  • Patent number: 5323664
Abstract: A slidebar assembly for adjustably positioning the handlebar of a bicycle or other similar vehicle includes a slidebar having a base end which pivotally attaches to the head of the bicycle stem and a slide block assembly which carries the handlebar on the slidebar so that the forward position of the handlebar can be adjusted in a slide motion. Hand accessible cam lock levers are provided on the slide block assembly for releasing the grip of the slide block assembly on the slidebar; a further hand-accessible cam lock lever is provided at the base of the slidebar for adjusting the pivot angle of the slidebar in relation to the handlebar stem which fits into the frame of the bicycle. Adjustment of the pivot angle of the slidebar in relation to the bicycle stem is provided by means of unique cam lock mechanism, which, when the cam lock lever at the base end of the slidebar is actuated, operatively releases the base end to pivot on the head of the handlebar stem.

  • Patent number: 5302039
Abstract: An improved panel coupler has a hub assembly which releaseably and adjustably holds two or more panel clamps for coupling together two or more adjoining panels. The panel clamps have keeper ends which are captured and adjustable within a keeper channel in the hub assembly such that the panel clamps are infinitely adjustable about the hub assembly, and distal clamping ends which, in turn, are adjustable for clamping onto panels having different thicknesses.

  • Patent number: 5276597
Abstract: A configurable furniture integrated lighting system has a plurality of interchangeable symmetric and asymmetric fixture heads for indirect lighting and a plurality of different supporting structures for supporting any one of the fixture heads at a predetermined mounting height from a variety of different support surfaces associated with the furniture system, including floor level support surfaces, desk top surfaces, book shelf surfaces, and binder bins. The described invention can be mounted virtually anywhere along the partition walls of almost any open office arrangement, with different alignments with respect to the walls being possible. Free-standing fixtures can additionally be placed as required to achieve an optimum ambient lighting distribution.

  • Patent number: 5247438
Abstract: A personal time management system includes a computer device having a display screen on which is generated a primary visual display comprised of individual event time bars and a composite conflict time bar. The event time bars graphically display times for scheduled events by means of visual markers occupying one or more slot times on selected time bars. The composite conflicts time bar simultaneously displays all the visual markers of the event time bars so as to provide a positive indication of a conflict. The visual markers representing scheduled events can readily be placed and removed directly on the primary visual display by one or two clicks of a mouse on a selected event time bar. Events can thereby be scheduled and rescheduled without the need to pull up and enter information on a secondary screen display.

  • Patent number: 5217301
Abstract: A lighting fixture is comprised of a housing fabricated in two mating sections which are joined in a manner that produces a reveal in the bottom exterior surface of the housing. A switch, and preferably a slide switch, is mounted to the interior side of the housing such that the switch actuation member, preferably a slide member, projects through a reveal slot so as to accessibly, but unobtrusively, project from the housing's reveal. The switch preferably has multiple operative states corresponding to the different slide positions of the switch's slide member within the reveal.

  • Patent number: 5192128
Abstract: A luminaire, and typically an indirect luminaire, is provided with at least one visible lens element or other light transmissive media, the observable brightness of which is intended to enhance the performance of the luminaire in terms of providing a psychologically pleasing lighting environment. The brightness induced in the lens element is controlled by directing source light to the lens through a confined indirect light path provided by reflector components within the luminaire. Additionally, a light shield is provided internally of the luminaire to prevent direct source light from reaching the lens element. Preferably, at least one of the reflector components in the indirect light path is a diffuse reflector such that source light incident on the lens element is diffuse light.

  • Patent number: 5185801
Abstract: A circuit for improving the transient behavior of a two-way loudspeaker system includes a crossover circuit with high selectivity, amplitude and phase correction circuitry for separately correcting the amplitude and phase responses of the high and low frequency drivers in their mounting environment, and correction circuitry for correcting the composite amplitude and phase response of the overall loudspeaker system after insertion of the crossover. A further phase offset technique and circuit provides for introducing frequency dependent phase shift in the loudspeaker system's high or low frequency channels for offsetting the phase responses of the high and low frequency drivers within the crossover frequency range. According to the phase offset technique of the invention, phase shift is added, preferably in the high frequency channel, until composite amplitude response curves observed on-axis and at different vertical angles off-axis are forced to be consistent.

  • Patent number: 5051878
Abstract: A lensed reflector system for a luminaire produces a specular beam of reflected light to provide a degree of directivity to an otherwise non-directive reflector surface. The lensed reflector system is formed by a prismatic lens material, such as a Fresnel lens, overlaying a reflector substrate having, in one aspect of the invention, a diffuse reflecting surface. The combination of the diffuse reflector and prismatic lens, together with the positioning of the reflector system in relation to the luminaire's light source, provides a reflector system which uniquely exhibits both diffuse and specular reflection characteristics depending on the angle at which the reflector system is viewed. The lensed reflector system of the invention can suitably be used in indirect lighting systems employing compact fluorescent lamps for increasing the spread of light from the fixture onto adjacent wall surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5040751
Abstract: An adjustable pipe hanger includes a hanger rod to the bottom of which there is attached a unitary pipe stabilizing element having an arcuate pipe capping surface. A detached flexible strap having a series of holes along its length is threaded through strap guide channels which are formed on opposite sides of the pipe stabilizing element. The position of the strap holes are selected so that, when the strap is wrapped around any one of a number of standard size pipes or pipe fittings braced against the stabilizing element's arcuate pipe capping surface, the strap can be secured to a strap retaining pin on the stabilizing element. The strap is provided with an enlarged base end so that it will not pass through, but will be captured by, the first pipe guide channel through which it is threaded. The strap holes are provided with relief slots so that the strap will not hold the pipe too tightly and will permit axial movement of the pipe through the hanger.
