Abstract: A battery charger containing circuitry including integrated cell balancing and automatic cell configuration determination is presented. The charger automatically adapts output current to different battery configurations. The charger also ensures that all the cells within a battery configuration are at roughly the same voltage.
Abstract: A self-contained emergency battery charger for use in motor vehicles for charging a fully or partially discharged starter storage battery which delivers current to a starter motor of the vehicle. The batter charger contains a preconditioning circuit to preconditions a discharged battery before applying a full charging current from a charged second battery to the discharged battery. The battery charger also contains a temperature circuit which adjusts the time of charging whereby the time for providing power from the second battery is increased or decreased in relation to the second battery's temperature.
Abstract: A rechargeable battery pack for a surgical powered instrument. The battery pack is an assembly of individual cylindrical battery cells and has its electrical terminals in the form of sockets recessed within the body of the pack in the interstices between the cells. The terminal sockets are adapted to receive elongated plugs and enable the pack to be handled while minimizing the risk of shorting.
Abstract: A battery module including: a battery stack of battery cells having opposite ends to which a plurality of electrode tabs are connected; end-side bus bar assemblies formed at opposite ends of the battery stack, respectively, and electrically connecting the electrode tabs of the battery cells; and a case accommodating the battery stack and the end-side bus bar assemblies.

Abstract: A battery container is presented which provides multiple configurations that allow the storage of cylindrical or rectangular batteries in a magazine and ensures the maintenance of a consistent orientation, easy access, and physical protection of the batteries. The battery container is further adaptable to provide easy recharging of the batteries. The battery container is additionally configurable to be connectable with other battery containers, allowing the easy storage and distinguishability of charged and discharged batteries. The convenient storage for discharged batteries increases the likelihood that more batteries will be retained for proper disposal, rather than being discarded on the ground or in an improper location.
Abstract: The battery charger has a socket that is tubular, has a bottom, and accepts a rechargeable battery inserted to the socket. At least one side wall of the socket is an inclined surface that is inclined to the vertical when a bottom of the battery charger is placed on a horizontal surface. A charging terminal of the battery charger is disposed on this side wall.
Abstract: A battery pack includes a plurality of battery modules that house a plurality of unit cells in a case; and a protection circuit board that controls the charge and discharge of a plurality of the battery modules at once. The battery pack is highly flexible in series and parallel connection, high in assembly productivity and excellent in energy density.
Abstract: A rechargeable battery assembly comprises a rechargeable battery unit and a data and power connector plug. The battery assembly has a deployed configuration in which the battery assembly has the general form of and functions as a conventional battery format, and a recharge configuration in which the data and power connector plug is made accessible to enable said connector to be connected to a suitable receptacle on a computing or peripheral device for recharging of the battery.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating a housing containing circuit charging components from a housing containing battery charging contacts and a rechargeable battery for the purpose of minimizing heat transfer from the components of the battery charging circuit to the rechargeable battery. This is accomplished by utilizing a thermally resistant bridge between the charging circuit components generating heat and the battery(s) under charge.
Abstract: Systems and methods for actively balancing battery cells are disclosed. In one example, a charge is supplied to different battery cells at different times during a battery discharge cycle. The method may reduce instantaneous current draw within a battery pack.
