  • Patent number: 9572601
Abstract: A system provides for lateral translational corrective force(s) and/or derotational corrective force(s) on a spinal column and includes highly adaptive hardware for connecting the system to the spinal column, where the hardware facilitates a more natural range of motion within pre-selected limits and application of such lateral translational and/or derotational corrective force(s). The upper and lower vertebral segments retain freedom of movement while an apical or restricted segment is restricted from relative vertebral movement. A central segment controls primary rod roll while the rod is free to change in pitch, yaw and roll at the upper (superior) and lower (inferior) segments.

  • Publication number: 20220296700
Abstract: A synthetic DNA vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 infection comprises a codon-optimized coding sequence for optimal mammalian expression of a pSARS2 spike glycoprotein (pSARS2-S). The signal peptide may be replaced with the signal peptide from the human IgG2 heavy chain. Systemic S1-specific IgG antibodies and neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) were significantly induced in mice at 2 weeks-post three injections with 100 ?g of the pSARS2-S vaccine via intramuscular (IM) needle injection. IM immunization induced Th1-skewed and long-lasting IgG response in BALB/c mice. Immunogenicity and induction of nAbs were enhanced with a needle-free delivery system, wherein two doses were sufficient to elicit significant levels of systemic S1-specific IgG antibodies and nAbs via IM or intradermal immunization.

  • Patent number: 4279773
Abstract: An indicator device useful for detecting H.sub.2 S is disclosed. This detector utilizes a polymer having a permeation constant of at least 5.times.10.sup.-9 cm.sup.3 H.sub.2 S.multidot.cm thickness/(cm.sup.2 area.multidot.sec.multidot.cm Hg) with an incorporated lead containing compound at concentration levels of at least 10 weight percent. These compositions are useful for detecting hydrogen sulfide in concentrations as low as approximately 10 parts per billion by volume, or concentrations of approximately 1 part per million in relatively short periods, e.g., five minutes, and are utilizable for quantitative measurements of H.sub.2 S concentration.

  • Publication number: 20110129040
Abstract: A method of estimating log-likelihood ratios for first and second streams of samples of a received S-FSK signal demodulated using first and second carriers includes estimating channel and noise parameters associated with first and second transmitted values for the first and second streams of samples obtained from the received S-FSK modulated signal. Current signal-to-noise ratios are estimated for current samples of the first and second streams of samples obtained from the received S-FSK modulated signal using the channel and noise parameters. The estimated current signal-to-noise ratios are compared with values of a discrete ordered set and respective pairs of consecutive values of the discrete ordered set between which the estimated current signal-to-noise ratios are comprised are identified. Log-likelihood ratios are estimated for the current samples of the first and second streams.

  • Patent number: 9733779
Abstract: Certain example embodiments relate to capacitive touch panels. First and second glass substrates are substantially parallel and spaced apart from one another. At least one multi-layer transparent conductive coating (TCC) is patterned into electrodes and located between the first and second substrates. The TCC(s) include(s) at least one conductive layer including silver, a dielectric layer including zinc oxide under and directly contacting the conductive layer including silver, and a dielectric layer(s) including tin oxide or silicon nitride over the conductive layer including silver. Processing circuitry electrically connects to the electrodes and measures an aspect of the electrodes' capacitance. A laminate material is located between the first and second glass substrates. The TCC(s), when blanket deposited, may have a visible transmission of at least 88%, a sheet resistances of no more than 10 ohms per square, and a haze of no more than 0.5%. Mutual and self-capacitance designs are disclosed.
