  • Patent number: 4929005
Abstract: A device for transferring electric power and/or information between two parts which are movable one with respect to the other, in particular between a door frame and a door leaf or an opening window leaf, mounted in this door frame, comprising a first coil wound on a first magnetic core and a second coil wound on a second magnetic core, the first coil being intended to be connected to an electric power source and to be mounted with its core on one of said parts, the second coil being intended to be mounted with its core on the other part, so that both said cores determine a magnetic circuit in at least one determined position of said parts one with respect to the other in order to so allow a variable electric current travelling in said first coil to induce a variable magnetic flux in both cores, and creates an electric current in the second coil when the latter is connected to a closed electric circuit.

  • Patent number: 4850685
Abstract: A projection-type color display device. The display device includes a light source which provides light and a color separation member which receives the light and which separates the received light into the different colors of red, blue and green light. A light valve device receives the red, blue and green light and modulates the light to produce images. A color synthesis cube prism synthesizes the three monochromatic lights modulated by the light valve. A projection lens system projects the synthesized image onto a screen for viewing.

  • Patent number: 4743096
Abstract: The present invention provides, in an active matrix liquid crystal display device of the type including non-linear elements, for the application of an ON pulse-width modulation signal by the data line driving circuit at the rearward end of each selected period, during which the voltage corresponding to the duty-cycle of the selected signal is applied to the liquid crystal layer. The result is accurate reproduction of gray-scale images in the display under conditions of high duty-cycle driving. Further, cross-talk between columns caused by the data signal is controlled by supplying a signal voltage which eliminates the residual charges in the liquid crystal layer at the end of each selected period.

  • Patent number: 4723855
Abstract: A compact printer has a type drum having at least one row of types, the types, including at least one space, being arranged on the periphery of the drum at regular intervals. The type drum is rotated by a stepper motor and a hammer member is provided for moving a selected type towards the paper for printing. The stepper motor is turned by signals which correspond to each step necessary to move the type drum through at least one pitch distance between types. Ratchet teeth, moving with the type drum, can be engaged by a blocking lever when rotation of the type drum is reversed, so as to stop vibration of the type drum at the time of printing.

  • Patent number: 4719133
Abstract: The invention relates to treating wood with a wood preservative by applying in one or more recesses made in the wood solid material together with the wood preservative in such a way that the solid material fills up the recesses at least partly, said solid material having a lower water content than the wood treated and exerts a reinforcing effect upon this wood, when it absorbs water and in result expands and/or when a permanent pressure is exerted upon it.Furthermore, the invention relates to products to be used for this treatment, with which by one single act the filling-up of a recess in the wood to be treated and the closing thereof can be effected.

  • Patent number: 4671616
Abstract: A liquid crystal optical device including a plurality of optical shutters is provided. The optical device includes a first glass substrate having N common electrodes disposed thereon and a second glass substrate having N signal electrodes disposed thereon, the glass substrates spaced apart and opposed to each other so that the electrodes are crossed. A liquid crystal material including a nematic liquid crystal having dielectric anisotropy which becomes 0 at a crossing frequency (fC) of 100 KHz or below at atmospheric temperatures including a optically active material encapsulated between the glass substrates. Polarizing plates are disposed on the outside of the liquid crystal panel and the device is driven in a N time-sharing mode by applying the driving signals to the common electrode and the signal electrodes. The optical device is particularly well suited for use in an optical printer in view of the rapid response times.

  • Patent number: 4670908
Abstract: A multi-ply shirt collar formed of two creased outer plies of fabric having a thermoplastic resin deposited on the inner surfaces and an improved method of fabricating the collar are provided. The edges of the fabric with resin are folded in over an interlining piece having a dimension corresponding substantially to the final collar and subjected to heat and pressure to fuse the fabric to the shape of the collar. A complimentary creased fabric/interlining intermediate or creased fabric is placed in back-to-back alignment and edge stitch along the folded edges to form the shirt collar.

  • Patent number: 4660030
Abstract: This invention is directed to an improved liquid crystal video display device. An interlacing video display technique is utilized and scanning signals are provided to every other scanning electrode line in sequential order, shifting selected lines every frame. An additional selected voltage is provided during the time period which overlaps the selected scanning electrode lines to the adjacent non-selected electrodes both above and below the selected scanning electrode lines. According to the invention, a high resolution display is provided while reducing associated flicker by driving all scanning lines in the desired order.

  • Patent number: 4655264
Abstract: A ring encircles produce placed on a work table. Tie ribbon is fed by pressure rollers around the inner periphery of the ring to form a complete loop. A first gripper clamps and retains the free end of the ribbon against a second gripper. The pressure rollers operate in reverse retracting excess ribbon about the produce. A friction clutch, operative only for reverse ribbon feeding, allows for ribbon slippage as the ribbon tightens around the produce. Then the second gripper clamps the other end of the ribbon against a twister head and a twister mechanism rotates the clamped ends of the ribbon about a common axis twisting the ribbon ends together. Shearing edges sever the engaged ribbon from a ribbon supply during twisting. The grippers and twister mechanism are at ends of the concentric support rods and tubes, and the grippers in clamping move along the rotational axis of the twister mechanism.
