Abstract: An improved latch for spring wire supported articles of jewelry in which a wire loop is pivoted about an axis perpendicular to that of the spring wire for movement through substantially 180 degrees and engages a free end of the spring wire at substantially 90 degrees so that accidental snagging of said free end of said spring wire will not result in disengagement of the latch.
Abstract: A vacuum device for removing a lodged mass or bolus from the throat of a choking victim. The device includes a pump for creating a vacuum chamber communicating with a mouthpiece having a frangible membrane. A resilient striker fractures the membrane to generate a substantially instantaneous vacuum to the mouthpiece to dislodge the mass. In one embodiment, the membrane is substituted by a manually displaceable sealing member, which is resealed after use of the device by movement of a vacuum-generating plunger.
Abstract: The Illuminating Pouring Spout is a new and improved pouring spout for use and attachment on an open end of a liquid container. The pouring spout bears elastically against the inner wall of the liquid container to hold it in place. The pouring spout contains a power source and a light source in a chamber within the pouring spout. The power source and light source are connected in such a way that when the liquid container is moved, grasped or inverted for pouring the Illuminating Pouring Spout is engaged until it is released or still. The light source may be aimed down into the liquid container and/or aimed outward from the dispensing end of the pouring spout. When engaged, the Illuminating Pouring Spout's visual effects are pleasing to the eyes of nearby observers and are useful for advertising and attracting business.
Abstract: A fluid dispensing device for applying fluids which dry and harden with exposure to ambient air, typically glues and the like. The device includes a sponge applicator. A flexible container element has a first thread for engaging a dispensing element, including the applicator. A neck portion of the container element includes a second thread on an outer surface thereof for selective engagement with a cap-like cover which encloses the sponge and prevents drying of the same during periods in which the device is not in use. The sponge includes an axially-aligned passage interconnecting directly with the neck portion, so that the squeezing of the container element transfers the dispensed fluid directly to an outer surface of the sponge for application to a treated surface.
Abstract: The Automatic Base-Mounted Container Illuminator is a new and improved illumination device for use and attachment on the base of a liquid container. The Illuminator attaches to the container due to a high level of friction between the outer surface of the container and the outer surface of the Illuminator's liquid-proof coating. The Illuminator contains a power source and a light source. The power source and light source are connected by an electrical switch mechanism so that when the liquid container and attached Illuminator are lifted from a standing position the circuit is completed until the container is placed back onto its base in a standing position. When the Illuminator is engaged the liquid and the bottle itself become illuminated. This effect is useful for advertising and attracting business, and it is pleasing to the eyes of nearby observers. Thus, the Illuminator can be simultaneously used as an advertising agent and a visual stimulant.
Abstract: A futon mattress cover having a partially elastic periphery eliminating the need of slide fasteners. The cover is preferably formed from elastomeric material to assure a snug fit.
Abstract: A method of mounting precious stones in an article of jewelry, typically an earring, which includes the steps of punching a recess in the article of jewelry which is hollow, positioning the stone in the recess, and heading over the edge of the recess to retain the stone.
Abstract: A white cream bacteriostat and fungicide capable of serving as a vehicle for additional medicaments. Also disclosed is a method for blending the ingredients, some of which are not readily compatible with each other.
Abstract: A collapsible shipping container for lightweight materials, typically edible grain particles and flakes, including a box-like sealable container and a synthetic resinous lining element, all of which are disposable after a single usage. The containers are fully preassembled in collapsed condition for storage, and require only unfolding to erected condition prior to insertion of the liner, the filling of the liner with contents, the sealing of the liner, and the closing of the container with a lid or cover.
Abstract: A chafing or warming dish construction typically used for buffet serving of comestibles having user sensing means which automatically opens and closes an overlying cover depending upon the presence of the user at a serving table. In a disclosed embodiment, the cover is arranged for pivotal rotation about a pair of aligned pintles. The cover is progressively counterbalanced to maintain it in any desired degree of rotation, usually ninety or one hundred eighty degrees. Also disclosed is a counter balance means which applies progressive counter balancing force as the cover is opened which force is canceled when the said cover reaches a completely opened position.
Abstract: A lubricant for wiper blades used to remove residual toner particles from a photoconductive surface comprising a finely divided fluoropolymer and a binder resin typically polyvinylpyrollidinone, applied as a coating using an evaporable vehicle.
Abstract: A fibrous collapsible shipping container for transporting small articles and particulate material and discharging the same under gravity through a bottom wall opening after the horizontal movement of a sliding door. The container may include a liner element to provide increased rigidity where the loaded contents are relatively heavy. In a second embodiment, the container includes a second medially positioned bottom wall and sliding door to provide incremental discharge of the contents, as desired.
Abstract: A carousel type display including a spring powered music box in which a horizontal rotating wheel-like element has selectively engageable recesses from which a plurality of display units are selectively suspended. The display units may include small picture frames, as well as comparably sized three dimensional ornaments which are provided with upwardly-extending pendants, spherically shaped terminals which allow rotation about a vertically oriented axis.
Abstract: A wire-type bottle holder including provision for attachment to a golf club bag or belt loop of a user. The holder comprises a single length of wire with at least the bottle-engaging part thereof coated with a layer of synthetic resinous material with the remaining portion enclosed within a synthetic resinous tube. The free ends of the wire are bent to form a loop which retains an attachment means.
Abstract: A plunger for caulking cartridges, including structure for venting entrapped air between the surface of the caulking composition and the inner surface of the plunger after installation, thereby avoiding the possibility of premature solidification and providing positive plunger action.
