The user input is placed in a variable. The user input is retrieved from the variable through a second program. The user input is processed by the second program to form a result. The result is presented in a second instance of the browser.

Abstract: Computer-based methods and systems are described wherein at least one content provider, a portal and a user are coupled to a communications network or content delivery network. Abstract: A method of customizing performance of a browser for a given network connection of a user, comprising upon launching of the browser, issuing a request to a benchmarking server and returning given data from the benchmarking server to the browser. The given data is used to calculate connection speed data that is passed in a client request to a web server. This connection speed data is then referenced by either the client side or server side to formulate web pages “best” suited for the the connection speed in question.

Abstract: Macro control of streaming digital content through servers where digital content is transcoded into streams of multimedia data in dependence upon remote director instructions including hyperlinked URLs. Embodiments include recording digital content, storing in computer memory macros comprising a URL and the first time when the URL was invoked to control digital content, the macros being stored in the order in which the URLs are first invoked; reading from computer memory the macros in the order in which the macros were stored; invoking each URL of each macro as a hyperlink at a second time, the second time being dependent upon the first time; retrieving, transcoding, selecting for inclusion in output streams, and communicating to client devices, in dependence upon remote director instructions, the digital content.

Abstract: A system and method for system for electronic communication, in which functional enhancements may be added that require no modification or replacement of the content-storing servers and is transparent to web browser software. The system includes a front-end proxy server and at least one back-end server. The front-end proxy server receives a content request from a user system, processes the content request, and transmits the processed content request to a back-end server. The front-end proxy server receives a content item corresponding to the processed content request from the back-end server and transmits the content item to the user system. The back-end server comprises a content storage device containing a plurality of content items. The back-end server receives processed content requests from the front-end proxy server, retrieves a content item corresponding to the content request and transmits the retrieved content item to the front-end proxy server.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for managing results in a locale independent manner in a multi-node networked data processing system is provided. In one embodiment, a first node sends a command request to a second node. The command request contains a command and a locale in which the text of the result is desired. The first node receives the results of execution from the command request sent to and executed on the second node. The result generated by the second node in response to the command request includes one or more messages, wherein each message contains a unique message identifier, locale in which its associated text is stored, and text associated with the message. Responsive to a determination that the locale of the message text is in a locale different from a desired locale, the first node replaces the message text contained within the result with message text corresponding to the desired locale to produce a modified result and sends the modified result to the requesting client node.
