  • Patent number: 4604555
Abstract: An intensity modulation circuit for a cathode-ray display device. Designating circuitry produces digital signals representative of at least two areas of the display of the cathode-ray tube. Analog signal producing circuitry produces from said digital signal analog video signals having at least two brightness grades, one of said grades being associated with each of said areas of display. Intensity modulation circuitry is coupled to the analog signal producing circuitry for varying the amplification of the analog video signal in at least one but not all of said grades. Output amplification circuitry receives the analog video signals and drives the cathode-ray tube in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 4599005
Abstract: A step motor driving control mechanism for use in an electronic timepiece for reducing the current consumption thereof is provided. Load detection circuitry detects the load condition of the step motor and selectively produces a load condition signal representative of a predetermined load condition thereof. Driving and control circuitry is provided for receiving a low frequency timekeeping signal produced by a divider circuit and a load detection signal when same is selectively produced by the load detection circuitry. In response to the presence or absence of a load detection signal applied thereto, the drive and control circuitry is adapted to vary the duration of the pulse width of a drive signal applied to the step motor to effect a driving of same.

  • Patent number: 4597944
Abstract: A reagent detection system for detecting an agglutination reaction in a reagent is provided. A light source directs monochromatic light toward an isoplanar sample field. A detector is provided for detecting a change in the amount of light scattered from the isoplanar sample field caused by the agglutination reaction of the reagents. The agglutination reaction is controlled by the intervention of a kinetic activator and results in consistently reproducible sensitive detection of the agglutination reaction.

  • Patent number: 4596165
Abstract: A clutch piston slidably mounted for motion in the axial direction on the turbine shaft or the turbine runner of a torque converter comprising a pump, an impeller, a turbine runner and a stator. A direct coupling clutch is positioned between the clutch piston and the housing of a torque converter. Pressurized oil is supplied for releasing the clutch within an oil chamber between one side of the clutch piston and the housing. A converter pressure is continuously applied to the oil chamber and to the other side of the clutch piston, which is the operating chamber of the torque converter. Thereby, the direct coupling clutch is continuously released. When the automatic transmission is in a selected high speed position, a line pressure higher than the converter pressure, is applied to the operating chamber causing the direct coupling clutch to engage. Converter pressure is applied continuously to the operating chamber of the torque converter through one port of a check valve.
