Abstract: A stable, low viscosity bimodal oil in water emulsion having an emulsifier, a continuous water phase and a discontinuous oil phase having an oil:water ratio of from about 70:30 to about 85:15 by weight, the discontinuous oil phase being characterized by two distinct oil droplet sizes D.sub.L and D.sub.S wherein D.sub.L is about 10 to 40 microns and D.sub.S is less than or equal to 5 microns, the ratio of D.sub.L /D.sub.S is greater than or equal to 4 and about 45 to 85% by weight of the oil is in oil droplet size D.sub.L.
Abstract: The present invention refers to new conjugate antigens expressing built-in multiple epitopes and to polyvalent glycoconjugate vaccines and formulations containing the same. In addition, the present invention concerns the use of these vaccines in particular for the protection of the human population, and in particular for the protection of the paediatric population from pulmonary and systemic infections due to S. pneumoniae, N. meningitidis, H. influenzae, K. pneumoniae, M. tuberculosis, S. aereus, or from intestinal infections due to S. typhi, V. cholerae and E. coli. The present invention additionally refers to new polyvalent glycoconjugate vaccines for the protection from C. albicans and E. coli systemic and genitourinary infections or for the protection from M. bovis infections in veterinary medicine.
Abstract: Process for the optimum operation of a slurry bubble column reactor in the presence of a gas phase and a liquid phase, particularly for the Fischer-Tropsch reaction, characterized in that:1) the process is carried out in a number of stages in series of .gtoreq.2;2) the flow conditions of the gas phase and liquid phase containing the solids are essentially plug flow conditions, with a gas rate of between 3 cm/s and 200 cm/s and a liquid rate of between 0 and 10 cm/s;3) the concentration of solids in each stage is essentially constant and equal for each single stage, and is between 5 and 50% (vol./vol.).

Abstract: Certain example embodiments relate to capacitive touch panels. First and second glass substrates are substantially parallel and spaced apart from one another. At least one multi-layer transparent conductive coating (TCC) is patterned into electrodes and located between the first and second substrates. The TCC(s) include(s) at least one conductive layer including silver, a dielectric layer including zinc oxide under and directly contacting the conductive layer including silver, and a dielectric layer(s) including tin oxide or silicon nitride over the conductive layer including silver. Processing circuitry electrically connects to the electrodes and measures an aspect of the electrodes' capacitance. A laminate material is located between the first and second glass substrates. The TCC(s), when blanket deposited, may have a visible transmission of at least 88%, a sheet resistances of no more than 10 ohms per square, and a haze of no more than 0.5%. Mutual and self-capacitance designs are disclosed.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing (S)-(+)-6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-methanol from either alkyl(R)-2-benzyloxy-3-hydroxy-2-methyl-propionate or (S)-2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-ethanol including intermediates in this synthesis.
Abstract: A parallel distributed sample descrambler part for a cell-based ATM physical layer, comprising a PRBS generator for generating an 8-bit random number when being set to any value other than "0" in response to an initial value set signal upon initialization, to execute a generation polynomial for distributed sample descrambling given by x.sup.31 +x.sup.28 +1, and a descrambler for adding 8 bits of reception data to 8 bits of the random number from the PRBS generator, respectively, to perform the descrambling of the reception data and outputting the descrambled data bits. A sample processor extracts two bits for synchronization of the descrambler from the 8-bit random number from the PRBS generator as first and second samples in response to an external sampling clock and an external synchronous clock.

Abstract: To facilitate the adjustment of the S correction in apparatus comprising cathode-ray tubes (televisions, monitors), the process consists in displaying visual marks on the screen, at the location of the picture points which remain stationary as the amplitude of the S correction which is applied to the sawtooth current flowing through the deflection coils of the cathode-ray tube is varied.
Abstract: This invention provides an isolated nucleic acid molecule which encodes Kaposi's Sarcoma-Associated Herpesvirus (KSHV) polypeptides. This invention provides an isolated polypeptide molecule of KSHV. This invention provides an antibody specific to the polypeptide. Antisense and triplex oligonucleotide molecules are also provided. This invention provides a vaccine for Kaposi's Sarcoma (KS). This invention provides methods of vaccination, prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment of a subject with KS and of detecting expression of a DNA virus associated with Kaposi's sarcoma in a cell.
