Abstract: A system and method is provided for using biometric data from an individual to determine at least one emotion, mood, physical state, or mental state (“state”) of the individual, which is then used, either alone or together with other data, to provide the individual with certain web-based data. In one embodiment of the present invention, a Web host is in communication with at least one network device, where each network device is operated by an individual and is configured to communicate biometric data of the individual to the Web host. The Web host is then configured to use the biometric data to determine at least one state of the individual. The determined state, either alone or together with other data (e.g., interest data), is then used to provide the individual with certain content (e.g., web-based data) or to perform a particular action.

Abstract: A method is provided for identifying and displaying video data of a user, either alone or together (in synchronization) with other data, such as biometric data acquired during a time that the video data was captured/received. The method includes storing biometric data separately from the video data, allowing the biometric data to be search quickly to identify at least one value (e.g., a value corresponding to at least one biometric event). At least one biometric time-stamp (e.g., a time, a sample rate, a position within a plurality of values, etc.) linked to the identified value can then be used to identify a corresponding video time-frame, which can then be used to play the video data, either alone or together with biometric data, starting at a particular time (e.g., at a time that the event occurred, shortly before the event occurred, etc.).

Abstract: A method is provided for processing and displaying biometric data of a user, either alone or together (in synchronization) with other data, such as video data of the user during a time that the biometric data was acquired. The method includes storing biometric data so that it is linked to an identifier and at least one time-stamp (e.g., a start time, a sample rate, etc.), and storing video data so that it is linked to the identifier and at least one time-stamp (e.g., a start time). By storing data in this fashion, biometric data can be displayed (either in real-time or delayed) in synchronization with video data, and biometric data can be searched to identify at least one biometric event. Video corresponding to the biometric event can then be displayed, either alone or together with at least one biometric of the user during the biometric event.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for adding an advertisement to a digital message and providing additional communication data to a recipient that interacts with the advertisement regardless of the network device the recipient is utilizing. An advertisement generator residing on a network host accepts digital messages from contributors and allows the contributors to select an advertisement to be displayed with their contributed messages. These digital messages may be sent to specified recipients or published on a Web site. Using stored personal data associated with the contributor and with the recipient of a digital message, in addition to the content of the message itself, the advertisement generator suggests advertisements to be included with the digital messages based on their contextual relevance. In exchange for including an advertisement with a digital message, a contributor is compensated.

Abstract: A vehicle sticker for monitoring a time-period associated with a motor vehicle, comprises an electronic timer, first and second indicator devices, and some mechanism for affixing the sticker to the vehicle. The timer is configured to time the time-period associated with the vehicle and to generate an "impending expiration" signal and an "expiration" signal. The first indicator device is coupled to the timer, and is configured to indicate an "impending expiration" or a "renewal" warning in response to the impending expiration signal. The second indicator device is also coupled to the timer, and is configured to indicate the expiration of the time-period in response to the expiration signal. The affixing mechanism must hold the sticker on the vehicle, in such a position that the impending expiration indication is directed to someone inside the vehicle and the expiration indication is directed to someone outside the vehicle.

Abstract: An electronic timing label for indicating the expiration of a time period associated with a particular article. The label comprises a pulse generator and a binary counter. The pulse generator is configured to generate a series of pulses at a predetermined pulse rate, and the counter is configured to count from an initial count number in response to the series of pulses and to generate an expiration signal upon reaching a final count number. The number of counts between the initial and final count numbers, and the pulse rate, are chosen to establish a counting time for the counter which corresponds to the time period associated with the article. The label also comprises a display for indicating the expiration of the time period, a programming port for directing programming pulses to the counter, and some mechanism for affixing the label to an application surface associated with the article.

Abstract: A system and method is provided that allows a first user to identify an advertiser that is of interest to the first user and to communicate this information back to a host device. This information can then be used to target individuals on the network that are in communication with the first user (e.g., their friends) by providing those individuals with advertisements from the identified advertiser. Not only does this get a relevant advertisement before the first user, but it also gets a similar (or same) advertisement before the second user, who may have similar interests. However, in order for the first user to be able to acquire additional information on the advertiser and (separately) express an interest in the advertiser, the advertiser (or related advertisement) must be multi-interactable, or have at least two features that can be interacted with (e.g., clicked on) to trigger a response.
Abstract: Modular plastic structural composites formed from a mixture of (A) high density polyolefin and one or both of: (B) a thermoplastic-coated fiber material, or (C) polystyrene, poly(methyl methacrylate), or a combination thereof. Composites molded in the form of I-Beams and bridges constructed therefrom are also disclosed.

Abstract: The non-surgical method of installing a subcutaneously tunneled semipermanent catheter through the skin and into a central vein which utilizes an introducer catheter which has a pair of proximal ports, distal port, and an intermediate port located between the proximal ports and the distal port. The distal section of the introducer catheter is to be positioned within the central vein and the intermediate port is positioned exterior of but directly adjacent the vein and under the skin. A guide wire redirecting catheter is inserted into the introducer catheter and engages with the intermediate port. A sharp tipped guide wire is inserted through the guide wire redirecting catheter and is discharged from the redirecting catheter and travels subcutaneously some distance before penetrating the skin. The portion of the sharp tipped guide wire within the introducer catheter is then prolapsed into the distal portion of the introducer catheter.
