Patent number: 8737575Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling the upgrade of a VoIP endpoint device by downloading a firmware component to support CALEA related monitoring and recording of conversations for all calls originated or terminated by the endpoint device are disclosed. The upgraded CALEA firmware component can be activated by the network on demand or when the signaling information to set up a watched call is received. Once the recording is completed it can be translated into a standard audio format file that can be uploaded transparently to the network and sent in near real time to the appropriate CALEA server.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2005Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Marian Croak, Hossein Eslambolchi

Patent number: 7912039Abstract: A method and apparatus for blocking at least one pay-per-use feature in a communications network is described. In one embodiment, a request to initiate at least one pay-per-use feature from at least one endpoint device associated with a subscriber is received. A determination of whether a blocking function has been activated for the at least one pay-per-use feature is then made. Afterwards, the request to initiate the at least one pay-per-use feature is blocked if the blocking function is activated.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2005Date of Patent: March 22, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Marian Croak, Hossein Eslambolchi

Publication number: 20080317227Abstract: The present invention enables the calling party to register multiple addresses of frequently called parties with a packet-switched network service provider, e.g., a VoIP network service provider, and have the network dials through the numbers on behalf of the calling party until the called party is reached or the list of available phone numbers has been exhausted. Optionally, the network can intersperse each call by asking the calling party if he or she wants to dial a particular phone number of the called party from the list of available phone numbers, and the network can dial the selected phone number.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2004Publication date: December 25, 2008Inventors: Marian Croak, Hossein Eslambolchi

Patent number: 8295461Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling a subscriber who is originating a call to a called party endpoint to specify call handling treatments when a busy or a no answer network condition is encountered when calling the called party endpoint with no subscribed network based voice mail service are disclosed. The subscriber, for example, can re-originate the call that is originally directed to a home phone number of the called party to a cellular phone number of the called party instead upon encountering a busy or no answer network condition.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2005Date of Patent: October 23, 2012Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Marian Croak, Hossein Eslambolchi

Patent number: 7613113Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a capability for placing a slight delay in processing call setup and termination signaling messages in conferencing applications so that the call processing rate requirement on a Call Control Element (CCE) is lowered. For example, allowing conferencing participants of a conference call to join a conference bridge over a 90 second period will significantly improve the processing load on the CCE than allowing them to join in over a 30 second period. In one embodiment, the present invention introduces a configurable delay in the processing of signaling messages for call setups and terminations for high volume calls onto conference bridges.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2005Date of Patent: November 3, 2009Assignee: AT&T Corp.Inventors: Marian Croak, Hossein Eslambolchi

Patent number: 7965700Abstract: The present invention enables the CCE to store intelligence about the services the subscribers use as companion data to the IP route to reach the desired user. The present invention introduces a service indicator to allow the CCE to distinguish whether a call requires advanced application processing. If no advanced application processing is needed, the CCE uses its companion data of IP route to setup a call without communicating with an application server. This would enable the CCE to direct calls to advance application servers only when subscribers required advanced application processing, thereby reducing the overall processing time required to setup a call to avoid the problem of signaling timers expiring unnecessarily.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2004Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Marian Croak, Hossein Eslambolchi

Patent number: 7801115Abstract: Method and apparatus for data mining in a communication network is described. In one example, telephony service and data service is provided to an entity via a communication network. Customer specific information is collected for accesses to the entity via the communication network by customers. The customer specific information is analyzed to determine, for each of the customers, an access pattern related to accessing the telephony service and the data service. The access pattern of each customer may be used to help the entity determine if a segment of customers tend to access the telephony service or the data service, and if they do so simultaneously or across different points of time, as well as if they access one service more than another. The entity may use this information to determine if data services actually increase or decrease the need for call agents to handle calls via the telephony service.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2005Date of Patent: September 21, 2010Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Marian Croak, Hossein Eslambolchi
