Abstract: Disclosed are a processor and processing method that provide non-hierarchical computer security enhancements for context states. The processor can comprise a context control unit that uses context identifier tags associated with corresponding contexts to control access by the contexts to context information (i.e., context states) contained in the processor's non-stackable and/or stackable registers. For example, in response to an access request, the context control unit can grant a specific context access to a register only when that register is tagged with a specific context identifier tag. If the register is tagged with another context identifier tag, the contents of the specific register are saved in a context save area of memory and the previous context states of the specific context are restored to the specific register before access can be granted.

Abstract: An arrangement for multicasting digital data to a user accessing an Internet connection is disclosed. The arrangement entails placing streaming digital data content that is to be multicast in IP protocol to generate streaming IP digital data. The streaming IP digital data is uplinked from a transmission site to a satellite and downlinked to one or more remote Internet gateways via a communications path that is substantially separate from the Internet backbone. A plurality of separate satellite receiver systems, which may be located at separate remote Internet gateways, are adapted to receive IP streaming content via downlink carrier from the satellite and provide the streaming IP content to an Internet gateway without providing substantial TCP confirmation of delivery. At a remote Internet gateway, the streaming IP digital data content is multicast for delivery as a one-way data stream to at least one receiving Internet user's apparatus connected to but distant from the remote Internet gateway.

Abstract: Various aspects of a generator, ultrasonic device, and method for estimating a state of an end effector of an ultrasonic device are disclosed. The ultrasonic device includes an electromechanical ultrasonic system defined by a predetermined resonant frequency, including an ultrasonic transducer coupled to an ultrasonic blade. A control circuit measures a complex impedance of an ultrasonic transducer, wherein the complex impedance is defined as Z g ? ( t ) = V g ? ( t ) I g ? ( t ) . The control circuit receives a complex impedance measurement data point and compares the complex impedance measurement data point to a data point in a reference complex impedance characteristic pattern. The control circuit then classifies the complex impedance measurement data point based on a result of the comparison analysis and assigns a state or condition of the end effector based on the result of the comparison analysis.

Abstract: An improved direct seeding shelter is disclosed. The shelter comprises a base, a side wall, a top including a cylindrical portion and a displaceable cover that is operable, in a first position, to prevent a seed from passing from the interior of the shelter to the exterior of the shelter, through the shelter top. The shelter can be pre-seeded by inverting the shelter, positioning the displaceable cover in the first position, depositing at least one seed into the shelter and into the cylindrical portion, positioning a seed retainer in the cylindrical portion so that the retainer is frictionally engaged therein and is operable with the displaceable cover to define a seed pocket. Direct or spot seeding with the pre-seeded shelter is easily carried out by setting the shelter in the soil and depressing the at least one flap to dislodge the seed retainer. The dislodged seed and the seed retainer fall by gravity to the seeding spot.
Abstract: Via holes are formed in an electrically conductive power plane. Photo-imageable dielectric (PID) material is applied to one side of the power plane filling the via holes. The power plane side with no PID material is exposed to light energy to cure the PID material in the via holes. A developer is used to remove any uncured PID material. Signal plane assemblies comprising a conductive signal plane and a dielectric layer are laminated onto the filled power plane forming a two signal and one power plane (2S1P) structure. In another embodiment, the power plane has PID material applied from both sides. A photo-mask is applied to the power plane and the PID material in the via holes is cured with light energy. A developer is used to remove uncured PID material. Signal plane assemblies, as described above, are laminated onto the filled power plane forming a 2S1P structure.

Abstract: A hearing aid instrument of the in-the-ear type (and preferably CIC) provides a plate member with electronic hearing aid components mounted thereto. The plate member is preferably of a harder material such as hard plastic. A soft polymeric body is bonded to the plate member and encapsulates preferably a plurality of the electronic hearing aid components. The body is soft and is shaped to conform to the ear canal of the user. The soft polymeric body and encapsulated electronic hearing aid components define a soft structure compliant to the ear canal during use and that is substantially solid and free of void spaces between at least some of the components and the ear canal. This combination of soft compliant structure and encapsulated electronic hearing aid components addresses problems of peripheral leakage, poor fit, pivotal displacement that occurs with jaw motion and internal cross talk of components housed in prior art hollow type hearing aids.

Abstract: An apparatus maps one of a plurality of redundant memory columns, each having a redundant memory cell, to an address of a defective memory column in a memory device that communicates with an external data bus having one or more data-bit lines and an address bus. An address decoder receives an address signal on the address bus and generates an enable signal to enable the redundant cell of the redundant column when the value of the address signal equals the address of the defective memory column. A bit-select bus has one or more bit-select lines each associated with one of the data-bit lines. Each bit-select line can carry a bit-select signal. Each of a plurality of bit-line selectors is associated with one of the redundant columns and communicates with the bit-select bus. In response to an associated enable signal, each bit-line selector can generate the bit-select signal on the bit-select line associated with a desired data-bit line.
Abstract: A prefabricated composite panel of the type comprising a supporting plywood board, a foamed sheet of polyurethane and a covering layer on the front face of the polyurethane comprising a plurality of brick slices with an aggregate in the spaces between the brick slices which is bonded into the front face of the foam is improved in its fire retardancy by providing a plurality of vertical support metal strips on the inside face of the brick slices at spaced positions across the width of the panel. Each metal strip includes a hanger element at the top which engages over a portion of the foam and a plurality of punched tabs each of which engages under a respective one of the brick slices. The support strips prevent sagging of the brick slices when heat is applied to the front face of the panel since that sagging can allow the heat to penetrate cracks in the covering aggregate.

Abstract: Methods are described for assessing material condition. These methods include the use of multiple source fields for interrogating and loading of a multicomponent test material. Source fields include electric, magnetic, thermal, and acoustic fields. The loading field preferentially changes the material properties of a component of the test material, which allows the properties of the component materials to be separated. Methods are also described for monitoring changes in material state using separate drive and sense electrodes with some of the electrodes positioned on a hidden or even embedded material surface. Statistical characterization of the material condition is performed with sensor arrays that provide multiple responses for the material condition during loading. The responses can be combined into a statistical population that permits tracking with respect to loading history.

Abstract: A method of treating a molybdenum (moly) mask used in a C4 process to pattern C4 contacts. The moly mask has a wafer side which contacts a wafer during the C4 process and has a rough surface that includes spikes/projections of moly. The moly mask also has a non wafer side and a plurality of holes extending through the mask to pattern C4 contacts in the C4 process. An adhesive layer, such as an adhesive tape, is applied to the non wafer side of the moly mask, to enable a polishing tool to pull a vacuum on the non wafer side of the moly mask in spite of the presence of the holes to secure the moly mask during a subsequent polishing step. The tape also functions as a cushion so that defects on the non wafer side of the moly mask do not replicate through the moly mask to the polished wafer side of the moly mask.
