  • Patent number: 5035258
Abstract: A valve assembly has a body portion (11) which can be removably receivable in a receptacle (10). The body carries the valve element such as a gate which controls fluid through a flowpath in the body. The openings of a flowpath in the receptacle accommodate annular sealing members (23, 24) which are movable axially in the opening. Means such as a lever arrangement (32, 33) are coupled to each sealing members and are contactable by the body (11) on its insertion in the receptacle such that the sealing members are moved axially toward the body to seal around the flowpath openings of the body.

  • Patent number: 5029812
Abstract: A gate valve includes a gate cavity (18), a flowbore (14, 16) communicating with the gate cavity and a gate (20) for opening and closing flow through the flowbore. A valve seat (42) is provided on each side of the gate. Each valve seat (42) has inner and outer C-ring seals (52, 54) on its end surface for sealing against a body sealing surface (46). The seals are energized by an assembly which includes a disc spring (62) disposed around the valve seat (42).

  • Patent number: 5027947
Abstract: A reclosable package includes a container to hold a commercial article. A portion of the back of the container is left open to form an area sufficient to remove the commercial article from the container. A sleeve, working in a sliding relationship with the container, is used to cover the removal area for shipment and display. The sleeve may be removed by the customer to reveal the removal area, allowing the customer to remove or return the commercial article without the need to damage the container. The same sleeve is reused to cover the removal area without damaging the package or the commercial article.

  • Patent number: 5020638
Abstract: A system for catching liquids dripping from the underside of a vehicle and disposal thereof includes a tray member, an absorbent pad and a bag assembly for containing the pad. When the absorbent pad becomes saturated with liquids, the mouth of the bag assembly is opened and the absorbent pad is placed therein. The soiled absorbent pad may then be disposed of.

  • Patent number: 5004994
Abstract: A low voltage high-amp circuit breaker (20) having a substantially reactangular bimetallic bistable element (41). The bistable element is attached to have one end move from a first normal electrically conductive position to a second non-electrically conductive position. The manual reset circuit breaker includes a manual reset lever (29) and a non-conductive heat resistant extension blade (64) connected to the reset lever via a rotatable shaft (56). The extension blade being positioned adjacent the moveable end of the bistable element and when the element is moved to its second position, the blade is moved to prevent the element from returning to its first conductive position until the circuit breaker is manually reset. A push-to-trip button (80) pushes plate (88) downward causing fingers (84) to move upward lifting bracket (92) to deform bistable element (41) placing the breaker in an open circuit condition.

  • Patent number: 4988969
Abstract: A subminiature fuse is disclosed comprising two terminals (20, 30), two substrates (80, 90), a fusible conductor (140), an insulating coating (180), and a unitary housing (170). The unitary housing is protected from the interrupt arc by the substrates (80, 90) and the housing (170) is sealed to provide increased mechanical strength, thus reducing the risk of a catastrophic failure of the fuse. The upper portion of the fuse terminals are shaped into finger like projections (70) adaptable to mechanically holding the fusible conductor (140) and a substrate (80), thus facilitating the manufacturing process. In one embodiment the fusible conductor and adjacent portions of the terminals and substrates are coated with a insulating coating or adhesive (180). The insulating coating (180) conducts heat away from the fusible conductor (140) during normal operation. To further protect the housing in the event of a short circuit interruption, a substrate (90) is placed between the housing and the fusible conductor.

  • Patent number: 4981011
Abstract: A lawnmower engine cutoff system interrupts the electrical flow to the ignition system of an engine when a predetermined weight of clippings is contained within the catch bag for grass clippings. Mechanical movement is generated by the weight of the grass clippings contained in the catch bag. This movement is then sent to a switch in the ignition system of the engine. When the movement reaches a predetermined level, the switch in the electrical system of the engine is opened and the engine ceases operation.

  • Patent number: 4976211
Abstract: A system for launching a boat includes a platform which is movable horizontally over the edge of a seawall, a dock or the like. Once the platform has been moved over the edge of the seawall, it then may be lowered vertically under the surface of the water. Once under the surface of the water, the boat may be floated away from its support on the platform.

  • Patent number: 4961675
Abstract: A device for adjustably controlling the position and set-back of a piston rod which extends from a damping cylinder used on an airfeed peck drill. The device includes a plurality of ball members which surround the piston rod. The ball members are positioned against the piston rod by a spring biased cone having a tapered internal surface. The balls are further positioned with respect to the cone by a spring biased ball separator which is movable with respect to the cone by air pressure. The travel of the piston rod is made adjustable by a nut member threadably engaged with the housing.
