The facility uses a current consumption rank for each of a number of items and at least one or more previous consumption ranks for each of these items to attribute to at least a portion of the items a score characterizing the magnitude of increase in the consumption rank of the item. The facility then generates a display incorporating at least a portion of the attributed scores in the corresponding items.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for using item price data to assess whether particular item-to-item associations are useful for generating item recommendations. In one embodiment, the process involves generating a compatibility score that represents a degree to which the two items of an item-to-item mapping are compatible in price. This score may then be used to determine whether to use the item-to-item association as a basis for generating item recommendations.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for offering complementary products in relation to items listed by third party sellers in an electronic marketplace. Embodiments herein identify items available for sale by third parties in an electronic marketplace. An offer to include a complementary item available from an electronic commerce system in the electronic marketplace listing is transmitted to the third party seller. In other embodiments, a sale of an item in an electronic marketplace is detected and an offer to sell the product from the electronic commerce system is transmitted to the buyer.

Abstract: Techniques for providing a number of items may be described. For example, a request for a delivery of an item within a time frame may be received. An additional item may be determined based at least in part on the item and the time frame. Both items may be scheduled for delivery based at least in part on the time frame. Information associated with the items and including an option to accept a delivery of the additional item may be provided. If the option may have been selected, a delivery of the additional item may be caused.

Abstract: A method of providing recommendations is disclosed and includes receiving a selection of an offering via an online site. The method also includes outputting a detail page related to the offering via the online site. The detail page includes a first selectable indicator corresponding to a social network of a visitor and a second selectable indicator corresponding to unfiltered content. The method also includes outputting at least one recommendation via the detail page. Each recommendation is associated with a member of the social network when input received via the online site indicates a selection of the first selectable indicator.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for generating and updating recommendations for merchants. A plurality of recommendations for a plurality of merchants in an electronic marketplace are evaluated in at least one computing device for validity. An indication of which of the recommendations are valid is stored in a data store. It may be determined that one of the merchants has potentially invalidated one or more of the recommendations. The potentially invalidated recommendations for the merchant are evaluated for validity in response to a recommendation query for the merchant. A list of valid ones of the recommendations for the merchant is generated.

Abstract: At an artificial intelligence system, gifting-related ranking information pertaining to a plurality of items is obtained. Using the ranking information and respective feature sets corresponding to the items, a machine learning model is trained to generate respective gift-suitability scores corresponding to individual items. Based on a gift-suitability score generated by a trained version of the model, a gift-giving recommendation is generated indicating a particular item as a candidate gift. An explanation for the recommendation, expressed in natural language, is provided with the recommendation.

Abstract: A system and method for a librarian facilitates appraising the value of all or selected products in a collection of products. The collection of products may be part of a library that includes one or more photographic images of the library, and an inventory of the products revealed in those images. The librarian facilitates appraising the value of products in the collection with reference to the images. Appraisals may be automatically updated, and users notified in accordance with user notification preferences. An automated referral may be provided to the user to sell all or selected ones of the appraised inventory of products, individually or together. An extended appraisal may be provided to facilitate enhancing the value of a collection in the library.
