Abstract: A firearm projectile has a core extending along a central axis from a base portion to a tip portion, the base portion generally having a cylindrical shape and the tip portion comprising an ogive shape. A jacket encases the core along the base portion and the tip portion, the jacket having a shank portion defining a closed rear end and an ogive portion extending to an open front end. Protrusions extend into the core from an inside of the shank portion, the protrusions having a spaced-apart arrangement with each protrusion engaging the core to retain the core together with the jacket upon impact with a target.
Abstract: A detachable box magazine for firearms includes a hollow magazine tube extending longitudinally along a median plane. The magazine tube defines a single-stack portion extending to an upper tube end with an upper tube opening. The magazine tube defines a double-stack portion positioned below the single-stack portion and extending to a bottom tube end with a bottom tube opening. For example, opposite lateral margins of the front sidewall can have a stepped shape between the upper tube end and the double-stack portion. The rear sidewall can have a linear taper between the upper tube end and the double-stack portion.

Abstract: A hand guard assembly for installation on a standard barrel nut is disclosed. In accordance with some embodiments, the hand guard assembly may include a hinged hand guard comprising a left clamshell component and a right clamshell component, which may be mounted on a standard barrel nut. The design of the hinged hand guard allows the hand guard to securely fasten on the standard barrel nut by accommodating the sprockets of the standard barrel nut in an internal radial groove, and/or encasing the firearm's gas tube in a longitudinal notch. The disclosed configurations may allow a user to attach and remove the hand guard easily and quickly from the firearm without modifying the standard barrel nut or removing the gas block.

Abstract: A magazine safety assembly configured for use in a firearm includes a pivot point assembly. A lever assembly, including a first portion and a second portion, is configured to pivot about the pivot point assembly from an engaged position to a disengaged position. When positioned in the engaged position, the first portion of the lever assembly releasably engages a trigger assembly of the firearm. When positioned in the disengaged position, the second portion of the lever assembly releasably engages an ammunition magazine assembly positioned within a magazine well of the firearm. A spring assembly is configured to bias the lever assembly into the engaged position when the ammunition magazine assembly is not positioned within the magazine well the firearm.
Abstract: A method of pairing a device and a single one of two or more potential pairing devices includes first setting the device in a seek mode and scanning for the potential pairing devices. A list is stored in the device that includes any potential pairing devices discovered while in the seek mode. The list is stored in a sequential order based on a signal strength between the device and each of the discovered potential pairing devices. Then the device determines whether any of the potential pairing devices in the list are set in a predetermined mode, and pairs with the one of the potential pairing devices in the predetermined mode that has the highest signal strength.

Abstract: A firearm slide includes a mounting plate that is removably connected to a planar mounting surface of the firearm slide. A rear sight is removably attached to the mounting plate so that different types or styles of rear sights may be used with the firearm. Upon removing the mounting plate itself, various mounting features defined in the planar mounting surface of the slide are exposed. These mounting features can be used to attach any of a variety of accessories (whether a telescopic sight, a red dot sight, a light, or other accessory) directly to the exposed planar mounting surface of the slide.

Abstract: A firearm stock extension assembly enables a stock to be collapsed when a firearm is not in active use, and extended from a collapsed configuration directly to the user's preferred stock length. This is accomplished without requiring the user to actuate a lever to release a detent mechanism and without the need for hand tools to adjust the length of the stock. The firearm stock extension assembly includes an insert that defines at least one insert aperture. When properly placed, the insert aperture of the insert lines up with a corresponding extension aperture on the stock. Other than the corresponding extension aperture exposed by the insert aperture, all other extension apertures are concealed by the solid portions of the insert.
Abstract: A reticle for an aiming device includes a number of holdover indicators on the reticle that may be individually selected; an input for receiving ballistics data; and a processor configured to, based at least in part on the received ballistics data, select one or more of the holdover indicators; and cause the selected holdover indicator or indicators to visibly change state on the reticle. Methods of operating a digital reticle are also described. Further disclosed is a system that includes the reticle above, as well as a rangefinder for providing range data and a ballistics calculator for providing ballistics data. Some variations include ballistics data stored in a memory.

Abstract: A mounting assembly for a firearm muzzle attachment includes an attachment mount with a clutch assembly. A muzzle attachment can be secured to the distal end portion of the attachment mount. The attachment mount is configured to removably attach the muzzle attachment to a muzzle adapter installed on the end of a barrel. A clutch assembly on the attachment mount is operable between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the clutch assembly frictionally engages the muzzle adapter to inhibit loosening rotation of the muzzle attachment relative to the muzzle adapter. In the unlocked position, the clutch assembly disengages from the muzzle adapter to permit loosening rotation of the attachment mount relative to the muzzle adapter. A method of use and a locking nut are also disclosed.
