Abstract: A covering for an architectural opening such as a window or door is in the form of a vertically oriented fabric assembly having front and rear sheer fabrics interconnected by vertically extending vanes. The vanes can be tilted through a series of carriers mounted on a track rail from which the covering is suspended in order to adjust the spacing between the fabrics between open and closed positions and adjust the light transmitting characteristics of the covering. The covering can be extended across the opening by separating the carriers on the track rail and can be contracted by stacking the carriers toward one end of the track rail. A unique design of carrier allows the covering to fold on itself in the contracted state, in the manner of a conventional drape.

Abstract: A defibrillation insulating device prevents current from directly shunting through the blood pool from the right ventricular defibrillation electrode to a superior vena cava electrode and vice versa. This forces current to flow through the heart muscle, thus increasing the current density throughout the heart, to depolarize the majority of the cardiac tissue with a minimum of energy.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for making a resin additive for a liquid paint. The process comprises of the steps selecting a thermosettable organic resin, curing the resin to form a cured thermoset resin, and particulizing the cured resin to a size no greater than about 20 .mu.m. The present invention is particularly useful in making environmentally friendly paint formulations.
Abstract: A composition for delivery of a molecule into a cell is provided. The composition includes a protein transduction domain that is conjugated to the molecule which is incorporated into a multilayered film. Preferably, the protein transduction domain is a cationic protein transduction domain. More preferably, the cationic protein transduction domain is nonaarginine, and the multilayered film includes polyelectrolyte multilayers. When the composition is presented to a cell, the multilayered film dissolves or erodes in physiological media, and the molecule is delivered into the cell.

Abstract: A transparent thermoplastic molding composition having good release properties is disclosed. The composition which contains no magnetic elements contains a polycarbonate resin and 0.01 to 0.3 percent by weight of a mold release agent. The agent is the product of a reaction of a compound represented by formula (I) ##STR1## where R.sub.1 denotes a C.sub.1-30 -alkyl group, with at least one member selected from the group consisting of ##STR2## where R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently denote C.sub.1-30 - alkyl or an aryl group, and ##STR3## where n is 1-7.
Abstract: Additive manufacturing processes, systems and three-dimensional articles include the formation of voxels and/or portions of three-dimensional articles with different properties relative to other voxels and/or portions. The processes generally include changing one or more laser beam parameters including power level, exposure time, hatch spacing, point distance, velocity, and energy density during the formation of selected voxels and/or portions of the three-dimensional articles. Also disclosed are processes that include an additive manufacturing process that provides localized secondary heat treatment of certain voxels and/or regions at a temperature below the melting point of the three-dimensional article but high enough to effect a localized property change.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for transmitting and receiving a digital data signal. At the transmitter side, packets of p m-bit digital words in a digital signal are error protection encoded to produce error protection encoded packets of n m-bit digital words making up an error protection signal, where n>p. The error protection encoded packets are converted into converted packets of digital words to form a channel encoded signal, which signal is supplied to a transmission medium. The conversion involves use of a generator for supplying a fixed auxiliary packet of n digital words; a calculation unit for calculating in a Galois field GF(2.sup.m) a converted digital word in accordance with the formula DW.sub.i +.alpha..FW.sub.i, where DW.sub.i and FW.sub.i are the binary values corresponding to the i-th digital words in the packet to be converted and the auxiliary packet, respectively, .alpha.
