Abstract: In an arrangement of a collecting receptacle integrated into a production machine in the tobacco-processing industry for collecting tobacco products sorted out from the production machine during a production process, the collecting receptacle is removable from the production machine and is comprised of two parts.

Abstract: In a roof window with a frame structure and an openable, pane supporting sash structure, the top, bottom and side members (1-8) of the frame and sash structures are for the major part made as wood profiles, which on the outwards facing sides are covered by covering members of weather-shielding material connected with the wood profiles by means of engagement and securing means. The covering members (11, 12, 15, 17, 20, 21, 32) consist of an upper and a lower cap member (20, 21) on the frame and sash side members (3, 4, 7, 8) designed as flat, trough-shaped profiles with identical, substantially U-shaped profile cross section comprising an exterior wall (20a, 21a) and two low side walls (20w, 21b-c).

Abstract: In the drainage and sealing system, an external rain shield is designed as a separate flexible sealant strip (38,58,59), and an internal drain trench (44, 64) is provided on a separate drain element (40, 60) extending in parallel to and at a distance from the external sealant strip (38, 58, 59). The drain element (40) and the external sealant strip (38) comprise a flange portion (41, 38b) for releasable securing to a frame member of a panel in the panel system. The separate drain element (40, 60) can be designed as an internal cover strip where the drain trench (44, 64) is provided in an essentially U-shaped portion (43, 63), and where the drain element on the side facing away from the drain trench (44, 64) has a portion (42, 62) for reception of an internal sealant strip (45, 65).

Abstract: An apparatus for applying printed matter to the running web of cigarette paper or the like in a machine for making rod-shaped smokers' products employs a roller train which transfers printing ink from one or more sources to a rotary carrier of one or more stamps serving to apply trademarks, manufacturer's names and/or other printed matter to longitudinally spaced apart portions of the running web. At least one roller of the roller train has a resilient cylindrical outer layer which contacts the peripheral surface of at least one other roller of the train and surrounds an adjustable rotary eccentric which biases the cylindrical outer layer against the at least one other roller with a force determined by a prestressed coil spring. The eccentric is oscillatable axially against the opposition of a second spring, such as a diaphragm spring.

Abstract: A web of air-permeable uniting band material for use in a filter tipping machine is advanced lengthwise by a first pair of driven rollers and a second pair of driven rollers, first through a magazine which is located between the two pairs of rollers, thereupon around a roller-shaped flanged adjustable braking device which is located upstream of the second pair of rollers, and around an adjustable curling device between the braking device and the second pair of rollers. The braking action is regulated for the purpose of subjecting the running web to a predictable curling action. This enhances the quality of filter cigarettes wherein the tobacco-containing and the filter material-containing parts are connected to each other by adhesive-coated uniting bands constituting sections of the thus treated web.

Abstract: A roof window assembly is composed of a window component, a main frame component and, optionally, an integrated flashing component. The window component may be used independently and without modifications for a roof window installation employing a curb-frame. The window component features a novel design with an glazing element fitted in a profiled sheet metal frame, which can be made from a single continuous sheet metal profile bent into a polygonal frame shape with corner junctions. In both fixed and ventilating versions of the roof window assembly identical connecting members into open mutual engagement at the top side of the window and main frame components provides for easy mounting and dismounting of the window component with respect to the main frame component.

Abstract: The orbiting knife or knives on a rotary knife holder in a tobacco shredding machine is or are automatically adjusted relative to a sharpening tool in response to signals indicating changes of one or more variable parameters which are indicative of the need for a sharpening of the knife or knives. Such parameters include at least the magnitude of torque which is required to rotate the knife holder but often also the temperature of the mass of condensed tobacco being fed into the range of the knife or knives, the quantity of tobacco per unit length of the mass, the mosture content of tobacco in the mass, the presence and/or the size and/or the nature of foreign matter in the mass, and others.

Abstract: A window for installation in a roof includes a window frame with frame pieces and mounting brackets. Each bracket includes an angular bracket member with first and second legs connected integrally with each other, and a substantially plate-shaped base member having an opening for receiving fasteners and is connected with the outer side wall of the frame piece. The angular bracket member is connected with the base member such that, in a transportation position of the window, the second leg of the angular bracket member protrudes inwards in relation to the base member, and, in an installation position, the second leg protrudes outwards. Locking mechanism locks the first leg relative to the base member in the installation position, and adjusting mechanism adjusts the position of the angular bracket member in at least a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the frame piece of the window frame.

Abstract: A continuous process for reusing scrap polyurethane involves the following stages: Chips of thermoset polyurethane foam are supported as a bed; the bed of chips while moving is heated; the bed of chips while moving is subjected to pressure or compression; and a web is formed. The resulting material is useful in many industrial applications, including padding, gaskets, and insulation.

Abstract: A nut includes an extended flange and a center hole. A shoulder is formed onto the edge of the center hole to achieve an easier and faster assembly. The shoulder has an essentially tubular shape and is provided with a thread on its inside wall.

Abstract: A cigarette packing machine has a first drive normally transmitting motion to packing units which are employed to advance a series of arrays of cigarettes or other rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry and to confine each array in a discrete packet by providing each of successive arrays of the series with one or more envelopes, labels and the like. The first drive is decelerated and brought to a halt in the event of malfunctioning of one or more packing units of the machine and/or for other reasons, and this initiates or prevents an interruption of operation of at least one second drive which transmits motion to one or more packing units during deceleration and/or during a period following stoppage of the first drive. The second drive(s) causes or cause the respective packing unit(s) to complete operations which, if not carried out prior to restarting of the first drive, would entail the making of numerous defective packets.

Abstract: An electrode arrangement is provided having an electrode line which has a closed casing for sealing off its interior relative to the surrounding area. At its distal end, electrically conducting surface regions serve as electrodes. A fixing mechanism anchors the distal end in a body tissue, in particular heart tissue and is adapted to be separable from the rest of the electrode line in such a way that the rest of the electrode line is also closed at its distal end when the fixing mechanism is separated off. The interior of the electrode line is sealed off relative to the surrounding area even when the fixing element is separated off. The electrode arrangement is characterized by a mechanism for separating off the fixing mechanism, which is adapted to effect separation by virtue of forces acting axially within the electrode line.

Abstract: A screening arrangement for installation in a curb for a skylight in a roof structure comprises four rails for mounting on an internal surface of the curb to form a frame in the curb. The rails comprise at least one supporting rail associated with a collapsible screen of which a first end is fixed in relation to said rail and a second end is free. Four corner brackets are provided for mounting at respective corners of the curb, each said bracket having an abutment surface for abutment on the top edge of the curb and a support member for supporting two of said rails.

Abstract: Successive collapsed cardboard blanks which can be erected to accommodate, for example, arrays of cigarette cartons are supplied from a source (such as a magazine for one or more piles of superimposed randomly distributed properly oriented and misoriented blanks) to a packing machine along a path wherein the orientations of successive blanks are monitored and the misoriented blanks are reoriented so that the packing machine receives blanks each of which is in an optimum orientation for erection and subsequent reception of arrays of commodities. The arrangement for monitoring and, if necessary, correcting the orientation of successive blanks can include pneumatic and/or other conveyors, mobile props, mobile pushers, an upright chute and a vertically movable supporting platform for stacks of monitored and (if necessary) reoriented blanks.

Abstract: An injection device (1) has a slide (3) which can be displaced in relation to a housing (2) from a retracted position to an injection position, and which comprises a portion (8) situated within the housing (2) and a portion (6) situated outside the housing, both portions (6, 8) being interconnected through a groove (10) in the housing (2). The portion (6) situated outside the housing (2) has a syringe holder (5) for securing a hypodermic syringe (4), and the slide (3) is pretensioned toward the injection position. The housing (2) at the groove (10) is constituted by a tube part, the outer and/or inner surface (7, 9) of which forms a guide for the slide (3), and the slide (3) has one or more contact faces which are in contact with the guide at least at three areas distributed over more than the half of the circumference of the tube part.

Abstract: A method of transporting rod-shaped tobacco smoke filters, which carry solid particles, along an elongated path from a sender to a receiving station, includes transporting the filters from the sender to the receiving station through the predetermined portion of the path. A plurality of jets of a pressurized gaseous fluid is directed across a predetermined portion of the path to expel from the portion of the path solid particles which are separated or separable from the filters. The expelled particles are collected in a chamber outwardly adjacent the predetermined portion of the path. The collected particles are evacuated from the chamber.

Abstract: A golf ball cleaning device includes opposing panels joined by a hinge. The panels have a layer of a waterproof material defining an edge, a layer of a water absorbent material defining a perimeter and being affixed to the waterproof material of at least one of the panels, and a margin of waterproof material extending between the perimeter of the layer of water absorbent material and the edge of the layer of the waterproof material to which the water absorbent material is affixed. The golf ball cleaning device has a closed position in which the opposing panels contact one another, with the water absorbent material positioned between the layers of waterproof material. The margin of waterproof material prevents moisture in the water absorbent material from wicking out of the golf ball cleaning device.

Abstract: A shower of tobacco particles is admitted into the inlet at the top of and descends by gravity and/or under the action of a driven cell wheel in a generally upright duct. The particles are moisturized prior to admission into the duct or due to contact with droplets of water in the inlet, and are thereupon caused to traverse an orbiting shower of steam, water and/or another conditioning medium in an intermediate portion of their path in the duct. Such treatment entails a swelling and thus increases the volume of the particles. The conditioning medium is discharged via orifices radially outwardly from at least one substantially horizontal conduit which is rotated about its axis and can be provided with external pins or analogous mechanical impellers serving to cause the particles of tobacco to orbit about the conduit prior to descending into the range of a dryer at a level below the intermediate portion of the path, e.g., at the outlet of the duct.

Abstract: The panel system is meant for construction of a panel fillet or a major panel surface to be mounted in a pitched roof or in a facade, comprising a number of fixed panels (1) together with a number of openable panels (2), each panel comprising a frame structure composed of frame members (13, 22) bordering a panelling element (32) between them, each frame member (13, 22) comprising a profile element (30) and at least a core element (35). The profile elements (30) are designed as uniform standard parts, and in that at least some frame members of the frame structure are provided with means to vary the moment of inertia, where the means can comprise at least one element (47) which is received in said core element (35) and which extend over essentially the entire length of the frame member.
