Abstract: The invention relates to a horizontal liquid crystal alignment agent which provides a polymer (A) and a solvent (B). The polymer (A) is obtained by reacting a mixture comprising a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride component (a) and a diamine component (b). Abstract: Disclosed are scratch-resistant, transparent and tough copolyamide molding compounds distinguished by high scratch-resistance, excellent transparency and great toughness, which are suitable for producing transparent moulded articles or transparent coatings. The molding compounds are obtained by polycondensation of a carboxylic acid mixture including at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid with at least one cycloaliphatic diamine. Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides starch-based hot melt adhesive comprised of a composition including starch, a thermoplastic polymer, a tackifier, a plasticizer, and an adhesion promoter. The hot melt adhesive according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention contains about 25 to 55 weight % of the starch which is infinitely renewable biomass, and, thus, it is less harmful and more eco-friendly and has a reduced manufacturing costs and is less sensitive to exhaustion of petroleum-based resources, as compared with the conventional hot melt adhesive mainly containing a petroleum-based material. Further, the hot melt adhesive according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention imparts excellent adhesion strength and workability at the time of adhesion between different kinds of adherends such as a hydrophobic adherend and a hydrophilic adherend and can be applied to various fields such as packaging, bookbinding, construction, woodworking, and textile fields.

Abstract: A flame retardant coating is disclosed. The flame retardant coating comprises polyurea elastomer, spray processable graphite, a graphite stabilizer agent, and a flame retardant. A method of manufacturing a flame retardant polyurea elastomer coating is also disclosed. A two part polymerizable system is provided comprising a first part containing isocyanates, and a second part containing polyamines. The first part and the second part are then mixed to form the flame retardant polyurea elastomer coating.
Abstract: A treatment fluid for treating a portion of a high-temperature subterranean formation comprises: a base fluid, wherein the base fluid comprises water; a viscosifier, wherein the viscosifier is a polymer, and wherein the viscosifier is thermally stable up to a temperature of 325° F.; and a stabilizer package, wherein the stabilizer package: (A) comprises a first stabilizer and a second stabilizer, wherein the first stabilizer is an oxygen scavenger and the second stabilizer is a pH adjustor; and (B) is capable of increasing the thermal stability of the viscosifier to a temperature greater than 350° F., wherein the portion of the subterranean formation has a bottomhole temperature greater than 350° F. Abstract: Processes for preparing high purity polycarbonates having high light transmission, low yellowness, and color stability are disclosed herein. High purity starting ingredients are used to form a polycarbonate powder. The polycarbonate powder can be subsequently melt extruded at an optimum shear rate to minimize yellowness and the need to add colorant to overcome the yellowness. The lower amount of colorant increases the light transmission of the resulting polycarbonate resin.
