Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a data reader for reading data from a device associated with a user. In various embodiments, the data reader is or includes a magnetic strip reader, a chip card reader, a Near Field Communication device or other RFID device, an IR communication device or other communication device configured to read, extract or otherwise receive data or information associated with a user, such as financial data, personal data or otherwise. In some embodiments, the data reader reads financial data such as bank account data from a transaction device such as a bank card (credit and/or debit), a chip card or the like and communicates some or all the data to another device, such as a transaction apparatus and/or a mobile device of a user.
