Abstract: A cushion that includes a base and numerous bladders locatable on the base is disclosed and claimed. Each bladder contains a quantity of filler insufficient to completely fill the bladder, and each bladder has a loose or elastomeric skin to accommodate its conforming to the shape of an object to be supported by the cushion. The top surface of each bladder acts as a hammock when supporting a cushioned object, and the bladders interact with each other to accommodate protuberance and crevices of the cushioned object. Other embodiments of the invention include a cushion that is pre-shaped in a form complementary to the shape of the object to be cushioned, and a cushion that re-shapes itself to maintain supporting forces that are generally equal across the contact surface of the supported object.
Abstract: A structure for frames for bicycles, wheelchairs, and other vehicles, as well as components thereof and other devices requiring a strong, lightweight frame shell. The preferred frame structure is constructed from plastic molded partial shells that are assembled into shells (such as tubing) that comprises the frame. The partial shells have protrusions and receptacles on the joining faces of their skins that are used to join the partial shells together to form the assembled shell. This results in a lightweight, durable and aesthetically pleasing frame. In an alternative embodiment, the partial shells have protrusions and receptacles within their interiors for additional strength. Additional attachment mechanisms such as screws, bolts, nails, clips or rivets may be used for reinforcement of the partial shells. A method for manufacturing the frame is also disclosed.

Abstract: Multi-adjustable wheelchair with adjustability features which accommodate the physical size and comfort of the wheelchair user is disclosed and claimed. The wheelchair includes (1) wheelchair frame width adjustment, (2) wheelchair rear axle position adjustment, (3) wheelchair seat height and bucketing angle adjustment, (4) wheelchair seat base width and length adjustment, (5) wheelchair seat back angle adjustment and (6) wheelchair seat fore and aft position adjustment.
Abstract: A lightweight wheel assembly intended primarily for use on wheelchairs is disclosed and claimed. The assembly includes an injection-moldable fiber-reinforced plastic push rim comprising a variety of fastening devices. Important advantages of the invention include very light weight compared to prior art wheel assemblies while achieving the high component strength desired, shock absorption qualities beneficial to wheelchair users not provided by other wheel assemblies, and components which may be made from the inexpensive injection molding process.

Abstract: An angle sensor for measuring an angle .theta. between two rigid bodies rotatably joined at a joint. The angle sensor includes an indicator disk, an anchor strap and a mechanism for reading the indicator disk. Our invention also includes forward and backward motion steering control systems which can employ the angle sensor as a hitch angle sensor to measure the hitch angle between a tow vehicle and a trailer.
Abstract: A device for the collection and testing of a fluid specimen is disclosed and claimed. The invention is particularly useful for collecting and testing human urine specimens but may also be employed in the veterinary environment or any time a potentially hazardous fluid is to be collected and tested and isolation of the specimen from testing personnel is desired. The invention keeps the specimen enclosed and sealed during transport and testing to facilitate safe handling of specimen. Some embodiments of the invention are highly resistent to tampering by the patient or during transport.
