  • Patent number: 6400846
Abstract: A method determines a surface of an object in a sequence of images. The method begins by estimating a boundary of the object in each image of the sequence using motion information of adjacent images of the sequence. Then, portions of each image of the sequence are ordered to produce an ordered sequence of images. The ordered portions are exterior to the estimated object boundary. Edges in each ordered image are filtered using the motion information, and each ordered image of the sequence is searched to locate the filtered edges to form a new boundary outside the estimated boundary. The filtering and searching are repeated, while projecting the new object boundaries over the sequence of images, until the new object boundaries converges to a surface of the object.

Abstract: An aperture stop exploitation camera comprises an imaging lens column positioned along an optical axis and configured to transmit light from a scene from a single viewpoint and converge the light as it passes through the aperture stop. Also, the camera comprises a light redistribution optic (LRO) that is a thin V-shape having an apex. The LRO is centered along the optical axis with the apex pointing towards the imaging lens column. The LRO has two planar sides with each side angled 45 degrees with respect to the optical axis and each side configured to reflect and transmit the light transmitted from the imaging lens column into three independent, spatially separate images, each retaining all the spectral, polarimetric, and relative intensity information of the light from the scene. The camera comprises three image sensors, each image sensor positioned to receive one of the three independent, spatially separate images.

  • Patent number: 11457434
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) is described. The UE includes receiving circuitry configured to receive a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising a first parameter(s) used for configuring a first allocation table and a second allocation table. Each of the first allocation table and the second allocation table are used for defining a time domain allocation for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission. The receiving circuitry is also configured to detect in a UE specific search space, a downlink control information (DCI) format comprising first information used for indicating a row index to the first allocation table or the second allocation table. The DCI format is used for scheduling of the PUSCH. The UE also includes transmitting circuitry configured to perform, based on a detection of the DCI format, the PUSCH transmission based on either of the first allocation table or the second allocation table.

  • Patent number: 4412322
Abstract: A time division multiplex (TDM) switching network is disclosed in which at least part of the network comprises a space switching portion (TMS) and in which the need for duplication of the space switching portion, and like methods of achieving network reliability, is eliminated. Data from an incoming channel is partitioned into successive blocks, a prescribed number of which form a set of blocks. The blocks are of predetermined size. Each of the blocks of a set is switched via different paths of the space portion of the network. A single network fault can therefore cause the loss of only one block of data in a set. This loss can be made insignificant in the case of data representing telephone conversations. For data not representing telephone conversations, error checking and correcting information is added to the set before transmission through the space portion of the network and errors occurring during transmission are corrected thereafter.

  • Patent number: 5617570
Abstract: A server for executing operation calls by a client, including a dispatcher, a plurality of worker tasks, and a dispatcher shared memory area and worker control block for each worker task. Each operation call provided from a client is a sequence or one or more remote procedure call requests and each includes a packed buffer containing parameters. The dispatcher receives a buffer directly into the dispatcher shared memory space of the worker task selected to execute the remote procedure call request, sets the semaphore and sends a request acceptance response. The selected worker task unpacks the buffer into its memory space, executes the request, places the results into a packed buffer in its dispatcher shared memory area and sends a remote procedure call to the dispatcher. The dispatcher executes a remote procedure call to the client and sends the result buffer directly from the shared memory area.

Abstract: A robotic system includes a humanoid robot with robotic joints each moveable using an actuator(s), and a distributed controller for controlling the movement of each of the robotic joints. The controller includes a visual perception module (VPM) for visually identifying and tracking an object in the field of view of the robot under threshold lighting conditions. The VPM includes optical devices for collecting an image of the object, a positional extraction device, and a host machine having an algorithm for processing the image and positional information. The algorithm visually identifies and tracks the object, and automatically adapts an exposure time of the optical devices to prevent feature data loss of the image under the threshold lighting conditions. A method of identifying and tracking the object includes collecting the image, extracting positional information of the object, and automatically adapting the exposure time to thereby prevent feature data loss of the image.

Abstract: A radiation type oscillator including a radiation type oscillator substrate including a microwave transistor for generating negative resistance by short-duration operation and a resonant cavity structure; a high-frequency pulse signal of an oscillation frequency/frequency bandwidth determined by negative resistance produced by the short-duration operation of the microwave transistor and the resonant cavity structure is generated as a transmitted RF signal and simultaneously radiated into space. The radiation type oscillator performs oscillating operation when a received RF signal that is a reflected wave of the transmitted RF signal from an object of detection enters the radiation type oscillator, an IF signal is acquired from an IF signal output terminal owing to homodyne mixing by the radiation type oscillator itself, and this is analyzed and processed to detect the object of detection.

  • Patent number: 8698902
Abstract: A real camera image of a real space that is captured by a real camera is obtained. Color information about a plurality of sampling points in the real camera image is obtained. Next, an average color is calculated based on the obtained color information about the plurality of sampling points. Based on the calculated average color, parameters relating to the color and brightness of a light source set in a virtual space are set. A virtual object image is generated by capturing, with a virtual camera, an image of a virtual object existing in the virtual space, which virtual object is illuminated by the light source whose parameters have been set. Then, a superimposed image, in which the virtual object image is superimposed on the real camera image, is generated and displayed on a display device.

  • Publication number: 20110268215
Abstract: A quantized multi-rank beamforming scheme for multiple-antenna systems such as a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) wireless downlink. User equipment (UE) estimates downlink channel and transmit power and determines rank and power allocations. A quantized beamforming matrix is then determined by the UE using successive beamforming. The UE also determines channel quality indices (CQI) which it feeds-back to the wireless downlink base station along with the index of the quantized beamforming matrix. The base station uses the CQI information to select a UE for scheduling of downlink transmission and the quantized beamforming matrix index received from the selected UE to beamform the downlink transmission to the UE. Base station overhead and is minimized while providing near-optimal performance given the constraints of a limited feed-back channel and computational complexity of the UE.

  • Patent number: 6353834
Abstract: A message queuing system is provided that saves and stores messages and their state in an efficient single file on a single disk to enable rapid recovery from server failures. The single disk, single file storage system into which messages and their states are stored eliminates writes to three different disks, the data disk, the index structure disk and the log disk. The single disk, single file storage is made possible by clustering all information together in a contiguous space on the same disk. The result is that all writes are contained in one sweeping motion of the write head in which the write head moves only in one direction and only once to find the area where it needs to start writing messages and their states are stored.

  • Patent number: 5410143
Abstract: A system for detecting and tracking targets or objects located in the earth's shadow. The system senses and processes starlight from one or more stars. More particularly, the stellar background provides an illumination source with which targets are detected as they eclipse or occlude one or more stars. The system includes a receiver which collects incident starlight and a sensor, coupled to the receiver, for sensing the collected starlight focused thereon by the receiver and for providing a sensor output signal indicating the intensity of the sensed starlight. A signal processor, responsive to the sensor output signal, provides a target detection signal indicating whether a target has crossed the line of sight between the receiver and one or more stars. The signal processor may be further responsive to a stellar background catalog for providing the target detection signal with bearing information indicating the bearing of a detected target.
