  • Patent number: 8899138
Abstract: A firearm includes a receiver defining a receiver bore and a bolt carrier disposed in the receiver bore. The bolt carrier is moveable relative to the receiver along a longitudinal axis between a firing position and a rearward position. A hand guard is coupled to the receiver and an elongated member is fixed relative to the bolt carrier in the hand guard. A handle assembly is slideably engaged with the elongated member in the hand guard and the handle assembly is moveable toward the receiver to define a charging motion. The bolt carrier presents a first surface and the handle assembly terminates at a terminal surface aligned with the first surface along the longitudinal axis. The terminal surface of the handle assembly abuts the first surface of the bolt carrier when the handle assembly is moved in the charging motion.

Abstract: A filling valve apparatus for filling a container with a fluid. The apparatus includes a body portion and a stem. A sleeve is disposed over the stem and is removable from the stem and the body portion when the filling valve apparatus is serviced. A seal is mounted to the bottom of the sleeve. At least one component is movably connected to the sleeve and remains connected to the sleeve when the sleeve is removed from the stem and the body portion during the servicing of the filling valve apparatus. Similarly, a valve assembly, having a housing and a movable plunger is removable from the body portion. At least one member is mechanically connected to one of the housing and plunger for creating a unitary valve assembly that remains intact when the valve assembly is removed from the body portion during servicing of the filling valve apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8210089
Abstract: A firearm including a barrel having a breech and a muzzle defining a length of the barrel is disclosed. The firearm includes a hand guard having a first end and a second end with a front sight is attached to at least one of the barrel adjacent the muzzle and the second end of the hand guard. A housing is coupled to the front sight and defines a chamber having a piston disposed therein and movable between static and displaced positions. A receiver is coupled to the first end and a bolt carrier is disposed within the receiver and moveable between firing and rearward positions. A carrier key is attached to the bolt carrier and moves concurrently with the bolt carrier and a rod is permanently affixed to the carrier key and extends to a distal end with the piston engaging the distal end when moving to the displaced position.

  • Publication number: 20120036756
Abstract: A firearm includes a receiver and a barrel connected to the receiver. A hand guard extends from the receiver and defines a hand guard bore. The receiver includes a threaded end and the hand guard includes a flange extending into the hand guard bore and abutting the receiver about the threaded end. A hand guard nut abuts the flange of the hand guard and threadedly engaging the threaded end of the receiver. The hand guard nut sandwiches the flange between the hand guard nut and the receiver for attaching the hand guard to the receiver. The hand guard includes a first hand guard portion and a second hand guard portion removably attached to the first hand guard portion. The second hand guard portion is slid from an assembled position to a disassembled position to expose the hand guard nut in the hand guard bore.

  • Patent number: 7937870
Abstract: A firearm having a receiver defining a bore with the receiver extending along a longitudinal axis. The receiver defines an ejection port transverse to the longitudinal axis with the bore defining an inner surface. A bolt carrier is disposed in the bore and moves relative to the receiver along the longitudinal axis between a firing position and a rearward position with the bolt carrier defining at least one exhaust port transverse to the longitudinal axis. A shield defines an aperture aligned with the exhaust port for exhausting gases therethrough. The shield is longitudinally affixed to the bolt carrier and moves with the bolt carrier as a unit between the firing and rearward positions along the longitudinal axis with the shield blocking the ejection port when in the firing position and the shield sliding along the inner surface away from the ejection port when moving to the rearward position in conjunction with the bolt carrier.
