Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method of controlling an optical disc reproduction apparatus for reproducing an optical disc, the method includes displaying the reproducing image of the content on a display, determining if the data put into a data input form in the reproducing image of the content by the user is to be transmitted to a server by way of a network or not, determining if the data is to be transmitted in clear text or not when the data is determined to be transmitted to the server, displaying a selection window containing a button for asking the user to select transmission or non-transmission of the data on the display when the data is determined to be transmitted in clear text, and transmitting the data to the server when the user selects transmission, and not transmitting the data to the server when the user selects non-transmission.
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an information recording device comprises, when writing asynchronous data not recorded in a disk-like recording medium among data recorded in a non-volatile memory by a control module, a setting module is configured to place priority order of writing the asynchronous data to the disk-like recording medium in response to a state of each recording area with the asynchronous data of the non-volatile memory recorded therein.
Abstract: A write-once type optical disc and a method and apparatus for allocating a spare area on the write-once type optical disc are provided. The method includes allocating a data area on a recording medium of write-once type, and allocating a user data area and at least one spare area within the data area on the recording medium, the at least one spare area having a variable size, wherein a maximum recording capacity of the at least one spare area on the recording medium is less than a maximum recording capacity of at least one variable spare area on a rewritable type optical disc.
Abstract: To effectively suppress a signal in a low frequency region in which the medium noise and the signal distortion are concentrated, and in order to effectively utilize a detected component of the reproduced signal in the low frequency region, a target of partial response equalization to the perpendicularly recorded/reproduced signal is set so that the low-frequency component around the direct current is suppressed to a regulated quantity for both the effective suppression and the effective utilization. Accordingly, a maximum-likelihood decoding process is carried out through the target of partial response equalization. Reliability of data detection is made higher and a signal-to-noise ratio is improved, so that the noise from the recording medium can be reduced more and it is possible to provide a high-density magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus.
Abstract: In a method of servo writing of a magnetic recording system and the magnetic recording system, the signal is recorded in a dummy area with a higher recording density than the burst signal. Also, the maximum bit length of the burst area is shortened as compared with the maximum bit length of the data area. A servo control method for perpendicular recording similar to that for longitudinal recording can be used to reduce the development cost. The anti-signal decay performance is also improved. Further, since the variations of the burst signal along the track width is suppressed, the positioning accuracy is improved. These effects combine to produce a reliable magnetic recording system of large capacity.
Abstract: An information recording apparatus such as an optical disc that can avoid an unrecordable condition between a power-on operation and an available state for recording thereby to solve a problem that an image taking chance is missed in a recording step, wherein its constitution is such that: receiving a command to turn on the apparatus after switching, a system controller drives a power-supply circuit to activate a drive controller and a memory controller; if the optical disc is not replaced while in power-off operation by a sub-battery, the system controller issues a request for high-speed activation, based on information stored in an EEPROM, to the drive controller, and drives plural drive control units one after another thereby to establish an activation period confirmedly, allowing the memory controller to accept a request for a recording start from the system controller without waiting for a report of activation completion to be issued by the drive controller.
