Abstract: Method and apparatus for designing the photomask in the course of designing the Levenson-type phase shift mask, capable of automatically arranging the shifter, of not causing a contradictory spot in a circuit designing stage and of automatically forming a final layout achieving maximum integrity. The method includes the steps of: forming symbolic layout data in which a distance between adjacent clear areas is set to an arbitrary value; determining regions having a mutual phase difference 0.degree. or 180.degree. of light transmitting through adjacent patterns corresponding to the clear areas in the symbolic layout data; executing compaction of the symbolic layout in a manner that design rule S1 is adopted to the clear areas neighboring with the phase difference of 180.degree. and design rule S2 is adopted to the clear areas neighboring with the phase difference of 0.degree.; and forming mask layout data such that S1 is less than S2.

Abstract: A beam shaper module and an automated luminaire are provided. The beam shaper can be installed on or removed from an automated luminaire that produces a plurality of beams of light. The beam shaper module includes a housing, a beam shaper, one or more motors, and a control circuit. The housing detachably couples to a light emitting face of a head of the luminaire. The beam shaper includes an array of ribbed lenses, each lens extending across the beam shaper and receiving light from fewer than all of the light beams. The motor(s) rotate the beam shaper about an axis of rotation coincident with an optical axis of the luminaire. The control circuit receives power and control signals from the luminaire and, in response to the control signals, controls rotation of the beam shaper using the motor(s).
Abstract: An input device includes a replaceable support for the user's hand which can be selected to provide improved comfort and support for the hand for operating the input device. The replaceable support allows the user to select a shell to fit his or her hand and to provide the desired functionality. In specific embodiments, the adaptable computer input device comprises a core module including an input element for a user to provide input to a computer. An outer shell is selected from a group of different outer shells which are detachably connectable to the core module to support a user's hand for manipulating the input element of the core module to provide input to the computer. The core module automatically detects operational information of the outer shell upon coupling of the outer shell with the core module and adapts operation of the core module to the outer shell connected thereto in response to detected operational information of the outer shell.
Abstract: The invention features a hot melt adhesive composition that can be applied at temperatures as low as 107° C., while maintaining excellent bonding under stress and a very fast setting time.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing an improved APD structure and an improved manner of operating APD's particularly beneficial for a single photon detection applications are provided. An APD is provided having an absorption region, a control region, and a multiplication region, wherein the multiplication region has a k value of approximately 1. In one example the multiplication region comprises a doped InP layer. The field control layer is designed so as to produce a reduction of electric field that is equal to the multiplication region's breakdown electric field, plus or minus 5V/&mgr;m. The method comprises applying a potential across the APD so as to induce an electric field across the multiplication region that exceeds the breakdown field; while having the control region shield the absorption region to prevent excessive noise.

The oscillating circuit includes a capacitor having a value which determines the frequency of the oscillator and therefore the timepiece timing. The capacitor is removable and replaceable for repairing or adjusting the timepiece timing operation.
Abstract: The present invention provides a nitrile hydratase nucleic acid fragment isolated from Pseudomonas putida which encodes a nitrile hydratase activity capable of catalyzing the hydrolysis of certain racemic nitrites to the corresponding R- or S-amides. Also provided are transformed microorganisms capable of the active expression of said nitrile hydratase activity. Additionally, the invention provides a transformant harboring the nitrile hydratase gene in conjunction with an amidase gene, both of which may be co-expressed producing active nitrile hydratase and amidase enzymes respectively. Methods for the production of such enantiomeric materials are also provided.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for transmitting information includes processing a downlink transport channel to generate a transport block (TB) having a TB size. The TB size is selected by selecting a modulation and coding scheme index (ITBS) and a physical resource block index (NPRB). The TB size for the selected ITBS and NPRB is selected so that an effective code rate at an user equipment (UE) does not exceed a specified threshold. The effective code rate is defined as a number of downlink (DL) information bits including TB cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits and code block CRC bits divided by a number of physical channel bits on Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH). The transport block is mapped to multiple spatial layers. The number of spatial layers N is greater than or equal to three. The multiple spatial layers are transmitted to the UE.
