  • Patent number: 4203114
Abstract: Apparatus for digitally indicating the bearing angle of a source of microwave energy includes an antenna array of a plurality of antenna elements equispaced about an arc of a circle in a plane. Connected to each of the antenna elements is a different input port of a microwave power dividing and phase transforming hybrid matrix. Some of the output ports of the matrix are connected to input ports of a plurality of digital phase discriminators whose outputs emit a coded combination of binary level signals. The outputs of the phase discriminators are connected to an ambiguity resolving means which transforms the binary level signals to an unambiguous digital word representing the bearing angle.

  • Patent number: 6784852
Abstract: A circuit dividing and/or combining signals that has an input port for receiving a first signal, a first transmission line connected at one end to the input port, and a first connection point. The first connection point is connected to another end of the first transmission line. The first connection point provides a path to a first output port. A plurality of additional transmission lines, connection points and output ports is connected in sequence. Each transmission line is connected at one end to the (N−1)th connection point. A N connection point is connected to another end of the N transmission line. The N connection point provides a path to a N output port. The circuit provides equal amplitude at each of the anntena ports and further provides 90° phase progression between each pair of adjacent output ports.

  • Patent number: 4405895
Abstract: An angle digitizer receives signal representing the sine and cosine of the angle to be digitized. The voltages are fed to orthogonal pairs of input terminals. Between each two input terminals is a set of equivalued resistors to form a resistor ring. At the junction of each pair of resistors is an output terminal. Each pair of output terminals is connected to the input terminals of a signal amplitude comparator which compares the magnitude of the signals at its inputs to give a digital signal in accordance with which is greater. For each comparator the output terminals of the resistor ring are selected such that the signals are in a direct antiphase relationship. An odd set of the comparators is activated first followed by the activation of the even set. Thereafter the binary output values of the comparators are interleaved to form a full digital word which is then tested to see if it is a valid digital word.

  • Patent number: 6713792
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a printed circuit board through-hole connection includes forming a through-hole by removing material from the first side of the printed circuit board until the backing and then slightly into the first side of the backing providing a hole. Next, plating through the hole connecting the backing layer, ground layer, and signal layer. Now the plating of the signal layer is removed without removing the connection from the ground layer to the backing. Finally, the hole is filled from the first side of the printed circuit board. A method of manufacturing a MMIC printed circuit board through-hole connection includes forming a through-hole by removing material from the first side of the MMIC printed circuit board through the first signal layer, through the MMIC until the second signal layer, and then slightly into the top side of the second signal layer. Once the material is removed, an electrical connection is provided to the first signal layer, the MMIC and the second signal layer.
