  • Patent number: 10472146
Abstract: A key-releasable securing device has a flexible strap having a plurality of teeth and a locking head. The locking head has a cavity in which the flexible strap is insertable into and through to form a securing loop of adjustable dimension. The flexible strap is slidably movable in first or second directions to reduce or increase, respectively, the dimension of the securing loop. A pawl member is located inside the locking head so as to engage with the teeth of the flexible strap to allow movement in the first direction but prevent movement in the second direction. As a release key is inserted into the locking head, the release key is guided by guide means into engagement with the pawl member, so as to move the pawl member out of engagement with the teeth of the flexible strap to allow the strap to move in the second direction.

  • Patent number: 10470792
Abstract: An apparatus includes a shaft assembly, an ultrasonic blade, and a clamp assembly. The shaft assembly includes an acoustic waveguide operable to transmit ultrasonic vibrations to the blade. The clamp assembly includes a clamp arm pivotable toward and away from the blade about a pivot axis, to clamp tissue between the clamp arm and the blade. A rotation feature may provide rotation of the blade relative to the clamp arm about the longitudinal axis of the waveguide. Alternatively, the rotation feature may provide rotation of the clamp arm relative to the blade about the longitudinal axis. The rotation feature may be driven based on pivotal positioning of the clamp arm relative to the blade about the pivot axis. The rotation feature may selectively lock and unlock the angular position of either the blade or the clamp arm about the longitudinal axis at any of a number of predetermined angular positions.

  • Patent number: 10466183
Abstract: A system for characterizing the material of an object scanned via a dual-energy computed tomography scanner is provided. The system generates photoelectric and Compton sinograms based on a photoelectric-Compton decomposition of low-energy and high-energy sinograms generated from the scan and based on a scanner spectral response model. The system generates a Compton volume with Compton attenuation coefficients from the Compton sinogram and a photoelectric volume with photoelectric attenuation coefficients from the photoelectric sinogram. The system generates an estimated effective atomic number for a voxel and an estimated electron density for the voxel from the Compton attenuation coefficient and photoelectric coefficient for the voxel and scanner-specific parameters. The system then characterizes the material within the voxel based on the estimated effective atomic number and estimated electron density for the voxel.

  • Publication number: 20190330490
Abstract: The present invention relates to aqueous compositions of associative polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs), optionally containing surfactants, biocidal agents and/or oxidants, which can provide surface protection to treated articles including reduced soiling tendency, reduced cleaning effort and improved soil repellancy, as well as providing bacteriostatic properties to treated surfaces that thereby gain resistance to water, environmental exposure and microbial challenge. Treatment means and compositions are provided that employ associative polyelectrolyte complexes formed by combining a water soluble cationic first polyelectrolyte with a water soluble second polyelectrolyte bearing groups of opposite charge to the first polyelectrolyte under suitable mixing conditions where the one polyelectrolyte present in molar excess is added in the form of a first aqueous solution during a mixing step to a second aqueous solution comprising the oppositely charged polyelectrolyte present in molar deficiency.

Abstract: A technique for correcting a bone deformity, such as a bunion, may be performed using a fulcrum. In some examples, the technique involves inserting a fulcrum between a first metatarsal that is anatomically misaligned with respect to a second metatarsal. The technique further includes preparing an end of the first metatarsal and preparing an end of a medial cuneiform opposing the end of the first metatarsal. In addition, a distal portion of the first metatarsal is moved toward the second metatarsal in a transverse plane, thereby pivoting a proximal portion of the first metatarsal about the fulcrum and reducing an intermetatarsal angle between the first metatarsal and the second metatarsal.

  • Publication number: 20190329196
Abstract: A method of mixing a pharmaceutical solution including adding a gas into an interior compartment of a mix bag to form a headspace. The interior compartment of the mix bag includes a top portion and a bottom portion. The headspace adjacent to the top portion contains gas. The method includes adding a solvent into the mix bag, and establishing a bubble column in the interior compartment by activating a recirculation assembly. The recirculation assembly includes a connecting pathway operably coupled to a recirculation pump. A first end of the connecting pathway is coupled to a top gas recirculation port and a second end is coupled to a bottom gas recirculation port of the mix bag such that the recirculation pump draws the gas from the headspace and delivers the gas to the interior compartment via the bottom gas recirculation port. The method includes adding a solute into the mix bag.

  • Publication number: 20190335006
Abstract: Various embodiments describe techniques for dynamically customizing structured interactive content for a particular user within a session of an interactive computing environment. Machine-learning techniques are used to establish a behavioral class of each individual user based on user interactions with a diagnostic set of interactive content items during the session. The identified behavioral class is used to customize interactive content presented later during the session using various machine-learning techniques. In some embodiments, the user progress during the session is determined based on user interactions with the customized interactive content, and a content customization is performed if the user progress is below a threshold value.
