Abstract: A method and system for assessing fetal abnormality based on landmarks. According to one embodiment, at least two coordinates are received for each of a plurality of points identifying a configuration of landmarks in a fetal image, and any of the received coordinates of any of the plurality of points are utilized as markers to assess fetal abnormality. According to another embodiment, at least two coordinates are received for each of a plurality of points identifying a configuration of landmarks in a fetal image, and one or more values resulting from a linear combination of any of the received coordinates of any of the plurality of points are utilized as markers to assess fetal abnormality.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a laminated polar anisotropic hybrid magnet, which includes separately mixing first permanent magnet powders having low magnetic properties and second permanent magnet powders having high magnetic properties with a thermoplastic resin to prepare first and second compound pellets, respectively, and firstly injecting the first compound pellets by use of a first injection mold, to prepare a polar anisotropic and anisotropic resin magnet, which is then placed into a second injection mold having an outer diameter lager than that of the first mold, followed by secondly injecting in a magnetic field together with the second compound pellets. The manufacturing method of the current invention is advantageous in terms of exhibition of higher magnetic properties of the laminated polar anisotropic hybrid magnet, and reduction of the use of expensive materials, thus generating economic benefits.
Abstract: A method of assessing a pregnant woman's risk of having a fetus with a fetal abnormality by determining the fetus' BPD/OFD ratio and using the BPD/OFD ratio in conjunction with one or more other screening markers for the fetal abnormality. Also provided is a method of determining whether a pregnant woman is screen-positive or screen-negative by comparing the BPD/OFD ratio of the pregnant woman's fetus to a risk cut-off level.
Abstract: Devices for straightening portions of a vehicle, particularly the unibody and/or frame of a vehicle following a collision. A device comprising a clamp which is attachable to a pulling device which exerts a pulling force in a direction P. The clamp comprises jaws which open in the general direction of pulling force P to engage a flange or other portion of a vehicle extending away from the direction of the pulling force P. This aspect is particularly useful for repairing the wheelhouse of a vehicle. Another aspect is a clamp with two openings, preferably in a single set of jaws. One opening may, for example, open proximally, i.e., in the general direction of pulling force P, while the other opening may open in a direction away from pulling force P. Another aspect of the present invention comprises providing a plurality of clamps in a single pulling device wherein the clamps are connectable, via a chain, to a single pulling arm, and where the clamps are independently positionable relative to each other.
Abstract: A method and system for utilizing shape analysis to assess fetal abnormality. According to one embodiment, coordinates of points identifying a shape in a fetal image are received, coefficients of one or more mathematical functions that describe the identified shape are determined, and the determined coefficients are utilized as markers to assess fetal abnormality.
Abstract: An apparatus for food waste treatment which efficiently treats sewage and odor generated from food wastes. The food waste treatment apparatus includes a body (10), a hopper (30) to put the food wastes into the body (10), a crusher (14) installed in the body (10) to crush the food wastes, an agitating container (42) having an agitator (38) therein and provided at a lower portion in the body (10) to agitate the food wastes, a sewage purifying tank (70) provided under the crusher (14) in the body (10) so as to purify sewage generated from the food wastes during a crushing operation of the crusher (14), and a drain pipe (73) extending from the sewage purifying tank (70), with a magnetic material (74) mounted on an end of the drain pipe (73) to secondarily purify the sewage drained from the sewage purifying tank (70) into a sewer pipe.
Abstract: Devices comprising a multi-piece housing which move from a first configuration wherein an item is at least partially disposed within a housing to a second configuration wherein more of the item is disposed outside of the housing. Upon the selective actuation of a release, at least two housing portions initially move away from each other while the item moves from the first configuration toward the second configuration, the housing portions then move back toward each other, all in a damped motion. In the second configuration, at least a portion of the item is further away from the hinge-type connection than in the first configuration.
Abstract: Disclosed is a longitudinal magnetic field compacting method and device for manufacturing a neodymium (Nd) based rare earth magnet in the shape of a butterfly for use in VCM of HDD or DVD, a disk or coin for use in coreless motors, and a block for use in linear motors, characterized in that a longitudinal compacting process is performed under a pulse magnetic field for orientation of rare earth powders in the direction of an applied magnetic field. Further, a compacted body of the rare earth powders has the same shape as end products, thus no additional processing cost, thereby lowering manufacturing costs. In addition, the rare earth powders can be subjected to an aligning process and a longitudinal compacting process at the same time under the high pulse magnetic field of 50–70 kOe, whereby the resulting rare earth magnet can have excellent magnetic properties of 42–50 MGOe.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of preparing a micro-structured powder for bonded magnets having high coercivity, which is advantageous in terms of low preparation costs by recycling magnet scraps, simplified mass production, minimal environmental contamination by such a recycling process, and the preparation of stable anisotropic powders having high coercivity. Further, a magnet powder prepared by the above method is provided. The current method is characterized in that R—Fe—B type anisotropic sintered magnets or scraps thereof are crushed to prepare 50–500 ?m sized magnet powders, which are then mixed with 1–10 wt % of rare earth fluoride (RF3) powders and thermally treated at high temperatures (500–1100° C.) in a vacuum or an inert gas, to cause the change of matrix-near surface and grain boundary of the powders.

Abstract: The various aspects of the present invention are directed to moving carts and moving cart assemblies. One embodiment comprises a moving cart assembly with a plurality of interlocking, vertically stackable, storage modules. The modules of this embodiment comprise a frame, preferably having at least four sides, e.g., a top, a back, a right side and a left side. Each module also comprises something to enclose the interior space, such as a pair of doors or a drawer which is selectively slidable into the frame. The needs of a particular office can be readily accommodated by using greater or fewer numbers of drawer modules and/or cabinet-type modules.
Abstract: A poker-type card game which provides a player with an opportunity to increase the amount wagered, and therefore to increase a winning payout, even after the player has received a definite indication that the player has won. Apparatus useful with the game method include a board game version and an electronic video game version which allow a player to increase his wager after reviewing a first display of a plurality of cards.
Abstract: A cylinder and sleeve combination, such as those found in fluid control devices, having closely positioned moving elements that leach one or more substances upon sustained contact with the subject, reactive fluid. One embodiment comprises a metering pump which utilizes small clearances that were heretofore unacceptably tight for the applications disclosed. The materials used to form at least one of the moving elements allow a substance to leach out of the moving elements as a result of a chemical reaction with the fluid, and the leached substance undergoes a separate reaction with the fluid which causes it to coagulate. The various embodiments of the present invention avoid binding of the moving elements by providing at least one scraping edge which continuously scrapes away the coagulum forming between these elements. The scraping edge is advantageously configured so as not to interfere with the operative movement of these elements.
