  • Publication number: 20020063639
Abstract: It is reported that more than half a million souls are lost per year due to traffic accidents throughout the world. These losses have been a very serious topic. Until now, no one could understand or supervise a driver's driving behavior, unless a supervisor was with him in the same vehicle. By the use of recent computer and communication technologies, we invented a system based on our safe driving theory, for a supervisor from a remote place to supervise and train drivers to drive safely. A computer in a vehicle obtains information concerning the driver's driving behavior by sensors in the vehicle and sends it to a supervisor outside of the vehicle. The supervisor can recognize unsafe behavior and train the driver in safe driving.

Abstract: A system and method for stock-out detection in a retail environment. The method includes sending, from a reference ultrasound emitter, a reference ultrasound pulse that is at least partially reflected by a retail shelf so as to form a return pulse. The return pulse is received at a reference ultrasound receiver. A reference round-trip-delay (RTD) corresponding to a time period between the sending of the reference pulse and the receiving of the return pulse is determined. A monitoring ultrasound pulse is sent toward the retail shelf and a reflection of the monitoring ultrasound pulse is received. A stock-out condition is determined based upon a comparison of the reference RTD and a monitored RTD associated with the monitoring ultrasound pulse.

Abstract: A communications system includes a multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) architecture for high capacity switched mesh networks. The MIMO architecture has a plurality of radio frequency chains. One of the plurality of radio frequency chains is configured to apply a first frequency offset to a base frequency of an output signal to generate a first transmitting frequency; and another of the plurality of radio frequency chains being configured to apply a second frequency offset to the base frequency to generate a second transmitting frequency. The system uses the carrier frequency offset to lock the clock of the master subsystem to the clock of the slave subsystem, thereby enabling bandwidth expansion to be employed on the MIMO data streams.
