  • Patent number: 6063295
Abstract: Apparatus to increase the level of oxygen ingested by livestock by oxygenation of the livestock water supply includes an enclosed tank having a top and having an inlet for admitting water from a supply of water and an outlet for discharging water from the tank. The tank has a first inlet port for introduction of compressed air into the tank from an air compressor. The tank has a second inlet port for allowing introduction of hydrogen peroxide. A float is located in the tank to selectively control the introduction of compressed air into the tank by activation of the air compressor when the water level reaches a preselected high point as the water in the tank absorbs oxygen from the air pocket above the water level. The float also opens a valve in an overflow tube disposed within the tank and keeps the valve open until the float reaches a predetermined low point as water is forced out the overflow tube by compressed air entering the tank.

  • Patent number: 6048308
Abstract: An improved single use vaginal speculum with lateral retracting bills is disclosed. Each of the lateral retracting bills is supported on an axially rotatable shaft mounted to a side of the yoke of the lift mechanism which raises the lower bill assembly away from the lower bill and handle member. The lateral bills separate by action of levers which are moved when the upper bill is rotated about its pivot on the yoke. The lift mechanism may be slid along a channel in the handle when a push button is depressed and latched when the push button is released. The observation opening of the vaginal speculum is enlarged and the lateral bills are supported to prevent their obstructing the observation of the user in examining the cervix and vaginal walls. The handle mounted to the lower bill is rotated rearward from a perpendicular and finger indentations are formed around the handle.

  • Patent number: 6018879
Abstract: Apparatus for use in setting the specified camber angle in the alignment of automobile, sport utility vehicle and small truck wheels mounted on combination strut/spring suspensions, independent suspensions equipped with non-accessible modified two bolt slotted struts, or independent suspensions equipped with accessible modified two bolt slotted struts. A bar is affixed to the wheel to be aligned which bar extends above the wheel. Through the top portion of the bar is passed top adjustment assembly which affixes to the spring, strut or strut housing and is moved inwardly or outwardly after the wheel assembly attached to the strut has been loosened thereby establishing the proper camber angle of the wheel and retaining the wheel in the appropriate orientation until the mechanic tightens the wheel restraining bolts or assembly of the strut.

  • Patent number: 6019711
Abstract: Exercise apparatus for building strength in the lower extremities while reducing the risk of injury to knee joints. A weight-bearing lever is pivotable upon a first post located forward and to the side of a seat for the user. A second pivotable arm which has a cushioned leg bar mounted to it is pivotable about a second pivot point on the first post. A roller bearing extends from the pivotable arm and is received by a bearing race fixed to the underside of the weight-bearing lever. As the user moves the leg bar forward and upward, the roller urges the weight-bearing lever upward. The Rolling Fulcrum.TM. pivot support of the weight-bearing lever moves away from the user reducing the moment arm of the weight on the weight-bearing arm as the user's legs approach full extension at the knee.

  • Patent number: 6013913
Abstract: A novel design for a time-of-flight mass spectrometer capable of tandem mass spectrometry measurements with high resolution and high sensitivity using two variable reflectrons in a co-linear geometry. Variably switched reflectrons are oriented coaxially on opposing ends of the ion flight region allowing multiple passes of the ions along the flight region permitting high resolution, tandem mass spectrometry experiments to be performed. An electrostatic particle guide is incorporated to ensure high ion transmission efficiency in a multi-pass system. In addition to permitting the high transmission efficiency of ions, the EPG can be used in a bipolar pulsed mode to isolate ions of interest for structural study.

  • Patent number: 5957817
Abstract: An improved exercise apparatus for muscles of the upper extremities, mid-back, and posterior shoulder girdle provides negative variable resistance as the muscles are contracted over a wide range of motion while maintaining proper joint alignment in the shoulders, elbows, and wrists. A movable weight carrying assembly has a transverse handlebar from the ends of which extend handle members which the user grasps to pivot the weight carrying assembly toward himself or herself while moving the arms from an outstretched position to a position with the elbows flexed, scapulae adducted, and the trapezius muscles contracted in a shrugging action. The weight carrying assembly is adjustable for varying heights of user.

  • Patent number: 5954139
Abstract: Soil tillage apparatus with a hydraulic reset mechanism has a rigid vertical shank mounted to an elongate arm fixed below a lower plate which is pivotable upon an upper plate. The upper plate is adapted for mounting to an agricultural tool bar. A hydraulic cylinder is vertically mounted to the upper plate and is biased by pressurized hydraulic fluid to resist extension of the ram therefrom. The hydraulic cylinder is pivotal upon the upper plate and the ram is fixed by a pin to the elongate arm. A pressure reducing/relieving valve is adjustable to supply a fixed hydraulic fluid pressure to the hydraulic cylinder at all times.

  • Patent number: 5897473
Abstract: Exercise apparatus for building strength in the lower extremities while reducing the risk of injury to knee joints. A bench provides a surface on which a user may lie in a prone position. A pivot support member stands beside the bench. A weight-bearing lever is pivotable upon the pivot support member at a horizontal pivot located alongside the bench for the user. A second pivotable lever which has a cushioned leg bar mounted to it is pivotable about a second pivot point on the pivot support member. An arm depends below and perpendicularly to the second pivotable lever. A roller bearing extends from the arm and is received by a bearing race fixed to the underside of the weight-bearing lever. As a user lying prone on the bench moves the leg bar upward by flexion of the leg muscles below the knee, the roller urges the weight-bearing lever upward. The Rolling Fulcrum.TM.

  • Patent number: 5878695
Abstract: An improved adjustable hog gate for use in forming pens is provided with a stationary section and an adjustable section which may be extended from, or retracted onto, the stationary section. The stationary section is bounded by an end plate which receives the lateral bars of the adjustable member while the adjustable section has an end plate which receives the lateral bars of the stationary member. The improved gate may be used in a confinement facility pen system which allows the central alley of the confinement facility which is defined between opposing series of pens to be adjustable in width. The alley may be expanded in width by urging each of the improved hog gates into a retracted position while animals are moved along the alley and then manually extending each of the invention gates to narrow the alley and provide a larger effective pen area for containment of hogs. An alternative embodiment provides a modification device for converting a fixed length hog gate to an adjustable hog gate.
