  • Patent number: 5316377
Abstract: A composite molded wheel assembly and method of construction wherein a separately formed injection molded tread is flow melt bonded to a blow molded rim. The tread may comprise multiple tread pieces which are spaced over a tread surface. Bond enhancing grooves and/or projections may be provided on inner surfaces of the tread pieces and/or rim. The tread pieces flow melt bond to the rim during the molding of the rim. The rim includes an axle bore containing hub, a tread support wheel box and a plurality of connecting spokes and intervening web pieces. The method includes the steps of preparing and retaining the tread within the rim forming mold, introducing a parison of rim material having a melt temperature greater than the tread material, injecting pressurized air or gas to conform the rim material to the mold and tread pieces and controlling the molding cycle temperature, pressure and time parameters to promote bonding.

  • Patent number: 5300973
Abstract: A slide track, pin registration system for registering photosensitive media to light exposure equipment. The system includes one or more slide tracks and each of which contain media registration pins. The slide tracks are orthogonally mounted within grooves let into a resilient media support mat. Each pin is restrained in a spring biased retainer which retainer is loosely confined in a support base that slide mounts to the track. The number of pins and profile shapes are variable to match the media and registration requirements. In one vacuum system, the tracks are supported in a multi-chambered, foam backed bladder. In another the tracks are supported on a single chambered bladder. In still another system, the retainer slides within grooves formed in a rigid board.

  • Patent number: 5288265
Abstract: A hinged gambrel support which folds and latches for storage. Each of a pair of support arms include one or more gambrel retainer projections, mating latch surfaces and tie off apertures. A bored axle at one arm mates with and is retained to the other arm at a recessed bore via a split ring fastener. Latch surfaces at the retainer projections interlock upon folding the arms for storage. In an alternative construction the arms are length adjustable.

  • Patent number: 5285914
Abstract: Liquid containment apparatus comprising a metal storage tank mounted within a liquid impermeable, cast concrete vault. An open-topped, reinforced cast concrete vault base includes an internal thermal liner, liquid impermeable membrane, vault seal, tank cradles and support legs. Sloped interior walls, a sump and siphon facilitate liquid and/or condensate removal from the base. A vault cover is integrally cast with the tank and supports a number of projecting fill, vent, gauge, inspection, and siphon standpipes. Chamfered edges at the cover and lift hooks facilitate cover removal, alignment and tank inspection.

  • Patent number: 5285742
Abstract: A wind powered vehicle including an operator platform having tilting and stationary sections coupled together via a plurality of hanger bearings and a longitudinal pivot axle. The platform section tilts with foot pressure applied at a stirrup to direct a forward steering assembly. The stationary platform section includes a resilient suspension and supports an opposite foot of the operator. The forward steering assembly provides a tilting, center biased steering turntable and axle. Adjustable axle bearing collar support and shock absorbers support forward and aft pairs of skis, wheels or runners which are tilted at opposite caster angles. The steering assembly, hanger bearings, cable truss supports and a sail coupler are each longitudinally adjustable along the length of the platform. In alternative configurations, wheels are mounted to the fore and aft axles; the platform includes spray guards; or the vehicle is constructed with water skis and the platform is constructed to provide flotation.

  • Patent number: 5273649
Abstract: Low volume, personal water purification systems including cartridges containing multi-valent iodine resins, granulated active carbons, and porous separation and filtration means. In one assembly, a first section of a multi-sectioned cartridge includes an inlet, a mouthpiece and a coupler. A second section includes mating coupling means and each section includes separate filtration and/or purification media. In other assemblies, cartridges of a variety of filtration/purification organizations mount within squeezable, vented housings including straws or self-sealing outlet ports. In still other assemblies, the cartridges couple to a manifold housing.

  • Patent number: 5259500
Abstract: A micro-component feeder assembly supporting small, odd lot or odd shaped components and subassemblies from a sprocket driven tape carrier including seriatim, annular housings having removable covers and component pallets. The housing walls include resiliently fastener portions which resiliently support each pallet and cover. One or more components are indexed to pallet apertures, cavities, projections or resilient restraints.Wound tape supply and take-up cartridges mount to a controlled drive housing which includes tape reel drive, tape splice, tape sprocket drive, cover removal, clamp/test and lift and locate assemblies. Full and depleted component tapes cyclically alternate between upper and lower cartridges.A multi-faceted tool head assembly is controlled to a defined pallet presentation and defined positions at each pallet. A component gripper assembly produces a uniform gripping and insertion action of each component.
