  • Patent number: 5803393
Abstract: A turntable has a drive for rotating it. A vertical control rod extending up alongside the turntable carries a dancer arm adjustably mounted thereon. The strip coming off the supply coil trains over the spool. A variable electrical control is adjacent the control rod and influenced by its rotary position. The control relates the speed of the turntable to whether the arm is inward or outward--whether there is greater or less demand for the strip. In the preferred version, a bias for the control rod urges the dancer arm outward in dampened fashion but more readily permits the arm to be drawn inward.

  • Patent number: 5795475
Abstract: Coupler/diverter has housing with an aerator at the bottom and an inner barrel having rotary valving stem serving to distribute supply water, brine and overflow from RO filter. Depending on the setting, the stem permits flow through the housing to issue in the usual aerated stream. At this setting it also shuts off all other flow for decoupling. In diverting setting it sends supply to filter, shuttles return brine flush to the outside of the housing and lets reservoir overflow pass through the aerator. In a working setting the stem also can control volume of brine return to a varying degree to optimize the operation of the RO filter.

  • Patent number: 5771614
Abstract: A floral assembly, which may be included in a card, is made of absorbent paper in the shape of a flower having an upper end flared as a bloom-shaped seed pocket and the lower end is a stem-shaped support. The pocket contains seeds for germination and may be easily opened to free them for growth. When the stem is immersed in water, it serves as a wick to moisten the upper part of the assembly and helps start the seeds germinating.

  • Patent number: 5743291
Abstract: The invention relates to a sanitary safety device which is interposed in a water-supply line and there is insertable in an opening in the region of a coupling point or joint. It is characteristic of the sanitary safety device according to the invention that the sanitary safety device has a flow regulator (2) or similar restrictor as well as a backflow preventer (3), these being combined in the sanitary safety device to compose a constructional unit in the form of a cartridge (1). Such is insertable for example, in the opening of a recess in the form of a cartridge mount provided in a hose connector. The cartridge (1) composed of the flow regulator (2), backflow preventer (3) and any strainer attachment (8) at the inflow end can thus be interposed in a water-supply line in a simple fashion and with little effort.

  • Patent number: 5736201
Abstract: The process involves rotating the person on a first rotatable support and scanning the rotating head with respect to both topography and color. The scanning output is digitized and fed to a computer with custom software. On a second rotatable support are forming means driven by the computer and used to fashion a partly finished doll's head based on the topography input. The partly finished head is then transferred to a third rotatable support and as it rotates, ink jets also driven by the computer software, colors the doll's head correspondingly.

  • Patent number: 5733211
Abstract: Vertically-moving frame operates in a slot at the net line of a table tennis table. The top of the frame preferably carries the net. When the frame is down, the net is in the usual playing position. When the time is up, the frame is raised, forming a barrier to further play.

  • Patent number: 5732526
Abstract: The process includes the steps of removing a circle of ceiling sheet and cylinder of insulation material to create a work space under a portion of one of the I-beam-like roof bows and maneuvering in the space a U-shaped clamp having inward ribs at the upper end of its legs to straddle and hook over the bottom flange of the bow. A threaded rod extending through a threaded bore in the bight of the clamp is tightened to fix the clamp to the bow. A bearing nut with a wide plate is then screwed onto the lower end of the rod so that the plate engages and supports the sheet. Insulation is then injected into the space.

  • Patent number: 5643521
Abstract: A fitting (1) designed for example as a non-return valve (2) has an outer housing (3) having an inner lip seal (7) interacting with a closing element (5), and also an outer annular seal (8). Both the outer housing (3) and the seals (7, 8) are designed as injection moldings. The production of the outer housing with the seals takes place in an injection molding process in which, first of all, the outer housing and, in a second operation, the seals are injection molded appropriate, more than two operations, in particular in the case of more than two injection molding material components, can also be provided. By means of the injection molded seals, the latter are durably and closely bonded to the outer housing (3) resulting in simplifications regarding production technology and design (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 5636427
Abstract: Closer comprises a cylindrical housing defined by a front end and a rear end, the housing being formed with an axial bore having an enlargement in the front end. An air-driven cylinder is fixedly mounted in the bore and has an axial drive shaft reciprocable therein extending toward the front end and terminating in an impact head normally in an inward position. Reciprocably disposed in the enlargement is an annular trigger loosely surrounding the impact head and normally in an outward position extending down beyond the front end of the housing and movable to an inward position when the housing is lightly depressed over the fastener. An actuator in the housing is moved by the trigger as it approaches its inward position to activate the cylinder and slam the impact head downward to close the fastener. In a modification the cylinder is replaced by a solenoid.

  • Patent number: 5605257
Abstract: Dispenser has a nozzle with a tip seal valve and an internal check valve defining a discharge chamber between them. The tip seal valve actuator extends along the squeeze bottle side so that it can be actuated at the same time as the bottle is squeezed. Because of the check valve, there is no "suck back" as bottle is released. A bottle vent permits air in, but does not allow liquid to escape.

  • Patent number: 5599124
Abstract: A lipstick comprising a cartridge and a base wherein the base is formed with upward latches which snap barb fashion over an annular shoulder in the lower end of the inner of the cartridge. The pomade cup has a downward projection to hold the latches outward. Specifically, the cup has a downward "stovepipe" which, when the cup is retracted, fits inside the latches to prevent them from springing inward on impact and releasing the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5577799
Abstract: A foldable tubular rocking chair frame comprises an elongate generally open rectangular back unit having parallel long side elements and parallel upper and lower end elements, the long sides being interrupted by selectively foldable aligned hinges. The hinges include knuckle elements which permit 180.degree. folding, and folding in one direction only. The hinges, when the chair is erected, include a supporting sleeve which circumposes the interruption and prevents folding.

  • Patent number: 5577395
Abstract: A one-piece plastic clip comprises a base plate and a cover plate with a living hinge inbetween. In pre-assembly the plates are held widely open by a temporary unitary strut. The bracelet strap is attached to the base plate by having apertures formed in the strap receive bushings in the base plate which are then flared outwardly to "rivet" the parts together. The struts are then sheared away, and the cover plate is freely hinged. In the final assembly the strap encircles the patient's wrist and the cover plate is brought down over the base plate, pointed projections on the cover plate piercing the free end of the strap and entering the bushings, and staggered ribs augmenting the gripping. The cover plate is then latched closed against the base plate.
