Abstract: Described herein are beverages that provide a number of heath benefits associated with elevated or high blood sugar levels. For example, the beverages are useful in potentiating insulin activity, treating hyperglycemia, and maintaining blood sugar levels in a subject afflicted with diabetes. The beverages are composed of distilled water, cinnamon extract, and sweetener. Vitamins, minerals, and nutrients can be added to the beverage to provide additional health benefits.

Abstract: An oil-based composition comprises a glyceride of medium-chain fatty acids, at least one essential oil selected from the group consisting of cinnamon oil, oregano oil, avocado oil, coconut oil and apricot oil, and optionally cinnamon bark. The medium-chain fatty acid comprises about 6 to 12 carbon atoms. The oil-based composition may be used for oral hygiene applications, weight control applications, skin care applications, or treatment of Staphylococcus aureus infection.

Abstract: In a method for producing eggs with improved flavor, hen poultry are fed a feed containing nutmeg and/or cinnamon. Eggs obtained from the poultry and foods produced from the eggs have an improved taste.

Abstract: A spray composition and method are provided that are effective for reduction or elimination of the psychological hunger for foods for which a patient wishes to reduce consumption. Such ingredients preferably include but are not limited to cinnamon, lemon powder, coffee grounds, alcohol, citric acid, vanilla, and sugar and/or an artificial sweetener such as saccharin. The composition of the invention is preferably sprayed into the mouth, resulting in a lessening or elimination of psychological hunger. The method and spray composition saturate a person's craving for foods by penetrating to the blood through the oral mucosa, and satisfying taste buds.

Abstract: A stabilized carotenoid-based pigmenter free of synthetic antioxidants for the addition to animal feed to add color to tissues of animals fed the animal feed. The carotenoid-based pigmenter contains free-form carotenoids obtained from natural sources through a saponification reaction. A natural antioxidant, such as grape seed extracts, green tea extracts, clove bud oil, clove leaf oil, Vitamin C, cinnamon leaf oil, oleoresin turmeric, tocopherol, tocotrienol, rosemary extracts and gallic acid or salts thereof combined with a diluent, preferably glycerol or a glycerol-like substance, is added to the pigmenter after the saponification reaction.

Abstract: A weight loss system is presented herein. In one embodiment, the weight loss system that accelerates weight loss in a subject eating a caloric restricted diet with a minimum daily protein intake of about 3 oz. and engaging in daily physical activity equivalent to about 5,000 steps per day is presented. The weight loss system can comprise an effective amount of: an antimicrobial component that includes berberine, cinnamon and curcumin; fish oil; a probiotic component that includes Lactobacillus spp., Bifidobacterium spp., and Streptococcus spp.; an antioxidant, phytochemical component that includes apple extract, grape extract, green tea extract, and olive extract; and a vitamin component that includes vitamins A, B, C, D, and E. The weight loss system can stimulate a weight loss of at least 3% more than if not administered to the subject. Further presented herein is a method of facilitating weight loss in a subject and a method of improving the health of a subject participating in a weight loss program.
