  • Publication number: 20220150548
Abstract: In a method to improve the coding efficiency of high-dynamic range (HDR) images, a decoder parses sequence processing set (SPS) data from an input coded bitstream to detect that an HDR extension syntax structure is present in the parsed SPS data. It extracts from the HDR extension syntax structure post-processing information that includes one or more of a color space enabled flag, a color enhancement enabled flag, an adaptive reshaping enabled flag, a dynamic range conversion flag, a color correction enabled flag, or an SDR viewable flag. It decodes the input bitstream to generate a preliminary output decoded signal, and generates a second output signal based on the preliminary output signal and the post-processing information.

  • Patent number: 6498857
Abstract: A method of synthesizing an audio signal having left and right channels corresponding to an extended virtual sound source at a given apparent location in space relative to a preferred position of a listener in use is described. The information in the channels includes cues for perception of the direction of said virtual sound source from the preferred position. The extended source comprises a plurality of point virtual sources, the sound from each point source being spatially related to the sound from the other point sources, such that sound appears to be emnitted from an extended region of space. If the signal from two sound sources is the same, they are modified to be sufficiently different from one another to be separately distinguishable by a listener when they are disposed symmetrically on either side of the listener. This modification can be accomplished by filtering the two point sources using different comb filters.

  • Patent number: 4392223
Abstract: A time-space-time switching network is shown in which there is a multiple crossover of voice information from one rail to another rail in a large digital switching system. The time and control unit is divided into two rails both incoming and outgoing. Each rail multiplexes two 193 channel streams into one 386 channel stream of information. These two rails crossover in either or both the originating and terminating time switching stages but remain segregated throughout the space switching stage.

  • Patent number: 4472798
Abstract: A time division switching system having distributed control processors is disclosed. The switching system includes time-slot interchange units having associated subscriber sets and conference circuits and a time-shared space division network for interconnecting the time-slot interchange units. Each of the time-slot interchange units and the time-shared space division network are controlled by separate control processors. In response to called subscriber set identifying information from a calling subscriber set, the control processor associated with the time-shared space division network completes standard communication paths through the time-shared space division network to connect the time-slot interchange units associated with the calling and called subscriber set.

  • Patent number: 7551121
Abstract: The multi-target tracking and discrimination system (MOST) fuses with and augments existing BMDS sensor systems. Integrated devices include early warning radars, X-band radars, Lidar, DSP, and MOST which coordinates all the data received from all sources through a command center and deploys the GBI for successful interception of an object detected anywhere in space, for example, warheads. The MOST system integrates the optics for rapid detection and with the optical sensor array delivers high-speed, high accuracy positional information to radar systems and also identifies decoys. MOST incorporates space situational awareness, aero-optics, adaptive optics, and Lidar technologies. The components include telescopes or other optical systems, focal plane arrays including high-speed wavefront sensors or other focal plane detector arrays, wavefront sensor technology developed to mitigate aero-optic effects, distributed network of optical sensors, high-accuracy positional metrics, data fusion, and tracking mounts.

  • Publication number: 20080111789
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for use as a control device for controlling a computing system. The method includes a hybrid sensing system comprised of computer-vision-based pattern recognition and electronic signal transmission. The control device is embedded with a designated color light pattern and an electronic signal transmitter. The color light pattern within the field of sight of a video image capturing device is detected and identified by a computing system. Methods for configuring the color light pattern are included. The control device can be handheld or attached to a human body. The movement of the color light pattern in the 3-dimensional space will provide 3-dimensional positional information of a virtual pointer to the computing system. The activation of the electronic signal transmitter by pressing a control button on the control device will trigger input commands to the computing system.

  • Patent number: 9621275
Abstract: A method generates constant modulus multi-dimensional modulations for coherent optical communications by first projecting points in a constellation of the code onto a Poincare sphere or its higher-dimensional hyper-sphere. By using meta-heuristic procedures, nonlinear programming and gradient search methods, constellation points in the hyper-sphere are optimized in certain criteria, such as maximizing the minimum Euclidean distance, minimizing the union bound, minimizing the bit-error rate, minimizing the required signal-to-noise ratio, maximizing the nonlinear fiber reach, maximizing the phase noise tolerance, and maximizing the mutual information. Some methods use parametric unitary space-time block codes such as Grassmannian packing, and filter impulse response as well as unitary rotation over adjacent code blocks to generate near-constant modulus waveform, not only at the symbol timing, but also over the entire time.
