Abstract: A night vision compatible display employing a liquid crystal display, and an infrared attenuating filter having characteristics which permit a high degree of infrared attenuation while transmitting substantial amounts of visible light, in combination with an incandescent source and reflector for backlighting a liquid crystal display through the infrared filter so that the liquid crystal provides a fully readable, high contrast display when sufficeintly trans-illuminated through the filter to produce light having a spectral content highly compatible with direct vision and the use of infrared sensitive GEN III night vision goggles and other night vision equipment in a night vision environment.
Abstract: Waste drilling mud is stabilized for earthern burial. The waste drilling mud may be treated by flocculating, aggregating, agglomerating and dewatering the waste drilling mud and separating out free water. The free water may be reused or disposed of in a disposal well. The thickened, dewatered drilling mud solids may be further treated with a water absorbing binder to produce a residue which has sufficient bearing strength to support an earthen overburden and may be disposed of by burial. Suitable flocculating, agglomerating and dewatering polyelectrolytes may be used, including polyacrylamides, quarternary amine polymers and mixtures thereof. The water absorbing binders may include inorganic and organic materials, such as natural and synthetic water absorbing gums, polymers and inorganic colloidal absorbers.
Abstract: An improved method for improving the adhesion of microelectronic coatings to substrates uses a new silane adhesion promoter and hydroxylic solvent combination. An improved silane adhesion promoter contains an aqueous solvent composition containing a hydroxylic solvent.

Abstract: A rotary die cutter for cutting sheet material has a drive mechanism which reduces the shock applied between the work piece and the die. Including a drive train for the die cutting rollers which permits slippage. The drive train can have a tension belt system which allows slippage when excessive force is required at the die so that the shock on the prime mover and drive train is minimized.
Abstract: A titanium alloy has greatly increased specific strength and increased thermostability. The alloy consists of a titanium matrix in which fibrous dispersoids are formed in situ. The dispersoids are rod and/or plate shaped and have a diameter or depth of about 0.1-0.5 microns and an aspect ratio of about 5-10. A typical alloy has the composition A-X where A is titanium or titanium alloy and X is boron, carbon, nitrogen, mixtures thereof, or mixtures with silicon.
