  • Publication number: 20110304700
Abstract: A game device 10 calculates, for each of two real cameras, position/orientation information representing a relative position and orientation with respect to a predetermined image-capture object, and based on this calculates a camera interval in the predetermined coordinate system. • Patent number: 11108211
Abstract: The invention is a Demodulator for an Optical Analog Pulse Position Modulated signal suitable for inclusion in receivers for Free Space Optical communication systems. In one embodiment the Demodulator may use the pulse position modulated optical information signal and the clock signal with different wavelengths. By proper biasing of a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier and selection of wavelengths for the information signal and the clock signal, the performance of the Demodulator is made insensitive to noise in the received signals.

  • Patent number: 5195137
Abstract: In many applications involving the coding and processing of speech signals the relevant applicable codebook is one which may be termed a sparse codebook. That is, the majority of elements in the codebook are zero valued. The searching of such a sparse codebook is accelerated in accord with the present invention by generating auxiliary information defining the sparse nature of the codebok and using this information to assist and speed up searches of the codebook. In a particular method of searching the calculation of the distance between a target vector and a stored codebook vector is enhanced by use of a distortion metric derived from energy terms and correlation terms of the codebook entries. Calculation of these energy and correlation terms is speeded up by exploiting the sparseness of the codebook entries. The non-zero elements (NZE) of the space codebook are each identified and are defined by their offset from a reference point.

  • Patent number: 4454593
Abstract: A technique for processing pictorial information to enable its display on a desired display device independent of the latter's resolution characteristics includes a unique encoding procedure and a corresponding decoding and display procedure. Attributes of each element of a picture or image (such as its color) are specified by a group of N bits. The bits are assembled to form M-bit active portions of a series of bytes. M and N need not be integrally related. Ones of the words also define the size of the elements with respect to a unit display space (the horizontal and vertical dimensions of each element can be different), the order in which the elements are arranged in the picture (e.g., left to right or vice versa) and the value of N.

  • Patent number: 8553792
Abstract: This invention provides a method for jointly optimizing network coding, channel coding, and signal constellations in non-coherent wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless relay networks for the case when transceivers cannot obtain any knowledge of channel state information (CSI) due to high-speed mobility of the transceivers. In the relay networks, two terminal transceivers simultaneously transmit data to an intermediate relaying transceiver, which in turn broadcasts mixed data using physical-layer network coding to both terminals. The embodiments of this invention exploit different blind space-time trellis-coded modulations (ST-TCM) for each user, whose codebook is jointly generated over a Grassmannian manifold. The method is provided by exponential mapping with affine-lattice convolution for joint optimization of channel coding, modulations, and network coding. The method is designed for fast fading channels with and without interleaving.

  • Patent number: 6115684
Abstract: At a smoothing spectrogram calculation portion, a triangular interpolation function having a frequency width twice that of the fundamental frequency of a signal is obtained based on information on the fundamental frequency of the signal. The interpolation function and a spectrum obtained at an adaptive frequency analysis portion are convoluted in the direction of frequency. Then, using a triangular interpolation function having a time length twice that of a fundamental period, the spectrum interpolated in the frequency direction described above is further interpolated in the temporal direction, in order to produce a smoothed spectrogram having the space between grid points on the time-frequency plane filled with the surface of a bilinear function. Using the smoothed spectrogram, a speech sound is transformed. Therefore, the influence of periodicity in the frequency direction and the temporal direction can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20070288519
Abstract: A query protocol that retrieves all pertinent information from the electronic medical record based on the patient's current diagnosis, complaint or symptom. The query of the electronic medical record will include but not be limited to all relevant prior visits/hospitalizations (including all information contained therein ie. vital signs, review of systems, physical exam findings) surgeries, procedures, radiology studies, laboratory tests, medications and allergies. The relevant information will be organized so that it is easily interpreted for viewing or printing. A list of medical abbreviations was also developed, which may be used in conjunction with the query protocol, so as to minimize storage space needed in the organization of the data.

  • Patent number: 7283751
Abstract: A method and apparatus for compensating for phase fluctuations incurred by an optical beam travelling through free space, especially a turbulent atmosphere. A transmitting station transmits a plurality of uniquely tagged optical beams through free space. The plurality of uniquely tagged optical beams are received at a receiving station, where a parameter of each uniquely tagged optical beam is quantified. Information associated with the quantified parameter for each uniquely tagged optical beam is then sent back to the transmitting station via a wireless feedback link. Using the information, the transmitting station adjusts at least one uniquely tagged optical beam to compensate for phase fluctuations.

  • Patent number: 9072969
Abstract: A three-dimensional puzzle game apparatus includes an LCD on which a three-dimensional puzzle is displayed. The three-dimensional puzzle includes a plurality of blocks arranged in each of three-dimensional directions in a virtual three-dimensional space. Furthermore, a hint numeral indicating the number of blocks to be left in a block row is displayed as information being a hint for searching a block to be left from the block row, for example. When a deleting instruction is performed on a block by utilizing a touch panel, for example, it is then determined that whether or not the block is a block to be left. When it is determined that the block is not a block to be left, the block is erased. When it is determined that all the remaining blocks are blocks to be left, it is determined that the three-dimensional puzzle is solved.

  • Patent number: 6216623
Abstract: Each barge in a group of river-going tanker barges, has a double-hull construction to protect the inner hull and avoid collision-induced cargo spills. The space between hulls is partitioned to individual empty, dry compartments with a vertical, open bottomed, measuring tube fixed in each. A closed-bottom master tube is fixed in one compartment. All tubes have a quick-connect, above-deck, flange to receive an ultrasonic transducer thereon. A hand-held measuring instrument containing a computer and controls and information display contains a transducer which is selectively pulsed to periodically send ultrasonic signals down the tube, and receive echo signals, with elapsed time representing the depth of a signal reflector surface which is the master tube bottom or, for the measuring tubes, the bottom of a dry compartment or the surface of liquid in a leaking compartment. A unique bar code with each tube, distinguishes it and the barge from all others. The measuring instrument includes a code reader.

  • Patent number: 6650402
Abstract: Apparatus and method is provided for 3-D measurement and visualization of cloud formations using ceilometers and computer software. Data collected from the ceilometers contains cloud range information in polar coordinates (r,&thgr;,&pgr;) which is then converted to a cloud height depiction in a 3-D space. Visualization of data is enhanced by animating consecutive sets of data in a time loop to show the movement and evolution of the clouds over the measurement site during an extended period of time.
