The elongated lens is shaped to disperse more light in a direction away from an axis normal to the elongated mount structure. The light fixture further comprises a housing and an exit lens attached to the housing to define an interior chamber, the at least one light engine disposed within the interior chamber.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to retrofit systems and methods for lighting installations, and in particular, to retrofit systems and methods used to retrofit troffer-style lighting installations with LED light sources. Retrofit systems can be used with different light fixtures, but those described are particularly adapted for use with troffer-style fixtures. These retrofit systems can provide the same amount of light as traditional light fixtures already do, for example 1600-4000 lumens or more. The retrofit systems can be used with many different light sources but are particularly well-suited for use with solid state light sources or light engines, such as those utilizing LEDs. Some embodiments of the present invention comprise a mechanical mounting system for installing an LED light engine within an existing lighting system housing or pan, such as a troffer pan, without penetrating the ceiling plenum.

Embodiments comprise a pan structure designed to house one or more modular light engine units within a central opening. The cup is positioned proximate to a back reflector such that its open end faces a portion of the back reflector. The back reflector is shaped to define an interior chamber where light can be mixed and redirected. At least one elongated leg extends away from the reflective cup toward an edge of said back reflector. The leg(s) are used to mount the reflective cup relative to the back reflector and may also be used as a heat sink and/or an additional mount surface for light sources.

The mount surface is designed to accommodate the light emitters which may come on prefabricated a light strip. One or more reflectors extend out away from the heat sink on the mount surface side. A lens plate is mounted to proximate to the heat sink and extends out to the edge of the reflector(s). An interior cavity is at least partially defined by the reflector(s), the lens plates, and the heat sink. One or more light sources disposed along the heat sink mount surface emit light into the interior cavity where it can be mixed and/or shaped before it is emitted.

    Abstract: A solid state lighting fixture with an integrated driver circuit. A housing has a base end and an open end through which light is emitted from the fixture. The reflective interior surface of the fixture and the base define an optical chamber. At least one, and often multiple, light sources are mounted at the fixture base along with the circuitry necessary to drive and/or control the light sources. The drive circuit and the light sources are both located in the optical chamber. A reflective cone fits within the optical chamber such that it covers most of the drive circuit and other components at the base of fixture that might absorb light. The reflective cone is shaped to define a hole that is aligned with the light sources so that light may be emitted through the hole toward the open end of the fixture.

The functional louver mount surface faces a reflective back surface designed to redirect impinging light out of the fixture and into the lighted area.

    Abstract: A direct troffer-style fixture for solid state light sources and pan structures for use in these fixtures. The fixture comprises a door frame assembly that is attached to the pan. The pan housing is defined by a base and two angled side walls. End caps are attached to the side walls. End reflectors extend at an angle away from the end caps and attach to the base. The end caps, the end reflectors, and the base define compartments at both ends of the housing in which components can be housed. A light board is attached to the base using alignment holes in the base and cutout portions of the end reflectors. The multifunctional end reflectors retain elements within the compartments, provide added structural stability to the pan, aid in aligning a light board, and they reflect light that impinges on them toward the open end of the fixture.
