  • Patent number: 8826138
Abstract: A system comprises a processor and a graphical user interface (GUI) executable by the processor. The GUI enables a user to specify constituent virtual connect domains (VCD) for a common VCD group. Each VCD comprises two or more computing devices virtualized by a virtual connect device. The virtual connect device comprises multiple ports for communicatively coupling the two or more computing devices to external networks. For all of the constituent VCDs of a particular VCD group, each corresponding port of a corresponding virtual connect device is connected to the same external.

  • Patent number: 7000100
Abstract: A software implementation of an application watchdog, comprising a restart service operating in the user mode and a watchdog driver operating in the kernel mode of a computer operating system. The driver incorporates a system thread configured to monitor a plurality of user applications operating in the user mode. The driver provides a first IOCTL signal interface for communicating control signals between the watchdog driver and one of the user applications and a second IOCTL signal interface for communicating control signals between the watchdog driver and the restart service. A communication interface exists for coordinating timer events with the operating system scheduler. If the system thread does not receive a message from one of said applications within an allotted period of time, the timer event alerts the watchdog driver that the allotted time has elapsed and the watchdog driver signals the restart service to restart that application.

  • Patent number: 6792553
Abstract: A computer system includes a power supply coupled to a control logic, the power supply including a power_good output signal and Power output lines. The power_good signal notifies the control logic when the Power output lines have stabilized. The computer system also includes a plurality of voltage regulator modules (“VRM”) coupled to the control logic, wherein each VRM receives a power good signal from the control logic. A plurality of processors is also present in the computer system, each of the processors coupled to a VRM. Each of the VRMs transmits voltage to a processor to power-on the processor. Each VRM also transmits to its processor and to the control logic a voltage regulator module power good (“VRMP_G”) signal. The control logic includes means to control the sequential power-on of the processors so as to reduce the current sourcing requirements of the power supply and eliminate power supply surges.
