  • Patent number: 5819988
Abstract: A double-barreled syringe is provided which includes a mixing tip which is detachable after the tip is locked to the syringe body, so that the tip may be replaced by a locking cap. Locking occurs when a neck extending from the body between two shoulders is inserted into a bore in the tip (or, alternatively, the cap) and the tip is rotated so that two symmetrically opposed tabs attached to the tip are each received within a recess determined by a shoulder and a locking rib attached to the shoulder, and two diametrically opposed detents extending from the neck are each received within a recess in the bore surface.

  • Patent number: 5746352
Abstract: A first embodiment of a package including superimposed flexible opaque and transparent sides and a circumferential peripheral seal determining an interior sealed enclosure for storing a liquid material includes two contiguous depending seals separated by a preformed slot dividing the enclosure bilaterally into a storage reservoir and a dispensing channel in fluid communication. The dispensing channel includes a closed lower end contiguous to a notch in the peripheral seal. Tearing the package at the notch results in collaterally tearing open the channel lower end and a contiguous portion of the peripheral seal, thereby enabling removal of package contents. Use of a ruled scale imprinted on the opaque side proximate to the dispensing channel and viewing through the transparent side the disposition of material in the channel enable the selection of a measured quantity of material to be expelled from the channel.

  • Patent number: 5724789
Abstract: A peripherally sealed, juxtaposed, multi-compartment, flexible package is provided which includes a pair of outer walls and at least one separator wall disposed between the outer walls for dividing the package into a plurality of compartments. All of the walls are sealed at a common peripheral terminus, and flowable material is disposed within each of the compartments. The package is adapted to be torn open to simultaneously dispense and admix the flowable material. The multi-compartment dispensing package is manufactured by feeding at least three sheetings of heat sealable flexible film through a first embodiment of form-and-fill packaging instrumentation. A two-compartment dispensing package is manufactured by feeding two sheetings of film through a second instrumentation embodiment including an assembly dividing one sheet into two halves which become outer walls.

  • Patent number: 5697643
Abstract: An in-line skate with an attached walker that is pivotable securely downward to interpose a flat walking surface between the skate wheels and ground, and pivotable securely upward away from the wheels and skate undercarriage so as not to interfere with skating. The walker includes a first flange bolted to the undercarriage and hingeably connected to an angle member having a second flange integral with a third flange to which is attached a walking sole. In a first embodiment the sole is attached to an angle member third flange by a plurality of rivets. In a second embodiment the sole is adhesively attached to the angle member third flange.

  • Patent number: 5531358
Abstract: A package includes opposed flexible sides and a circumferential peripheral seal determining an interior sealed enclosure for storing a material, typically a viscous liquid. The package includes a depending seal which divides the enclosure into a storage reservoir and a dispensing channel in fluid communication. The dispensing channel includes an open upper end and a closed lower end, the upper end being in fluid communication with the storage reservoir, and the lower end being contiguous to the peripheral seal and to an aperture within the depending seal that is adapted to be torn open. Tearing the aperture results in collaterally tearing open the lower end of the dispensing channel and the contiguous portion of the peripheral seal, thereby enabling removal of package contents.

  • Patent number: 5453284
Abstract: Hydro-activated and/or oxygen activated aqueous, enzymatic, antimicrobial dentifrices are stabilized against enzymatic activation prior to oral application of the dentifrice by incorporating a thickener into the dentifrice formulation so as to provide the formulation with an enzyme immobilizing viscosity which inhibits enzymatic action during processing and in the dentifrice package. An illustrative, thickened, enzymatic dentifrice with this enhancement contains glucose oxidase, glucose, lactoperoxidase and potassium thiocyanate together with carboxymethylcellulose in an amount to provide the dentifrice with a viscosity of at least about 800 centipoises.

  • Patent number: 5336494
Abstract: An orally chewable, enzymatically coated product is provided which, upon chewing, produces an anti-bacterial and bacteriostatic effect in the oral cavity by activation of an enzymatic system contained within the coating. The enzymatic surface coating is developed, in substantially dry form, from a thickened, aqueous coating solution having a viscosity from about 1,000 to about 50,000 centipoises and containing oxidizable substrate and oxidoreductase enzymes specific to such substrate for producing hydrogen peroxide upon oral chewing of the coated product and optionally, but advantageously, further containing peroxidatic peroxidase and an alkali metal salt of an oxygen accepting anion for interacting with hydrogen peroxide to produce oxidized anionic bacterial inhibitor. An illustrative enzymatic system for this purpose contains glucose, glucose oxidase, potassium thiocyanate and lactoperoxidase.
