Abstract: A device for storing and serially dispensing cards, typically those impregnated with a perfumed scent for sampling by a perspective customer. The device stores a number of cards arranged in a substantially vertical stack. The cards are moved to a dispensing point by a spring loaded carriage into a dispensing mechanism which serially removes a leading card from the stack, changes its position to horizontal and ejects it through an opening in the front of the device as a lever is manually depressed.
Abstract: A frangible tear strip for toner cartridges used in electro-photographic copying devices, in which bursting strength is increased without making it more difficult for the user to longitudinally tear the strip to create an opening for passage of toner prior to use. This is accomplished by providing multiple areas of transverse reinforcement of the strip either by increased local area fusing of the material, or the lamination of transversely extending reinforcements at spaced intervals. In a preferred embodiment, the reenforcing material extends the entire axial length of the seal. In a further embodiment, the reinforcing material includes a layer of foam material having a rectangular opening overlapping a corresponding opening in a toner cartridge.
Abstract: An arch support (1) for a sports shoe, in particular a mountaineering or hiking boot, having an anatomically shaped body (2) made of plastic material, and a reinforcing insert (3) embedded in the body (2); the insert (3) has a longitudinally ribbed structure, a main portion (10) extending along the sole of the foot and wide enough to impart a high degree of torsional rigidity to the arch support, and a narrow front appendix (11) extending from the main portion (10) and connected to the main portion substantially at the metatarsus.
Abstract: A cuff link including interconnected outer and inner elements, in which said outer element is in the form of a shank button which is maintained in interchangeable interconnection with said inner element by a manually operable clasp permanently attached to the inner element.
Abstract: A flexible conductive coating for application to an elastomeric charging blade pressed against the developer roller in an electrostatic printing apparatus to improve the contact of the particulate toner with the developer roller. The coating serves to improve the uniformity in the charge distribution of the different sized toner particles in the toner, to improve the repeatability of image density and decrease ghosting caused by the developer roller. The coating formulation comprises an aqueous or solvent based elastomeric material containing a conductive material disposed in its body to create conductivity. The coating may be directly applied to the operative surface of the charging blade, incorporated into the body of the blade during manufacture, or applied to the operative surface of the blade using an adhesive strip.
Abstract: A threaded type tamper-indicating closure in which the tamper-indicating ring is separated from the cap element of the closure as the closure is opened, the tamper-indicating ring includes an upper wall member of relatively reduced thickness to enable both bending and flexing radially outwardly during installation to enable relatively rigid tabs to clear a radially outwardly extending bead on the container neck or finish. The tabs extend radially inwardly from an upper edge of a relatively thicker lower wall member of the tamper-indicating ring, and do not substantially bend or flex relative to the lower wall member during either installation or removal.
Abstract: An improved method of molding a container finish for containers containing liquid at or above atmospheric pressures in which the frusto-conical sealing area thereof is formed in substantially unflawed condition. To accomplish this, the mold for the container includes the usual upper and lower members which move axially when the mold is opened, which members mate with a pair of side members which move laterally when the mold is opened. However, as contrasted with prior art molds of this type, the upper mold member is provided with an axially oriented cavity which encloses that portion of the neck finish which includes the sealing surface to a degree wherein the laterally extending parting line at the upper end of the side members is positioned below the lower edge of the frusto-conical sealing surface thus eliminating the presence of either axially oriented or transversely oriented parting lines on the sealing surface itself.
Abstract: A threaded type tamper-indicating closure in which the tamper-indicating ring is separated from the cap element of the closure as the closure is opened, in which the tabs which contact an undersurface of a bead on the outer surface of an engaged container finish are prevented from flexing radially inwardly beyond a limited degree so as to assure that the tabs will function immediately as the closure commences unthreading. In some of the disclosed embodiments, this is accomplished by positioned the pivot axis of the tabs either radially inwardly of the inner edge of the tabs when they are in relatively unstressed condition, or in a common vertical plane therewith, so that the tabs pivot radially outwardly as they come into contact with the bead. In other embodiments, the tabs are of sufficient axial length that they contact the outer surface of the container finish before substantial pivoting occurs.
Abstract: A method of using a topically applied skin sensitizer dispersed in a manually applied vehicle which substantially increases tissue sensation. The principal ingredient is benzalkonium chloride in a water soluble gel which includes sorbitol, glycerin, hydroxethylcellulose and propylene glycol.
Abstract: A device for lining container closures in which a punch cuts undivided lining pieces from a strip of web material and pushes the piece through a die to seat the same within an individual closure. The closures are advanced by a pocket wheel having two oppositely disposed pockets driven through 180 degree increments in alternate directions to discharge lined closures from either side of the pocket wheel enclosure. The pocket wheel is driven by a rotary actuator which may be electrically, pneumatically, or hydraulically powered.
Abstract: A mounting device for use in conjunction with grooved wallboard to mount implement-holding devices, which, in turn, support tools and implements. When installed, the device is in spaced parallel relation to the outer surface of the wallboard to allow mounting of a holding device for a stored implement.
Abstract: A threaded closure for use with containers for liquid contents of a type including a severable tamper-indicating ring in which provision is incorporated to facilitate removal of the closure from an injection mold while minimizing the possibility of damage to parts of relatively thin cross section.
Abstract: A multiple piece toy in which each piece includes a base having an interconnectable peripheral edge which selectively mates with the peripheral edges of other pieces to enable multiple relationships therebetween. Extending upwardly from each piece is a figurine of animal-like character. Selective interconnection of the pieces forms an infinite variety of groupings of the pieces for play and display.
Abstract: A module for a construction system is disclosed which can be used to form building panels and three-dimensional structures that may include self-supporting cladding. In one form the basic module (10, FIG. 1A, drawing ?e!) is formed from two pleated hexagonal plates (11a and 14a) joined together at their peripheries with their concave sides together and with the ridges on one opposite the valleys of the other. Each plate is formed from a blank (11 and 14, respectively) which is a hexagon distorted by extending the radii which will form the valleys of the plate with respect to the radii of a regular hexagon (drawings ?a! and ?b!).
Abstract: A topically applied aphrodisiac dispersed in a manually applied vehicle which substantially increases tissue sensation. The principal ingredient is benzalkonium chloride in a water soluble gel which includes sorbitol, glycerin, hydroxethylcellulose and propylene glycol.
Abstract: A portable electrically powered broiler including a base element connected to a source of power, and a lid element having a heating source which electrically communicates with the base element when the lid element is in position upon the base element. The base element includes selectively removable grill and pan members. In an alternate embodiment, the lid element is at least partially formed from electrically resistive tempered glass to form the heating source.
Abstract: An improved delivery track construction for use with known coolers and dispensing devices for bottled beverages. The construction includes a series of inclined tracks having first and second adjacent terminal ends, the tracks having a one-hundred eighty degree loop between the ends. The track permits the introduction of replacement stock at an upper end for feeding under gravity to a lower end, and assures that bottles are dispensed on a first in, first out basis.
