  • Patent number: 5925209
Abstract: In a process for manufacturing corrugated cardboard, corrugated cardboard is produced by gluing several individual webs (10, 11, 31) to each other by their mutually opposite surfaces. Several individual webs (10, 11, 31) are conveyed to an assembly point (A) and then moved over a heating device (38). The distance between the glue application points (B, C) and the assembly point (A) of the individual webs (10, 11) varies according to the speed of the webs.

  • Patent number: 5924368
Abstract: A waste treatment furnace includes a first waste treatment chamber with a first burner chamber communicating therewith, and a second waste treatment chamber with a second burner chamber communicating therewith. A common bottom wall is positioned under the first and second waste treatment chambers which is inclined downwardly from the first chamber to the second chamber to facilitate transfer of waste. Each burner chamber includes a burner and a plurality of protuberances disposed across its inner surface. The protuberances effectively reflect heat from the first and second burners so that the heater air in the first and second burner chambers is homogenized.

  • Patent number: 5922607
Abstract: The invention relates to a measuring process, the purpose of which is to increase the measuring accuracy of pulse oxymeters and comparable optical devices which are used in vivo to ascertain oxygen saturation of arterial blood. The measuring process according to the invention is provided for the purpose of ascertaining oxygenation of arterial blood in tissue by evaluating the differential light attenuation at several wavelengths. It is characterized by the fact that light attentuation of at least one wavelength is determined in order to choose those calibration curves of several variables (.OMEGA.1, .OMEGA.2. . . .) produced by different wavelength pairings with a minimized error in order to generate an output signal for the arterial blood oxygenation.

  • Patent number: 5920602
Abstract: The invention concerns an underground storage facility for the initial storage of waste transported in containers (34, 36), in particular radioactive waste such as spent fuel elements. The store has transport galleries (10) giving access to storage galleries (12) for storage of the waste. In order to ensure, among other things, safe storage and ease of introduction and transfer of the waste, the invention proposes that the storage gallery (12) runs underneath the transport gallery (10) and is separated from it by a floor (14), designed for the transport of the waste, with closable openings (18) for the introduction and removal of the waste.
