Abstract: A method for manufacturing a gelatinous elastomer article comprising a series of steps. The steps include selecting a plasticizer, selecting a triblock copolymer of the general configuration A-B-A, mixing the plasticizer and triblock copolymer such as by melt blending or use of a compounding screw in order to produce a gelatinous elastomer, permitting the gelatinous elastomer to cool, selecting a forming device such as a die or mold, melting the gelatinous elastorner, and forcing the gelatinous elastomer into the forming device in order to form a gelatinous elastomer part.
Abstract: A method of rough shaping a prosthetic joint component that includes a generally spherical polycrystalline diamond compact by electric discharge machining is disclosed. The discharge machining electrode roughens a polycrystalline diamond compact sphere while the electrode and the sphere are rotating about different axes. By controlling the amount of discharge current, the depth and amount of the heat affected zone can be minimized. In the case of a polycrystalline diamond compact, the heat affected zone can be kept to about 3 to 5 microns in depth and is easily removable by grinding and polishing.

Abstract: A fiber tipped dental substance applicator that is insertable into a bore of an exit orifice of a syringe. The applicator may include one or more fluid passageways through which a dental substance may flow from the syringe to fibers at the end of the applicator. The tip may include a flocked smoothing bulb.
Abstract: A grout slurry pumping system, and a grout slurry control box and associated tools are described. Methods of using the pumping system and control box are also described. The pumping system and control box may be used separately or together. The pumping system maintains a grout slurry of desired consistency and can provide it through a hose to remote locations. The control box operates to apply grout to a work surface in desired quantities and in desired amounts according to a control valve.
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for curing polymeric materials including dental composites. Preferably, modulated light is used to control the formation of polymer chains in the polymeric material so that a cured polymeric material that has the desired physical characteristics for its intended function is formed. Formation of short chain and long chain polymers from monomers in the polymeric material is initiated and controlled by using a light source with a wavelength suitable for one or more initiators found in the polymeric material.

Abstract: A method for bleaching teeth is disclosed. The method includes the formation of a dental bleaching tray in a one step process that includes placing a moldable material adjacent teeth, permitting the moldable material to cure, and removing the cured moldable material which will then serve as a dental bleaching tray. Dental bleach may be placed into the dental bleaching tray and the tray may be placed onto teeth to accomplish bleaching. The entirety of the process may be performed at a patient's home or at a dental office, as desired.
Abstract: A curing light system useful for curing light activated composite materials is disclosed. The system may be a hand-held portable curing light system operated by batteries or a chair side curing light system operated by AC power. The curing light system includes a light source which may be one or more light emitting diode chips or one or more diode laser chips. The chips of the light source are located on a single heat sink for heat dissipation. The heat sink and chips are located in an encasement that may include a focus dome or transparent window through which light travels to reach light activated composite materials. In the preferred embodiment, the light travels from the light source directly to a curing surface without first going through a light guide or fiber optic cable. The light source is preferably located in a handle that is manipulated by a user in order to direct light emitted by the light source to composite materials to be cured.

Abstract: A reconfigurable hardware interface for driving simulators that uses a field programmable gate array for interfacing with driving controls and instruments. The field programmable gate array is interposed between the input/output of the computer system of the driving simulator and the vehicle cab of the driving simulator. This provides convenience in quickly adapting a driving simulator to a particular type of cab and controls, as well as other functions.
Abstract: A support framework for an umbrella-type tent, the tent including a fabric tent shell suspended from the support framework. The top and center hubs for the support framework are fabricated from a suitable material so as to provide increased strength to the top hub and the center hub. The fabric tent shell is tethered to the support framework to limit slippage of the fabric tent shell down the tent poles. The tent poles are segmented so as to provide foldable tent poles. A bungee cord keeper system is incorporated into the upper coupling for the segmented tent pole.
Abstract: Podalic foot pads of various shapes and configurations which utilize a padding material that is primarily an A-B-A triblock copolymer and a plasticizer. A-B diblock copolymers may be compounded into the padding material. An anti-bleed agent is preferably employed. The plasticizer may be a resin, mineral oil or otherwise. A detackifier may be employed such as grape seed oil or another slip agent. Antioxidants, pigments and micropsheres may be added to the material. The material has good cushioning properties.
Abstract: A connector for use in a card reader is provided. A frame is included for accommodating a card therein. The frame has an opening through which a card is inserted into the frame and removed from the frame. A plurality of connector terminals are mounted on the frame, being insulated from one another and each of the connector terminal extending from the frame to contact the card. A card sensor switch is provided for detecting complete insertion of the memory card in the frame. The card sensor switch is mounted in the inner rear portion of the frame, in an electrically insulated insulation state. A landing yoke supporting one portion of each of the connector terminals is pivotably mounted to the frame in order to minimize the sliding contact area of the memory card with the connector terminals during insertion or removal of the memory card.
