Abstract: Waste fabric and lint generated by the cutter knives of a sewing machine are removed as generated by a collection box, the top edges of which are shaped to conform to the contour of a sewing machine frame in a location immediately beneath the cutter knives. The collection box is connected to a source of suction in a waste removal system.

Abstract: A contoured pin extends from a correspondingly shaped opening in the wall of a hanger bearing in registry with a space in the hanger to engage the hanger and prevent undesirable rotation of the bearing by the rotatable shaft journaled in the bearing. The contour of the pin and the shape of the opening locks the pin in the bearing when mounted about a shaft.

Abstract: A trimmer head for supporting replaceable flexible cutting elements used in trimming grass and weeds is equipped with several arbors to facilitate operative attachment to existing power tools. A head is positioned on the chuck of a selected arbor and includes grooves and abutments to receive and frictionally engage the medial portions of the flexible cutters, whose feed ends extend radially beyond the head. A circular shield is threaded on the arbor and tightened against the head. The circular shield includes a clamping plate which engages and clamps the medial portions of the flexible cutters against the head in use.

Abstract: According to the invention, a balloon ring is supported in concentric position about each spindle on a spinning frame by a bracket supported by a mounting rod that is in turn supported on the free ends of air cylinders mounted beside and correspondingly movable with the ring rail. The pistons in the air cylinders are initially extended to support the balloon rings at a first position. That position has been determined to be in an optimum area for control of the yarn balloon during movement of the ring rail through the lower portion of its traversing motion to build the bottom half of the package. As the rail ring begins to move through the upper portion of its traversing movements and the balloon rings approach the yarn transfer guides, a limit or proximity switch is activated to retract the pistons of the air cylinders and uniformly lower the balloon rings to a second or retracted position closer to the ring rail, and positioned to control the balloon while the upper half of the package continues to build.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for handling carbon dioxide and excluding it from contact with the atmosphere while carbonating and storage, transfer, and dispensing of the carbonated beverage. The apparatus includes one or two vessels and a valve assembly for each vessel. Each valve assembly has a pressure relief valve and an outlet tap, which are normally closed to isolate the interior of the vessel from the atmosphere, and a pump for transferring and dispensing air and liquid from or to its vessel, all without bringing the carbon dioxide in contact with the atmosphere.

Abstract: This box type turkey call features a laterally moved actuator contacting the sides of a box. The actuator is mounted on a rotatable mounting. Attachment is eccentric on the mount. The mount, on the opposite surface, is slotted to accept a tool to affect movement of the attachment as the mount is rotated. This movement of the point of attachment enables this box call to produce a variety of different calls, each of which may be finely tuned, and to compensate for wear.

Abstract: A method for restoring a large area of deteriorated plaster wherein several layers of joint compound are applied to the cleaned out work area. A screen is applied with the first layer and the second layer and the second layer has a sufficient layer removed while wet to be made flush with the original plaster surface.

Abstract: A spindle nut remains attached to a dye spindle for repeated dye operations and includes radially projecting cam surfaces for successively guiding and locking a lock ring against outward movement relative to the spindle nut at the beginning of successive dye operations. A pressure plate engages the outermost yarn package on the dye spindle and a tube is fixed to the pressure plate and extends outwardly about the spindle toward the lock ring at the beginning of each dye operation, terminating in spaced relation from the lock ring. The pressure obtained during each successive dye operation moves the pressure plate outwardly until the tube engages the lock ring to hold the yarn packages on the spindle during dyeing.

Abstract: A turkey caller comprising a body portion with a removable mouthpiece connected in an airtight manner to one end and a trumpet reciprocably mounted on the other end of the body portion. A plurality of axially aligned passageways extend through the mouthpiece, body portion, and trumpet with the passageway in the trumpet being the largest in diameter and the other passageways being successively smaller as they extend in communication with each other through the trumpet, body portion, and mouthpiece. Air is sucked into the trumpet to produce sounds simulating wild game, such as turkeys.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for protecting a portion of hair from hair treatment chemicals. The apparatus comprises a protective socket and a core receivable within the socket. The method comprises wrapping the portion of hair to be protected on the core and placing the core with the protected portion of hair within the socket and with the unprotected portion of hair extending outwardly from the socket. A conditioner is applied to the hair at the socket to prevent entry of the hair treatment chemicals into the socket.

Abstract: A dock shelter fabric comprising a core fabric formed from synthetic fibers, a base coat of polymeric material extending continuously over at least the one surface of the core fabric intended to be exposed to abrasion, and a second polymeric coating of abrasion resistant polymeric material fused in a discontinuous pattern to the continuous surface of the base coat; whereby the discontinuous coating resists abrasion without sacrificing flexibility of the fabric.

Abstract: A flame retardant, water-proof fabric useful for tenting, tarpaulins and protective clothing comprises a woven substrate formed from synthetic fibers intimately coated with a homegeneous composition of binders, flame retardants and plasticizers. The composition includes a blocked polyester/polyether urethane prepolymer which, when cured at a temperature sufficient to unblock the urethane, provides strong film integrity to bond the coating to the substrate and thereby increase the effective life of the product.

Abstract: A mileage recording and service reminding accessory for a shared-use vehicle is provided as a self-contained unit which may be installed as original equipment at the time of manufacture or added as a modification accessory to an existing vehicle. The console includes auxiliary individual odometers or hour meters for different persons authorized to use the vehicle, a master meter within the console, an electric circuit operable to selectively connect a desired auxiliary odometer or hour meter to the master meter, and a service warning meter for registering and displaying pre-selected target mileages for prescribed service. The console also includes a key actuated switch for each of said individual odometers or hour meters. Actuation of each switch activates the ignition and contemporaneously activates only its respective odometer or hour meter to record the vehicle usage for the then current user independently of the usage recorded for the other users.
