Abstract: An intraocular lens comprises an optical element adapted to be implanted within the capsular bag of a human eye. The optical element includes one or more internal layers formed by one or more planes that are moveable relative to one another in order to effect the power of the optical element.
Abstract: A draw tape trash bag made of linear low density polyethylene film has a tack seal between the folded over hem portion of the top of the bag and the adjacent panel. The tack seal extends in the direction of extrusion across the width of the bag below the draw tape. It includes a continuous line of heat fused polyethylene formed by applying heat, but limited pressure, in an amount just sufficient to weld the polyethylene.
Abstract: Methods of monitoring segment replacement within a multimedia stream are provided. A multimedia stream having a replacement segment spliced therein is evaluated by extracting at least one of video, text, and audio features from the multimedia stream adjacent a beginning or ending of the replacement segment, and the extracted features are analyzed to detect if a residual of a segment replaced by the replacement segment exists within the multimedia stream. Methods of ad replacement and a system for performing the above methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of and system for dynamically managing the registration and paging mobile units in a wireless system monitors a usage pattern for each mobile unit in the wireless system. Based upon the monitored usage pattern, the system sets a registration plan and a paging area plan for each mobile unit.
Abstract: The present invention provides a sealing device for an opening. The device includes a body that has a first side and a second side. A passageway is formed through the body such that the passageway has a first end adjacent to the first side and a second end that is adjacent to the second side. A sealing member is provided that includes an outer gasket and an inner gasket. The outer gasket is positioned adjacent the first side and the inner gasket is positioned adjacent the second side. A seal connector connects the inner gasket and the outer gasket and the seal connector passes through the passageway. In this way, the inner gasket and the outer gasket are mechanically attached to the ring. The sealing device is configured for use in such applications as sealing the cargo opening on the deck of a kayak.

Abstract: The presently disclosed boat anchoring system may include a first section and a second section. The first section may include a first proximal end region and a first distal end region. The second section may include a second proximal end region and a second distal end region. The first section may at least partially surround the second section. A geologic anchoring system may include a body section, a boring section and a lock. The body section may include a first proximal end region and a first distal end region. The boring section may include a second proximal end region and a second distal end region. The first section may least partially surround the second section. A lock may be included on the second section. The lock may engage the first section at an infinite number of contact points on the first section.
Abstract: A process for forming a thixotropic ink for use in manufacturing the ceramic of a zinc oxide varistor where the ceramic includes zinc, oxygen and a plurality of additive elements. The process includes the steps of calcining a mixture of powders of zinc oxide and the additive elements to form a calcined product having a particle size larger than the particle size of the zinc ozide powders, mixing said calcined product with an organic liquid, mechanically working the mixture to produce a calcined particulate material in the organic liquid having a particle size less than the particle size of said calcined product, adding an organic binder to the mixture and mixing the composition to produce said ink.

Abstract: A system for delivering a call to a mobile unit in a wireless network includes a mobile switching center that receives a call setup request message initiated in response to a request from an originating mobile switching center. The receiving mobile switching center initiates setting up the call between the receiving mobile switching center and the mobile unit before the call is setup between the receiving mobile switching center and the originating mobile switching center. Preferably, the receiving mobile switching center initiates setting up the call by issuing a page in response to receiving the call setup message.

Abstract: A system and method is described herein which provides an originating telecommunications unit with the geographic location of a mobile telecommunications unit without actually placing a call to, or receiving a call from, the mobile unit. The originating unit provides a service platform with an authorization code and the telephone number, or other identification, of the mobile unit to be located. The service platform then initiates a location program which uses various geographic location methods to provide the originating unit with the location of the mobile unit, without the user of the mobile unit becoming aware that the location of the mobile unit is being determined.
