  • Patent number: 11016855
Abstract: A system that manages backups of filesystems. The system analyzes and presents changes in a file system. The system generates user interfaces that present changes to files in the filesystem. The user interfaces allow users to traverse the filesystem to view changes in the filesystem. The changes include file operations that took place during a time interval. As such, users can ascertain a filesystem behavior such as which files were added, modified, or deleted during a time period; how many files under a folder were added, modified, or deleted; or which user has issued most operations in a time interval.

  • Patent number: 11687360
Abstract: A data management system comprises: a storage appliance configured to store a snapshot of a virtual machine; and one or more processors in communication with the storage appliance. The one or more processors are configured to perform operations including: identifying a plurality of shards of the virtual machine; requesting a snapshot of each of the plurality of shards; receiving the shards asynchronously; ordering the received snapshot shards sequentially into a results queue; and storing a single snapshot of the virtual machine based on the ordered snapshot shards. Operations may further include maintaining a flow control queue that limits the number of snapshot shards requested.

  • Publication number: 20180059973
Abstract: Methods and systems for managing, storing, and serving data within a virtualized environment are described. In some embodiments, a data management system may manage the extraction and storage of virtual machine snapshots, provide near instantaneous restoration of a virtual machine or one or more files located on the virtual machine, and enable secondary workloads to directly use the data management system as a primary storage target to read or modify past versions of data. The data management system may allow a virtual machine snapshot of a virtual machine stored within the system to be directly mounted to enable substantially instantaneous virtual machine recovery of the virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 11360859
Abstract: The technology disclosed herein enables the restoration of a database version across cloud environments. In a particular embodiment, a method provides receiving, in a second cloud environment from a first cloud environment, first metadata describing a first data version stored in the first cloud environment. The first data version includes first data items and the first metadata. After receiving the first metadata, the method provides receiving, in the second cloud environment, an instruction to restore the first data items to the second cloud environment. In response to the instruction, the method provides restoring the first data items to the second cloud environment using the first metadata.

  • Patent number: 11915043
Abstract: In some examples, a data management and storage (DMS) system comprises peer DMS nodes in a node cluster, a distributed data store comprising local and cloud storage, and an IO request scheduler comprising at least one processor configured to perform operations in a method of scheduling IO requests. Example operations comprise implementing a kernel scheduler to schedule a flow of IO requests in the DMS system, and providing an adjustment layer to adjust the kernel scheduler based on an IO request prioritization. A flow of IO requests is identified and some examples implement an IO request prioritization based on the adjustments made by the adjustment layer.

  • Patent number: 10803193
Abstract: A data management and storage (DMS) duster of peer DMS nodes manages resources of a multi-tenant environment. The DMS cluster provides an authorization framework that provides user access which is scoped to the resources within a tenant organization and the privileges of the user within the organization. To authorize an action on a resource by a user, the DMS cluster determines determine user authorizations associated with the user defining privileges of the user on the resources of the multi-tenant environment, and organization authorizations associated defining resources of the multi-tenant environment that belong to the organization. The DMS cluster authorizes the action when the user authorizations and organizations authorized indicate that the action on the resource is authorized.

  • Patent number: 11487625
Abstract: According to various embodiments, with respect to a target set of files being managed (e.g., protected by data snapshots), each file in the target set of files is classified into one of two or more filesets (discontiguous filesets), where each of these filesets comprises one or more files that are related to each other by one or more factors, such as frequency of file change or purpose of existence (e.g., used by a software application). Once classified, files within the target set of files can be uniquely processed by a data management operation (e.g., incremental data snapshot process) according to their association to a discontiguous fileset.

  • Patent number: 11663340
Abstract: Systems and methods to manage software vulnerabilities are described. The system retrieves a snapshot image of a production machine from a database. The snapshot image is associated with a recovery point identifier. The recovery point identifier identifies a first recovery point from multiple recovery points respectively corresponding to a plurality of snapshot images of the production machine. The snapshot image includes a first virtual machine that includes software information. The system processes the software information to identify first patch information associated with a first software module. Finally, the system pushes patch information to the production machine based on the processing of the software information.
