  • Patent number: 6007500
Abstract: A rotator cuff stretching machine with pivoting members provides for simultaneously stretching of the rotator cuff, shoulder and elbow in selective upper arm positions of yaw and pitch angles and selective elbow positions of flexion or extension. The apparatus adjusts to allow internal and external rotation stretching of the shoulder at levels of abduction from 45 degrees to 100 degrees and allows that stretch to be accomplished at various levels of horizontal adduction and abduction. The apparatus comprises an arm assembly which includes a forearm assembly for receiving a forearm of the user pivotably joined to an upper arm assembly for receiving the corresponding upper arm of the user. The arm assembly is attached to a rotating assembly so that rotation of the rotating assembly causes the arm assembly to rotate. The rotation assembly and attached arm assembly is attached to a vertical support that rotates in horizontal yaw on a vertical yaw pivot pin.

  • Patent number: 5969275
Abstract: An eddy current probe with a probe body having at least one eddy current coil is centered on a probe shaft by a pod with a plurality of replaceable centering feet which allows abraded centering feet to be replaced while the balance of the probe is retained and reused. Typically, the probe body is sandwiched between a pair of such centering pods. The replaceable pods comprise matching halves, divided longitudinally, that fit together over the shaft. Each of the centering pods is retained against the body probe by means of a retaining cap threaded on the probe shaft against the joined pod halves urging the pod against the probe body. The pod extends into an annular trepan in the probe body to secure the pods at that end. A face within the retaining cap normal to the shaft or slanted acutely toward the probe and overhanging the pod retains the pod in position around the shaft at the retaining cap end.

  • Patent number: 5918585
Abstract: A traditional sling shot is provided with a sighting mechanism on its upper elastic strap, typically a plurality of marks spaced apart along the strap in a vertical array of horizontal rises, colorations, or channels on a strap alignment side opposite the sling shot handle when the strap is loaded and stretched back into firing position with the handle horizontal and the strap generally vertical. The marks are calibrated to represent respective distances a shot of known size and weight will travel when a respective mark is aligned between the user and a target. The rise may comprise a ring, such as an elastic ring, around the strap biased to remain in a selective position on the strap but adjustable by sliding or rolling the ring along the strap to a preferred position.

  • Patent number: 5893216
Abstract: A pressurized air distribution network of conduits terminates in small, needle-like nozzles adapted to penetrate a wall, ceiling or layers of flooring, or other moisture-laden areas, such as trapped air space beneath cabinets, through an unobtrusive, easily repaired hole. Air is dispersed by positive-pressure nozzles within the area and collected by nozzles of negative pressure relative to the air pressure within the area. To maintain equal air distribution about a large area, air pressure at the several positive-pressure nozzles is maintained approximately the same by an air supply ring disposed about the relevant room. Spaced apart about the ring are several manifolds, each feeding air to a nozzle. The ring is maintained at near constant pressure, that is, with minimum pressure gradation about the ring, by attaching several air blowers around the ring. In lieu thereof, a central blower provides air to a duct which divides at least once into multiple conduits at at least one branch location.

  • Patent number: 5838060
Abstract: A stackable semiconductor package is described which has external contact points (pins, pads, solder-bumps, etc.), which are arranged in arrays on the top and bottom surfaces of the package. This package also has internal contact points (bond pads) for connection to an integrated circuit die. The external and internal connection points are connected by a programmable interconnection matrix, which may be manufactured separately from the package body and then assembled within the package. The internal contact points can each be selectively connected to the external contact points, and selective connections can also be made linking pairs of the external contact points. Stacks of such packages, containing different dice, may be formed, creating large, tightly-coupled circuit blocks. A presently-preferred embodiment of the programmable package is described in which the package body and programmable matrix are manufactured as a unit.

  • Patent number: 5683383
Abstract: An expanded elastic ring is supported in an annular groove within a ring outer cylinder for use in vacuum therapy of a dysfunctional penis. The cylinder has an open end for initial placement against a user's body with the penis contained within the cylinder. The cylinder further comprises a cap on a closed end into which a vacuum pump is integrated. The elastic ring expanded around an inner cylinder into an annular groove is remotely released within a vacuum drawn within the cylinder. In a first embodiment, the vacuum effects the release as the inner cylinder is withdrawn into an outer cylinder until the ring falls off of the inner cylinder end. In a second embodiment, push rods extending into the annular groove push the ring past a stationary inner cylinder, effected by rotation of the cap on the cylinder. An inclined face on the cap bottom surface engages the rod, pushing the rod into the annular groove.

  • Patent number: 5673646
Abstract: A removable storage locker sized to fit on a boat transom step platform provides storage and counter space to the boat. The locker includes a hinged upper lid which in its closed position provides a slightly-sloped counter surface for water drain-off at a level commensurate with that of the transom. Hinges are located astern of the transom on a locker rim protruding along the locker hinge side such that the lid opens away from the boat. The hinges are covered by an overhanging, downward-extending, rearward lid skirt to protect the hinge, allowing the lid to open at least 90 degrees with the rearward skirt extending under the rearward rim. The hinge movement is limited by the lid skirt contacting the rim underside, allowing the lid to lean astern until contact is made, the lid thus being stably supported in its open position.

  • Patent number: 5649706
Abstract: A hunting simulator having a projection of a moving target in life-size as in a natural environment is provided for practice shooting of a missile such as an arrow, dart, bullet, etc. The missile is detected in-flight in a detection plane set apart from a projection screen so the missile is detected undisturbed before impacting on the screen. The primary detector includes a continuously-illuminating LED emitter and a CCD camera sensor collocated with the emitter with a field of view in a detection area within the plane. Retroreflective tape on a perimeter about the detection area efficiently returns emitter radiation to the sensor. Detection is when a missile causes a shadow on the tape with an interruption of reflected light to the sensor, although in an alternative embodiment, the retroreflective tape is installed on the missile instead of the detection plane perimeter.

  • Patent number: 5617608
Abstract: A ram air duct directed to a vehicle's windshield receives ram air from behind a vehicle's engine coolant radiator which air is rammed through the radiator to heat the air and into the ram air duct by motion of the vehicle causing a heated air curtain over the windshield. During use at slow speeds, a fan may assist air movement from the radiator into the ram air duct. Supplemental heat may be obtained from electric heaters or the engine exhaust manifolds or both. To reduce vehicle drag due to its trailing vacuum and to the turbulence it causes, an air-collecting scoop is provided at the top of the windshield to receive air of the curtain as it leaves the windshield. The collected air is then ducted to the rear of the vehicle and exhausted into the trailing vacuum to reduce vehicle drag.
