Patent number: 9766036Abstract: A hand guard-to-barrel clamping system having provisions for internal clamping fasteners is disclosed. A hand guard assembly includes upper and lower members each having bores tangential to a longitudinal axis of the assembly. The bores are arranged such that fasteners can be inserted through the bores for securing the upper and lower members together, thereby clamping the hand guard assembly to the firearm. Such fasteners are internal to the hand guard assembly, which provides a slim design that is easier to hold.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2015Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: Sig Sauer, Inc.Inventor: William C. Publication number: 20140196343Abstract: A locking adjustable cheek rest comprising an upper U-shaped portion and a lower portion located on the stock of a rifle or other firearm. The U-shaped portion is biased against the lower portion, such that the walls of the U-shaped upper portion press against the lower portion, thereby locking the upper portion in position. A first release and a second release are depressed to release the bias and enable the upper portion to be raised and lowered relative to the lower portion. Interlocking mechanisms located on the upper and lower portions facilitate locking of the cheek rest in a position determined by the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2014Publication date: July 17, 2014Applicant: Sig Sauer, Inc.Inventors: John Wilson, David C. Patent number: 9360272Abstract: An adjustable buttstock clamp for a rifle is disclosed which includes a cam lever having a mechanical locking feature configured to engage with a groove in a buttstock extension shaft when in the locked position. A buttstock recoil pad may be attached to an extension shaft that can telescope in and out of the body of the buttstock, allowing the user to adjust the length of pull of the rifle and angle of the recoil pad. In one embodiment, the shaft includes a number of grooves on its surface along the length of the shaft and the shaft is held in place using a band clamp that is activated by the cam lever. When the cam lever is in the locked position, the locking feature engages with one of the grooves of the shaft to hold the buttstock recoil pad at the desired length and angle.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2015Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: SIG SAUER, INC.Inventor: David B. Patent number: 10591247Abstract: A handguard attachment assembly for a firearm is disclosed. The assembly includes a handguard with an elongate structure extending between a first end and a second end, where the handguard has at least one opening proximate the first end. A flange insert is received in an opening on a first side of the handguard and engages the handguard. A fastener secures the flange insert to a connector positioned over the barrel nut. The fastener can be tightened to draw the handguard to the barrel nut. The connector can be a bridge connector positioned on or over the barrel nut within the handguard, or can be a connector with a flange portion that engages the second side of the handguard and has a connector body that extends towards the flange insert on the first side, to name a few examples.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2019Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Sig Sauer, Inc.Inventors: Reed Hubbell, William C. Daley, Jr., Harry Andrew Packard, David B. Hopkins

Patent number: 9746281Abstract: An adjustable stock assembly includes a housing, a stock rail, a release, a key movable with respect to the release, a latch rotatable about a latch pivot between a latched position, an unlatched position and a disassembly position, and a latch cam pin coupled to the release. The housing is extendable and retractable with respect to the stock rail. The stock rail has a slot and one or more recesses adjacent to the slot that can engage the latch, thereby preventing disassembly of the rail from the housing and further securing the rail in a particular configuration. When partially depressed along with the key, the release disengages the latch from the stock rail recesses, allowing the housing to extend and retract within its adjustment range. The housing can be disassembled from the stock rail when the key and release are fully depressed.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2016Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Assignee: SIG SAUER INC.Inventors: John Wilson, Cory J. Patent number: 8347540Abstract: A handguard system for connecting an accessory to a firearm has a tubular body having a bore size to closely receive the body of the barrel nut. The tubular body has a tapered wedge portion that defines a gap therein. There may be a tapered clamp element adapted to fit over the wedge. The clamp element may be operable to squeeze the gap as the clamp element is pushed onto the wedge. The squeezing of the gap is operable to clamp the tubular body to the body of the barrel nut. The tubular body and the body of the barrel nut may each include a mating feature that prevents longitudinal movement of the tubular body while the mating features are engaged. The tubular body and the upper receiver may each include a mating feature that prevents rotational movement of the tubular body while the mating features are engaged.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2009Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Sig Sauer, Inc.Inventor: Christopher M.
