  • Patent number: 8084393
Abstract: A potato treatment composition and method assists in the suberization process. In accord with the preferred embodiment, a potato treatment composition incorporates organic material, which may be derived from organic waste or residue, preferably from oilseed hulls and most preferably from ground or powdered oilseed sunflower seed hulls, into powder compositions. Incorporating organic matter having elevated oil content greatly reduces generation of fugitive dust, reduces clumping as compared to known fungicide dusts, and reduces shrinkage of potato seed pieces due to moisture depletion. The use of ground or powdered sunflower seed hulls as a carrier and/or diluent makes beneficial and productive use of an organic residue which is a byproduct of other industries.

  • Patent number: 8048184
Abstract: A baffle tool operative to manually install and remove commercial grill baffles and filters has a longitudinally extensive handle. First and second filter plates pivotally attach to the handle and are operative to couple through a set of prongs with a commercial grill filter. An actuating handle is moveable relative to the longitudinally extensive handle. First and second linking rods extend between the filter plates and actuating handle, and transmit motion of the actuating handle to the first and second filter plates. Movement of the actuating handle thereby causes the filter plates to move relative to the longitudinally extensive handle. A lock is also provided for selectively locking the actuating handle to the longitudinally extensive handle and preventing motion therebetween, which facilitates the securement of a baffle to the tool.

  • Patent number: 8006680
Abstract: A paint ball gun barrel indexing pin includes a plunger, cover, body, and first and second magnets that bias the plunger within the barrel. Magnetic coupling is used between rigid components that are used to position paint balls within a paint ball gun. In a “push-push” arrangement, a pair of magnets are oriented with like poles facing each other. When force is applied to one of the pair of magnets, the force will be transmitted through the magnetic fields to the second magnet. This magnetic coupling offers low resistance to movement when the magnets are in an initial substantially spaced apart relationship. Such low force coupling ensures gentle handling of the paint balls. However, as the limits of travel are approached, the magnetic coupling will exponentially increase forces between the magnets, preventing a “bottoming out” of the coupling.

  • Patent number: 7992341
Abstract: An ice fishing tip-up incorporates a visual marker rod which operates separately from the tip-up strike indicator. The visual marker rod is pivotal between a storage position parallel to and within the plane of the base and a position generally perpendicular thereto. To separately operate the tip-up strike indicator, a flag stay holds the strike indicator flag prior to a fish strike. The flag stay deviates from the longitudinal axis of a pivoting inner rod, in turn coupled to the spool, by more than ninety degrees, such that the inner rod and flag stay may be positioned to capture and hold a tip-up indicator flag in an orientation generally parallel to the tip-up base. The flag stay, in addition to angle, also incorporates an apparatus to hold the tip-up indicator flag at more than one position along the flag stay, thereby permitting reliable and repetitive setting of different activation forces.
