Abstract: Disclosed herein are compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which Ar is phenyl or 1-naphthyl; R.sup.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are joined form a heterocyclic amine radical selected from the group consisting of 1-pyrrolidinyl, piperidino, morpholino and 4-(lower alkyl)-1-piperazinyl. The compounds are antidepressant agents and methods for their preparation and use also are disclosed.

Abstract: An orthopedic cast package is disclosed comprised of a vapor-proof container having disposed therein a smaller cylindrical role of orthopedic tape wetted with a solution of a thermoplastic polymer in a non-toxic volatile solvent having a polymer concentration of at least about 20% by weight. The tape roll is disposed in a spaced relationship away from the sides and bottom of the container which is opened at the top.

Abstract: Prostaglandin derivatives of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 each are hydrogen or lower alkyl, X is hydroxy and Y is hydrogen or X and Y together are oxo, Z is CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 or trans CH.dbd.CH, m is an integer from one to three and n is an integer from two to five, with the proviso that at least one of R.sup.4, R.sup.5 or R.sup.6 is hydrogen, are disclosed together with a process for their preparation. The compounds in which Z is CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 and the process are new. The new derivatives possess hypotensive, antihypertensive, bronchospasmolytic, gastric acid secretion inhibiting, abortifacient, estrus synchronizing and ovulation regulating properties. These compounds also inhibit the aggregation of platelets and promote the disaggregation of aggregated platelets. Methods for their use are also disclosed.

Abstract: Pyranoindole and thiopyranoindole derivatives characterized by having an amino(lower)alkyl radical attached to either or both the 1 and 9 position of a pyrano[3,4-b]indole or thiopyrano[3,4-b]indone nucleus are disclosed. The amino portion of the amino(lower)alkyl radical may be further substituted with one or two lower alkyl groups or incorporated into a heterocyclic amine radical. The derivatives having the amino(lower)alkyl radical only at position 1 are further substituted at position 1 and may be optionally substituted at positions 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. The derivatives having the amino(lower)alkyl radical only at position 9 possess two substituents at position 1 and may be optionally substituted at position 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The derivatives having an amino(lower)alkyl radical at both positions 1 and 9 are further substituted at position 1 and may be optionally substituted at positions 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Methods for the preparation and use of these derivatives are also disclosed.

Abstract: 4,1-Benzoxazonine derivatives characterized by having an alkyl radical at the 3-position as well as being further substituted at the 3-position are disclosed. The derivatives are optionally further substituted at positions 1,2,6 and 7. The 4,1-benzoxazine derivatives of this invention are useful for treating hypertension and microbial infections. Methods for the preparation and use of these derivatives are described.
