Abstract: A wind-powered turbine has a housing with an inlet and an outlet. Located in the housing is a cylindrical stator array having a plurality of spaced-apart stators located in it. An annular cylindrical rotor array having a plurality of cups rotates about a central axis, fits inside of the stator array. The stators are positioned to cause air which flows around the outer periphery of the stator array to impinge on the rotors and an air handling system causes air entering the housing to be distributed substantially around the periphery of the stator array.
Abstract: A disposable folding type sanitary toilet for pets includes a folding type receiving unit configured in the form of a box having a receiving space. A wall of the box is configured to fold such that the volume of the receiving unit is adjusted, thereby allowing the sanitary toilet to be easily stored and carried. The sanitary toilet further includes a case unit for containing the bottom of the receiving unit and protecting the bottom, top, and sides of the receiving unit. The receiving unit includes a top plate, a wall unit connected to the top plate, the wall unit having horizontal folds formed at its exterior for adjusting the vertical height of the wall unit, and a lower receiving part coupled to the bottom of the wall unit and having a receiving space. An attached filter may be deployed during closure to inhibit discharge of dust and/or microbial contaminants.
Abstract: An upscaling (upsampling) technique for digital images and video for presentation on a display. An image at a first resolution may be separated into a plurality of channels. Each channel may be upsampled to a higher resolution. The plurality of channels may then be combined to form an image at the higher resolution.

Abstract: A method of producing a fluxing agent that can be used in production of steel, preferably stainless steel, employs as a raw material a hydroxide sludge that results from neutralization of metal-contaminated pickling liquid from a pickling step for a steel and contains at least one fluoride-containing compound. The hydroxide sludge is calcined. Steel, preferably stainless steel, is produced by decarburizing a steel heat, whereby a slag is formed on top of the steel heat, and adding a fluxing agent to the slag.

Abstract: Apparatus for refilling and subsequently sealing an ink jet cartridge. The apparatus including a body with a pointed distal end which can be pushed through a tape covering the fill hole for the cartridge. A recess is provided in the proximal end of the apparatus for connection to a syringe or a feed pipe. A passage connects with the recess and also a radial passage adjacent the distal end of the apparatus. A resilient sleeve locates in a circumferential recess extending around the apparatus and covering the end of the passage in a rest condition to provide a one way valve.
Abstract: Applicators for fluids such as paints utilizing a roller are known and more recently utilization of an incrementally displaceable piston in order to force fluid flow to a roller has been disclosed. In order to ensure appropriate presentation of the fluid, that is to say paint, to the roller an appropriate gap between the roller and the housing is required. By position of a cam and/or flap control of a housing to roller gap is achieved.
Abstract: A method for mapping/enhancing the color of an image to be displayed on a display includes receiving an image having a plurality of pixels where each of the pixels has a plurality of color components. The image is processed using a pair of gamut color mapping operations in combination with skin-tone pixels detection to modify the image in a suitable manner for presentation on the display, wherein the technique includes color temperature compensation.
Abstract: An orthodontic bracket having a base attachable to a tooth surface, with the base extending outward away from the tooth surface and forming an archwire slot sized to receive an archwire therewithin, and a removable archwire slot cover coined onto the base so as to cover the archwire slot and enable the bracket to function as a buccal tube when the cover is attached. The cover may be removed from the bracket base without removal of the bracket from the tooth surface so as to provide an open archwire slot for continued orthodontic treatment subsequent to removal of the removable archwire slot cover.

Abstract: A cage allows fish to be moved under water in a river from a hatchery to a location at or near the river's mouth. The cage side walls contain openings which allow water to pass through the cage as it is towed downstream but prevent the fish from swimming out of the cage. A first flotation device supports the cage submerged where it is filled with fish and then towed downstream to where the fish are released. A second flotation device has passageways which allow filling it with either air or water. When filled with water it has no buoyancy effect on the cage. However, when filled with air the second flotation device raises the cage to where its bottom is at or near the water surface and it can be towed upstream with reduced drag.
Abstract: A paper-processing apparatus is provided with a paper-transferring section containing a transfer path for transferring a sheet of paper to a prescribed position and a transfer path to which the transfer route is switchable from the transfer path, a punch-processing section for punching two or more holes for binding in one end of the sheet of paper transferred thereto, and a control section for controlling the paper-transferring section and the punch-processing section wherein the control section controls the paper-transferring section to decelerate and stop the transfer of the sheet of paper at the prescribed position of the transfer path, to switch the transfer route for the sheet of paper from the transfer path to the transfer path, and to deliver the sheet of paper in a reverse direction thereof. The sheet of paper can be transferred to the punch-processing section with the sheet-shaped figure of the sheet of paper kept as it is, and the holes for binding can be punched at one end of the sheet of paper.
Abstract: The invention relates to a camshaft assembly comprising an inner shaft, an outer tube rotatable relative to the inner shaft, and two groups of cams mounted on the outer tube, the first group of cams being fast in rotation with the outer tube, and the second group being rotatably mounted on the outer surface of the tube and being connected for rotation with the inner shaft by means of connecting members that pass through circumferentially elongated slots in the outer tube. In the invention, the outer tube surrounds the inner shaft with clearance and the members connecting different ones of the cams of the second group to the inner shaft are inclined relative to one another and act to locate the axis of the inner shaft relative to the outer tube.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a preheating arrangement in a fuel cell apparatus, the fuel cell apparatus comprising at least a fuel cell unit having an anode side and a cathode side with an electrolyte therebetween, the fuel cell apparatus having at least a fuel inlet to the anode side and an oxygen-containing air inlet to the cathode side as well as a sulphur removal unit and a fuel modifying unit and an afterburner for combustion the exhaust gases from the anode and/or cathode side. According to the invention, the afterburner is provided with a separate fuel inlet channel for introducing fuel to the afterburner during the start-up phase of the fuel cell apparatus and that at least a part of the exhaust gases formed in the combustion of the separately fed fuel is arranged to be directed from the afterburner for heating at least the sulphur removal unit and/or the fuel modifying unit during the start-up phase.
