Abstract: Apparatus and associated method for loading a first tape cartridge into a tape drive, the first tape cartridge formatted to include a user data partition and also to include an index partition, different than and sized smaller than the user data partition, to store an index that self-describes user data designated to the user data partition and to also store non-index data, then reading the non-index data in the index partition of the first tape cartridge to self-describe a second tape cartridge different than the first tape cartridge.

Abstract: A CAN driver receives vehicle information sent onto CAN. A diagnosis information acquiring module monitors whether an operation of a diagnosis record ECU itself is normal or not and thus generates diagnosis information. A timestamp information generating module generates timestamp information A per sec and generates timestamp information B in which a time difference from the generation timing of the timestamp information A is expressed on the unit of 1/100 sec. A diagnosis record module, each time the timestamp information generating module generates the timestamp information A, transfers a first type record containing the timestamp information A and the diagnosis information generated at this point of time to a memory manager, and transfers a second type record containing the vehicle information and the timestamp information B generated at this point of time to the memory manager.

The method includes the steps of method comprising the steps of: recording audio via a microphone whilst interacting with an encoded substrate using the pen; and playing back the recorded audio by subsequently interacting with the encoded substrate and retrieving the recorded audio which is associated with the identity of the substrate and a position on the substrate.

Abstract: An optical disc reproduction apparatus as electronic apparatus has a display unit mounted via a hinge unit on a main body unit which has a main body case having lower and upper cases for housing a control board and a hinge connecting portion connected to a main body-side joint member of the hinge unit. The hinge connecting portion is formed of a part of the main body case, and has upper and lower connecting members formed of a part of the upper case and a part of the lower case, respectively. The lower connecting member is overlaid on a lower surface of the upper connecting member. The main body-side joint member is attached to the upper connecting member, and connected to both the upper and lower connecting members with hinge mounting screws so as to be connected to the hinge connecting portion.

A vehicle-mounted device includes: a player that reads out and outputs data recorded in a CD or a DVD (i.e., a TBCK signal, a TSD0 signal, and a TWS signal); a controller that receives the data (i.e., the TBCK signal, the TSD0 signal, and the TWS signal) output from the player, and executes various controls based on the received data; and an interrupt unit that interrupts transmission of the data recorded in the CD or the DVD to the controller controller until the CD or the DVD is inserted into the player.

Abstract: An atmospheric pressure measuring apparatus allows a transmitter to transmit an acoustic wave for measurement of the atmospheric pressure. Air propagates the acoustic wave. A receiver receives the acoustic wave. Since the intensity of the acoustic wave changes to follow the variation of the atmospheric pressure, the atmospheric pressure can be measured based on the intensity of the acoustic wave received at the receiver. The atmospheric pressure is in this manner measured with such a simplified structure.

Abstract: A miniature magnetic core includes at least one bar magnet having, in the demagnetized state, a plurality of magnetic domains separated by magnetic walls, the bar magnet having permanent discontinuities placed at least approximately at the probable locations of at least some of these magnetic walls in the absence of these permanent discontinuities. A miniature sensor includes a miniature core that cooperates with at least one excitation coil and at least one detection coil. A method for manufacturing the magnetic core includes identifying the probable location of the magnetic walls, depositing at least a thin film of magnetic material on a support in order to form the core and producing, in said core, discontinuities approximately at the identified locations of the walls.
