Abstract: A soft plastic shad type fishing lure having a nose cavity in its leading end for receiving a lead jig head in order to enhance the natural appearance and motion of the bait for greater appeal to fish.
Abstract: A retractable boat cleat which moves alternately between extended and retracted positions upon alternate depressions of the cleat. A pivotal latch with notched ends cooperates with a specially spaced recess in the cleat and a pair of compression springs to provide the alternate extension and retraction.
Abstract: A spinner type fishing lure having a metal spinner blade with a built-in rattle chamber and a metal pellet in the chamber for producing a rattling sound attractive to fish. The rattle chamber is formed by a hemispherical dome on the spinner blade and a flat base plate extending across the bottom of the dome. The combination of the domed shape of the rattle chamber and metal surfaces which bound it generates a rattling sound that is especially effective in attracting fish.
Abstract: A tandem blade spinner bait fishing lure. First and second spinner blades are coupled with a body portion of the lure by a V-shaped shank. A first swivel couples the first blade with one end of the shank. A blade bar couples the second blade with the first blade. A second swivel couples the second blade with the blade bar to allow independent rotation of the blades. The first swivel allows the blades to pivot about the end of the shank. The first and second blades freely rotate about an axis parallel to the path of travel of the lure through the water.
Abstract: A method of constructing a fishing lure blade having a special kicker, and a blade made according to the method. A blade body is inserted at one end into a groove in a special tool and is then bent such that a flap is formed about a bend line determined by the groove depth. The flap is folded over completely and the folded over end of the blade is then inserted into a slot in another tool. The blade is then bent against a 45.degree. inclined surface to form a double thickness lip that is oriented at 45.degree. to the blade body. Finally, the flap is pressed against a flat tool surface until its tip is in line with the opposite edges of the blade body.

Abstract: A casting game which tests the skills of fisherman. A platform is provided upon which the contestant may stand and cast a plug. A pool of water surrounds at least a portion of this platform, with the pool divided radially into a plurality of lanes or segments. Located within the segments are numerous targets which take the form of cylinders having open upper ends. The contestant attempts to place the plug or piece of tackle within these cylinders by casting the plug using a standard fishing rod. The various lanes of the pool may be designated for use with a particular type of rod, plug or casting motion. The contestant who hits the most number of targets within a specified time period is the winner. In a preferred embodiment the upwardly open cylinders forming the targets will have associated lights, such that they are illuminated after the plug has entered the target, providing an indication that such particular target has already been struck.
